Honestly, I should have started this last year, but better late than never right?
Why am I doing this?
Spoiler
To be completely honest, I don't really know. However, I think writing a journal will be a great way to just regurgitate all my thoughts. Also I feel like when I look back through this journal at the end of this year I'll feel a sense of fulfilment? Maybe? I just hope that I, along with the quality of my writing improves over the year.
Who am I?
Spoiler
Well to give ya the general gist of stuff, I was born in Melbourne, lived in India from age 2-12 and now am back in Melbourne.
I'm super into music and primarily play the drums and guitar, but am also trying to improve playing bass and piano.
I'm also very into video games (classic nerd shit), however I decided to seriously cut down on how much time I spent playing last year as it was starting to have a significant impact on my studies (more than it does now).
Not really sure what else to say so..... enjoy?
Just a catchup on Yr 12.
English 3/4 (Goal SS - 37+)
At this point in the year, we have already completed 3 SACs for English. The creative, and analysing argument (split into a single analysis and a comparative analysis.) I worked extremely hard for the creative, whereas for the other two sacs I did bare minimum work, which was still more than what i did in Yr11.
Psychology 3/4 (Goal SS - 45+)
So I picked up Psych without completing the 1/2 as I had found myself reading quite a bit on the topic of psychology and found it quite interesting.The only thing I've found 'hard' at this point is the 'key science skills,' which were only brushed over as they were already learned by others in 1/2. However, I have since caught up a bit.
Economics 3/4 (Goal SS - 45+)
Similar to last year, i've found economics quite enjoyable, in terms of classmates and my teacher. The first sac was quite straightforward as it was recapping last year's content. The current content we are doing is mostly building on what we have learned from last year, and I find it quite interesting, and have found myself completing work ahead of the due date (something I usually never do.)
Maths Methods 3/4 (Goal SS - 25+)
To put it bluntly, I hate it. I got 56% on both topic tests (not Sacs) and have literally no motivation to do work. There is a one 4-part sac for the entirety of Unit 3, which is in Week 9/10 of the term. Hoping to pass that as well to be honest. Not exactly sure what I need to be getting to get a 25 at the end of the year but I know I need to find the motivation to study for this subject. But I just can't?
Overall
So Yr12 is kinda great. The 11 spares a week give me sooooooooooooooo much time to do work at school, although I don't actually work in all of them. If anyone finds any grammatical errors or formatting mistakes please let me know :D. I'll try to update this every week? Or whenever I can be bothered to be honest.
(I figured I should probably edit the first post of my journal to make it less cluttered, so that's what I've done)
Time for an update
English
We started studying 'Persepolis' in English this week. It's a new book that's been added to the study design, and is interestingly a graphic novel (comic book.) This adds an entirely different perspective to the analysis of the novel as dialogue is always accompanied with a picture/visual stimuli. There's also a heap of social/cultural/economic background as the Iranian revolution also plays a major part in the novel. It's surprisingly a good read and is a very interesting story to analyse in my opinion.
Psych
Started on Neural plasticity in Psychology, interesting but nothing too hard at this point.
Eco
Economics SAC on Monday, yaaaayyyyyyyyyyy.? The topic is okay as its mostly about macro-economics and economic growth and I feel pretty confident as I have two practice sacs ready to hand in to my teacher tomorrow which will help me consolidate my stuff, nothing much apart from that though.
Methods
The methods sac is looming and i'm not looking forward to it. At this point, i'll be ecstatic if i get a 60% on it, but i'll be content with just passing. Still cannot bring myself to do any work for this subject as all i'm aiming for is a 25.

Sac 1 (Creative) - 29/30. Pretty happy with this one, but was still hoping for a 30/30.
Sac 2 (Single analysis) - TBA. Hoping for an 18/20 or above at this point.
Sac 3 (Comparative analysis) - TBA. I fucked this one pretty bad, so i'll be VERY happy with a 17/20.
Psych
Sac 1 (The Nervous system/Stress) - TBA. I think I went quite well on this. There was an unexpected 8 marker at the end of the sac that I think I could've gotten 6-7 marks on. Hoping for 45+/50.

