I was going through question 5dii of the 2020 methods exam two.
The answers state to solve this inequality I attached.
I typed into my casio classpad "solve(1<(2x^3)/(3x^2-1)<1.1" but my classpad only gave me the solution 0.808<x<1.347, not the second solution in the answers.
Does anyone know why?

Yep it’s a known bug on the class pad where it doesn’t give the solution for that specific question. Nothing much you can do about it unfortunately unless you graph it out

Maybe it has something to do with the discontinuity of the function? Solving the double inequality in two steps seems to give the negative solution though (as in, finding \(f(x)<1.1\cap f(x)\geq1\) by hand after solving separately).

yep it works if i do it like that, it just seems strange that i can't trust my cas.

Probably were tbh, but if you remember the previous question you were able to recognise the other inequality by solving that question. You could also use the graph section to do it so I think it was swept under the rug per say
