Title: Should we be worried about our online privacy?
Post by: Maya24 on July 05, 2018, 08:26:00 pm
What are your thoughts on online privacy? Should we be worried? Do you think that we should take more measures to be safe online  or is the current state good enough?

Right now, it isn't good enough, but it would be good to have it, but it's not possible!

The digital world is what it is, whether you like it or not!

There's a common saying in the IT world, you are connected or you are not. Every time you do something online, something is collected.
- Log on - Website tracks your behaviour
- Use Google maps - Google knows where you've been
- Search for items - Google gives you customised youtube ads
- Talk about stuff on fb - Comes up on fb ads

I personally think we should be very worried about the direction in which the future is heading in terms of online privacy.
One of the quotes that has stuck to me the most is regarding free services such as Facebook and Instagram.

'If you are not paying for the product, you are the product.'