Sac 1 (Microeconomics) - 42.5/45. Pretty happy, was expecting lower.

Sac 1 (All of Unit 3) - 25th March - 6th April, across two weeks.
So in general, feeling kinda nervous for the Eco sac on Monday. Especially since I fell sick on Sunday, and it seems to only be getting worse. Just hope i'm better by Monday. I also feel realllly unproductive as i haven't been able to go to the gym at all.
Another one
English
Same same, just taking notes in class and going over key frames and themes in the book.
Economics
The SAC is on monday and I literally cannot bring myself to do any work at all. I've already done 3 practice sacs earlier in the week as revision, and there is no 'official' revision to be done. However, I know what to revise and I hope that I can bring myself to actually do revision for the sac tomorrow instead of procrastinating all day.
Psychology
I got 47/50 on the first sac!!!! Hell yeah. The thing that worries me though, is that i'm one of the only people that did well in the class, all the other scores were average, whereas in other classes, where the teachers are more experienced there were 6-7 people per class getting over 90%. This really worries me since we have a teacher that is new to the school and I don't wanna be put at a disadvantage. Still happy though.
Methods
I started revision!!!! Sorta. I actually got onto printing the start of the Practice sac that we were given, but the questions seem overly simplified compared to what we usually have been doing in the workbook and assignments, which worries me as I feel like the revision we were given may not actually prepare me for the sac.

Despite the score for psych i'm not really feeling good. I decided to lock myself indoors today telling myself I would study (I didn't) and missed the opportunity to have a really good time at a gath with some of my friends which is kinda shitty. Oh well, at least I know that I should go next time an opportunity arises.
Two more weeks of school left!!!! I would honestly love to be relaxing right now, but I have a Psychology SAC on the last day of school, as well as 4 more sessions of a methods sac :(. But looking forward to getting smashed before our Yr 12 formal which is on the last day of school :D.
English
Still just going through the book and analysing different pages. Got two sacs back, 17/20 on single analysis and 19/20 for comparative analysis. I was really surprised with this since I thought I did really well on the single and shit on the comparative but it seemed to be the opposite. Another thing that kinda triggers me is that other classes had their single analysis marked scaled up a bit if they did well on comparative, but oh well.
Economics
Fallen behind a bit but just going through government goals at the moment. Got 36/40 on the last sac which I was pretty happy with since the highest mark was a 37/40.
Psychology
Going through classical conditioning and operant conditioning at the moment, pretty interesting but also very straight forward. The sac for this topic is apparently a 'media analysis.' They've given us minimal information about the nature of the sac but apparently they ask us questions that stem from an article of some sort which will be intresting.
Methods
Did the first session of our ENTIRE UNIT 3 sac yesterday. I wasn't even close to finishing but most of the content was pretty straight forward so I should be able to cop above a 50% for the first session at least. From what the teachers have said though, the sessions get considerably harder, and since I found the first session hard, i'm not looking forward to the rest.

English
Just the usual going through themes and key frames of Persepolis. Apart from that though, the topics for the oral have been released!!! This is probably the assessment i'm least looking forward too since I get really nervous when speaking to a crowd of people. Also is helping people edit their speeches on ATARNOTES a thing? I hope it is because ill probably be needed a lot of help aahhaha
Economics
Finished the goal of low inflation and gonna go through the goal of full employment next term. Got holiday homework to write a 1000 word report summarising the budget though, so not really looking forward to that one :-\ :-\ :-\
Psychology
I completed the second sac of the unit today and I'm kinda pissed off. I spent so much time going in depth and studying topics that were supposedly going to be on the sac, but there were only simple questions on the sac, some of the shit which I didn't know the 'key words' for, so i'll probably lose a few marks on this one. Really disappointed since I sunk a lot of time studying for this sac and was hoping to ace it. Oh well :-\

Oh boy. Well the 5-session sac is finally over. Going into it I was only hoping to pass, but now i'm thinking I could score a 60%, eventhough I screwed up some of the easiest questions

Going surprisingly okay. We've started to de-constuct essay topics and also are beginning to write practice paragraphs/essays. I found myself ACTUALLY DOING WORK FOR ENGLISH (yeah crazy I know) which I am really happy with. As I write and spend more one on one time with the teacher I am starting to understand the 'deeper meanings' of the book and the 'framework' needed for the essays to write on this book. Sac is coming up in two weeks though, which I am for sure nervous for.
Economics
I feel like we went waaaay too quick through the topic of full employment but once I completed the previous years' practice sac I realise there isn't really that much to know. Sac is on Thursday and i'm feeling moderately confident seeing as i've already completed 3/4 practice sacs given to us.
Psychology
Boy I don't even want to think about this subject right now. Extreeeeeeeeeeeeeemly mad at my teacher.

English
The single text response sac for Persepolis is slowly but surely creeping up, and the date has been confirmed to be next Wednesday. That's pretty fucking quick. I'm glad that I've at-least done two body paragraphs and an intro as practice, however the feedback I got on the practice was horrific and the entire page was scribbled with how I could improve my writing. Usually I know that this is actually a positive and it gives me a way to actually improve my writing, but for some reason this is just extremely demotivating me to redraft/write more on the book.
Economics
Results for the most recent sac aren't out yet but when I asked my teacher to give me the general 'gist' of how I went he didn't seem too positive, so I'm not expecting too good of a result at this point. Apart from that, we're now moving on to what has been dubbed my past Eco students and my teacher the 'hardest topic,' which I'm actually looking forward to since the concepts that have been thrown at us so far have been pretty straight forward.
Psychology
Studying the Atkinson-Shifirin model of memory at the moment and I'm actually finding it quite interesting. I've gone ahead a bit in our workbook in hopes my teacher give's me some extra work but I've come to learn that's not really how it works so I've decided to start doing some questions from the checkpoints 2019 book which seem to be extremely useful.
Methods
We've started circular functions, the on topic that I completely missed last year (got 19% on the test.......). Surprisingly though, my teacher has actually been very accommodating to me and stuff is actually starting to make sense which i'm happy about.

Wooooooo time for a new post!!! Did you miss me?
This term is getting extremely heated. There's a sac (or two) literally every week until the end of the term, so the grind is really starting.
English
Text response sac this Wednesday!!!! I'm extremely annoyed with my teacher since I've submitted two full practice essays to her (one on Tuesday and the other on Wednesday, and the only feedback she's given me is for an intro and one body paragraph. This is especially annoying since she has marked some of my friends' work but somehow missed mine????????? This just frustrates me since the sac is literally on Wednesday and I'll probably only get my feedback the day before the sac, if i get it at all. However, since I've done decently well in English up till now (for me), I can afford to lose 4 marks and still maintain a 90% average, which was my goal for Unit 3.
Economics
I got my previous sac back and I'm so stoked!!!!! I genuinely thought I fucked up the last question, and turns out I still got 3.5/5 marks for it even though I didn't think I addressed the question. And no I'm not one of those people that comes out of a sac saying they failed but when they get it back they've aced it (or at least i'd like to think so). Anyways yeah I ended up with 32.5/35 --> 13.9/15 (VCAA). Unit 3 AOS 3 is honestly INSANELY HARD!!!! I've genuinely never struggled this much in Eco, and I really think this will be the sac that will split the higher ranks of the cohort.
Psychology
So for some reason we're doing an EPI and learning the content for the next sac at the same time. Basically each lesson is split between EPI and learning content for new sac. Also the sac that we are learning content for is in two weeks, and the in class questions for the EPI is only two weeks after that. Also something that frustrates me is that unlike other science subjects, at our school, we have to perform our EPI as a class (still marked separately). This just seems to be slowing me down as I feel I could work waaaaaaay quicker if I did it individually, but I guess I'll just have to learn how to work as a large group.
Methods
Holy shit. 36/50 on the sac for the entirety of unit 3. I'm literally on top of the world, I scored a whole lot higher than those who are significantly better than me at methods, and I'm now sitting around the middle of the cohort for rankings. This result was waaaaaaaay higher than the 25/50 I was hoping for so I could not be happier. Apart from that though, we've started circular functions, the topic I fully missed last year, scoring an impressive 11% on the test for it. I've already shown great improvement from last year though, but the improvement is so insignificant that i'm still behind my class in terms of knowledge from 1/2 methods. Oh well.

Persepolis is gone 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly though, I think the sac went really well. Both the topics offered were really good, but ultimately I chose the one that turned out to be the popular one. This was one of the first times I've put work into studying for an English outcome, and I think I was successfully able to bend the evidence/quotes I memorised to fit the topic. Going into it I would've been happy with a 25/30, but now I think I may have scored in the 27-29 range. Tomorrow we will be starting to work in class for out orals , which I am not excited for at all. We only have two more weeks to research, write and practice our orals before we speak to the class and I haven't even begun to think about the topic I'm gonna be speaking about, even though they were released prior to the holidays. There seems to be quite a range of topics but I'm not really sure what topic to pick, and what I would even contend.
Here are the topics if anyone would like to give opinions/ideas;
Spoiler
The ‘gig’ economy – how casual is too casual?
• What is exploitative work? Do the ends justify the means?
• Do workers have a right to consistent and valuable employment?
• Does the 40-hour week still exist?
• What exactly is the 21st Century work place and is it better than what it has replaced?
Earth, wind and fire (and flood and drought) – the climate of change
• Who takes responsibility when politicians won’t?
• The science is in – what now?
• If the time for intervention has passed, how do we best adapt to the inevitable consequences?
• Beyond speaking up, what more can the young do? What more can you do?
• When there’s nothing left to recycle, where do we go from there?
• When the last Truffula tree has been chopped down. . .
Art vs the artist – can we separate the two? Should we?
• Where are the limitations of accountability?
• Should we separate the art from the artist?
• Just because the creator or inventor strays morally, should their work be ignored or dismissed?
• If we hold artists accountable for their actions must we hold all fields accountable?
• Do private failings lessen a person’s public contribution?
• Are some creative endeavours more valuable to society than others? If the creator acts immorally outside of their work, should the work, and thus society, suffer for its absence?
I am, you are… who is Australian? – What does it mean to be Australian today?
• Who is ‘the Australian’? How should we celebrate ourselves as a nation?
• Who determines national identity parameters?
• Is there still a place for nationalism in Australia today?
• Do we need a single national identity? Or do we need to reconcile the ones we have?
• How should our Federal Parliament achieve diversity that represents modern Australia?
Australia, do we have a man problem?
• To achieve true social change, who should speak loudest? Whose voice needs to be heard?
• Gender equality and violence against women – what role does the media play in reporting different communities?
• Does domestic violence against women start with Australian men?
• Why are women overrepresented in statistics of violence and discrimination, yet underrepresented in statistical success in the professional world?
• Does Australia have a culture of toxic masculinity?
• Does industry have a role to play in setting social standards? Or is it a blatant marketing tool that happens to be ‘on trend’?
• Is Australia still a boys’ club?
Hate Speech or Free Speech? The power of speech? The responsibility of speech?
• Is there a line and who draws it? How loud is too loud?
• Do appeals to nationalism still have a place in the global world? Say what???
• Who is responsible for hate speech generated in Australia and around the world?
Is the ‘antisocial’ media platform to blame? Is reporting amplifying?
Economics
The further we go the harder it gets. I said it before but I'm genuinely going to have to put a lot of effort into studying for this sac. We've only gone through 3 out of the 5 'easy' dot points for this sac and there's only two more weeks to go till the sac. This one's really gonna be a grind.
Psychology
Today we finally finished the content for next week's sac, and my god I'm going to have to do an insane amount of revision in a small period of time if I even want to think about doing well on this sac. However, this content is by far the most interesting thing we've studied this year (how memory is encoded, stored and retrieved + neurodegenaritive diseases such as Alzheimer's) so it'll probably be a lot easier to revise for something that I find interesting. The EPI on the other hand is an absolute nightmare. Even though we've finally gotten everything set up for the experiment I feel like I'm going to be very under prepared for the sac (because apparently there's no way we can prepare for it????). I'm sure i'll figure it out, if I'm feeling this way I'm sure others are too.
Methods
Welp I thought for once in my life I was starting to understand what the fuck was going on in methods but I was veeeeeeryyyy wrong. I did go for a trial tutoring session though and it helped quite a lot, so I'm gonna be getting tutored every fortnight from now on. I think it'll be beneficial but I kinda feel like it's a waste of money since methods is guaranteed to be in my bottom two and i'm not exactly planning to more much more effort into it. I guess I'll have to see how it goes.

General
My god it has been a whiilllllllleeeee and things still haven't really cooled down. But in these few moments of calm I've decided to make another post.
So a lot has happened; I moved houses last weekend, the power was out at the new house for two days and I apparently have no wi-fi at the new house for approximately a month, so I've been working off my phone's data. On Thursday night I had to give a speech at a premiership dinner (I was suuuuuper nervous.) And on Friday, (at school) I took part in a bike ride for charity. All this, during some of the busiest weeks of the year. Okay so;
English
I decided to write my Oral presentation on 'The power of speech,' and how hate speech leads to the systematic exclusion of 'the other.' I literally just finished writing the speech around 15 minutes ago, and I'm pretty sure i'm presenting on Monday, so I should get onto practising. I did an insaaaaaaaaaane amount of research around this topic (maybe a bit too much,) but I thoroughly enjoyed reading through some philosophical articles regarding free speech and 'the social contract,' and I found myself to just keep digging deeper and deeper. It was fun researching, but I'm glad I could finally bring myself to actually begin and finish writing a speech instead of winging it.
Economics
Finally finished going though all the content for Unit 3 AOS 3 (dubbed the hardest AOS in Economics), and after all the information comes together the topic doesn't seem toooooo bad. However, the sac is on Friday and we don't exactly have much time to prepare for the Sac considering the large amount of content we need to know in detail. This is definitely going to be the sac that differentiates the top end of the cohort and creates a gap between the top few ranks, so I really need to smash this one.
Psychology
Phew!!!!! I finished the last Sac for Unit 3 on Wednesday, and considering I hardly got any time to study (since I was moving) I think it went as well as it could've possibly gone. I think I may have even gotten 24/25, which I will be absolutely stoked with! On the other hand, we just finished filling out our logbook for the EPI, and are now preparing to write out the poster next Monday, so it's going to be a busy weekend. TBH, this is the sac that i'm most nervous for, because there really isn't any way to prepare for this sac, apart from understanding the key skills needed to write a practical report. I just hope I can score well on this sac so I can maintain a ranking in the top end of the cohort.
Methods
Ch 5 & 6 test is on Monday. I'll be surprised if I even get 30% on this test considering I have absolutely no fucking idea what i'm doing. It's only a test though so...........

We're back. The back to back sacs are over and I only got one more sac back for the rest of the term, which is methods......................... Anyway's lets get into it.
English
I think the oral went reaaalllly well. I only stuttered once, which is quite good for me. The entire time I was speaking my English teacher was making eye contact, smiling and nodding, which made me quite confident in what I was saying as she wasn't doing that for other people. The statement of intention seemed to go okay, and I think it's going to get marked leniently across the cohort so it should be good. Honestly, I'm just glad that it's over; it went better than I could ever hope for. Next books we're studying are the longest memory and black diggers, haven't actually read them yet though, so I should probably get onto that.
Economics
Wheeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww Unit 3 is overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I ended up doing a shit ton of revision for this sac and I think I ended up finishing around 8-9 practice sacs. I'm pretty confident with all my answers on the sac, so I think i'd be close to acing it.
Psychology
Holy shiiiiit. I got 34 out of 35 for the final unit 3 sac, which translates to 24.2/25, giving me an end score of 94/100 for unit 3. I'm super stocked even though the mark I lost was kinda bs, but my goal was 24 and that's what I got, so i'm happy. I also completed the first Unit 4 sac today (the EPI), which seemed to have gone well, but it's honestly hard to tell.
Methods
I got 14/31 on the test without knowing the unit circle or how circular functions actually work, soooo pretty happy tbh. Next sac is end of the term so I have a while to study..... if I can be motivated to.

It's been a while but life's been going pretty good. Not to flex but I starting dating someone so that's pretty goooooooooooood. Apart from that though, two more days till holidays!!!!!!!!! Hell yeah. Gonna take advantage of it because this is probably going to be the last school holidays where i'm not studying 24/7.
English
So I got my oral results back and I'm quite happy. 28/30 for the speech, and 9/10 for the statement of intention. Compared to what most of the cohort was expecting, the oral was marked quite harshly. Very happy with this mark, allows me to drop 7 marks on the final comparative sac to hit my goal of a 90% average for Unit 4. I also got my mark for Persepolis back, and I ended up getting 27/30, which I was very pleased with, putting me at 92/100 for Unit 3 English. We finally started on black diggers and the longest memory and although I haven't read the books yet, there seems to be a quite a lot of overlap in themes with these books and Persepolis.
Economics
27.5/30 on the final sac of Unit 3, which puts me at 92.67 for Unit 3, which will probably get scaled to 93/100. Initially I was really pissed off with my mark because I lost marks on questions that I had done in practice sacs and got 100% for, but was marked down for putting the same response in the cross marking. However, each sac was marked this way to it evened out and it tuns out I got the 2nd highest score in the cohort (highest was 28/30), so I was quite happy. We've started going through the monetary policy in Unit 4 and a lot of the content from Unit 3 seems to be presumed knowledge, and knowing this well makes the new content a lot easier to learn. Genuinely looking forward to learning more about the monetary and budgetary policies as they have a lot of real world application.
Psychology
Got 28/30 on the EPI. Although this was my goal, I was not happy at all because I dropped two marks for something that my teacher told me was irrelevant. This brings me down from rank 2 --> rank 4 in psych as all the top ranks I have talked to has aced this sac. I'm mad at my teacher because this is the second time this has happened, but I know that I cannot keep blaming her and I need to start taking responsibility. Besides that, we're doing Unit 4 AOS 2 which is extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemllyy boring. I've found all of psych quite interesting so far, but aos2 is putting me to sleep.
Methods
Completed 2/3 sessions for Sac two for methods. Have been running out of times as the sacs are very time constraining, but everyone is in the same boat as me. Aiming for a score above 50%, but I think I can hit 60%.

So it's been a while. Hope you guys had a relaxing holiday and a nice ease into term 3.
Oh boyyyy where do I start. Okay so first, I got dumped (sad but I'll live), and second, PREFERENCES OPEN NEXT WEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!. I don't even really know what I wanna do. There's so many options!!!!!!!!!!. Good thing is that you can change preferences after exams from what I've heard?? On top of that Okay let's get into it.
English
Alright so we've started to analyse and take notes on TLM, and I'm starting to realise I should really fucking read the books because I have no idea what's going on. What makes me nervous is that our comparative sac that's worth 60% of Unit 4 is in four and a half weeks and I'm no where close to ready to start writing. To be honest though, that's just English for me.
Economics
God damn Unit 4 is pretty hard. I thought I would be able to ease my way into the aggregate demand policies content but it's actually pretty tough. The sac (worth 60% of Unit 4) is on Wednesday next week, and we haven't even finished the content yet. This is probably going to be the sac that I revise the
least for even though it's worth the most which stresses me the fuck out since I've really been trying hard to maintain my rank at the top of the cohort.
Psychology
I really wasn't enjoying AOS2 when we started learning it but it's really grown on me. We started revision on Wednesday but I honestly haven't been able to get myself to do work as I always have my ex on my mind (kinda cringe but it's true.) Either way I'm glad I started revision in advance because I actually got a decent amount done before I got dumped, so I'm not toooooo screwed for sac. Either way this just adds onto my stress as the sac is in two days and I wanna keep my high rank as we have a very weak cohort.
Methods
Haven't gotten last sac back yet, I reckon i'll get 50% tho. Probability is ABSOLUTELY FUCKED.

This one may be a long read.
Yet again it's been quite a while since I've updated the journal, hope everyone's been able to cope with the busy term 3. Honestly, I've been struggling quite a lot. The past few weeks I have been extreeeeeeeeeeeemly unproductive. During the weekdays I tell myself I'll do the work on the weekend, but once it gets to the weekend I end up going out with friends and watching Netflix instead and I am now very behind in terms of where I'm usually at with my subjects. I have my comparative English sac next week (worth 60%) of Unit 4 and I STILL HAVEN'T READ THE GODDAMN BOOKS. I can't remember if I've shared why my username is 'NomotivationF,' but last year, it was the day before one of my accounting sacs and I was freaking out because I had done literally no study and my motivation levels were dropping throughout the year to the point where I basically gave up on all my subjects. So I still remember the night before the sac at around 11:30pm I created this account and made a post (which I have since deleted due to embarrassment/the amount I cringed when I read it back) where I basically ranted about how I needed motivation to study and I couldn't find any. I feel like what's been happening recently is history repeating itself.
I know what steps I need to take to bounce back, but similar to last year, I just cannot bring myself to do them. Maybe its the cumulative stress of the amount of sacs + uni preferences + my recent breakup and other shit that's just reached a tipping point, but I really don't know.
English
As I said I still haven't read the two books we are studying, however I do have a grasp of (mostly?) what happens in the books. The sac is next thursday and I am obviously not very confident, but I am planning to smash out reading both books as well as write a comparative essay and hand it into my teacher tomorrow. I really hope I can push myself tomorrow to try catch up on my work. At this point, I am aiming to finish with over 90/100 for unit 4 English, meaning I have to score 53/60 or over. I'm not sure if this is achievable given how far behind I am, but I have pulled through before so maybe I can do it again.
Economics
I got my last unit 4 sac back and I scored 46/49, which scales to 56/60 for vcaa. Initially I was happy with this score however I was very pissed off about a question that I lost 2 marks on. The answer I provided on the sac was almost exactly the same as what I provided on the homework (that I aced) with the same questions a few weeks ago, yet I still lost two marks. My teacher has to cross mark the sacs with the other economics teacher so he apologised but said he couldn't do anything about it. Oh well, I'll have to live with it. The highest mark on this sac was 58/60 so I couldn't have fallen to far down the rankings, if anything, I may have moved up as our previous rank one low-key screwed up the sac. Overall I'm content with the sac. The next and final sac (40% of Unit 4) is sometime in week 8, which is a lot closer than I expected since we've hardly started the topic, hoping for 37+/40 on the next sac.
Psychology
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I fucking KILLED my last psych sac. I scored 44/45, which scales to a 29/30 for vcaa. I aced every part of the sac and only lost one mark on the 10 marker. My teacher said my ER was one of, if not the best in the cohort (nobody got 10/10 for it). All I needed to do to ace the sac was to write a concluding statement which addressed the audience of the question, which I was going to do before I ran out of time. I'll still gladly take the 29/30 as I now know that I'm either rank 3/4 in the cohort. Very very happy with this sac result. In terms of the next sac, it's week 8, the same week as my economics sac. The content for this AOS is rather interesting as it focuses on states of consciousness and sleep, both of which I seem to have a growing curiosity about. Aiming for 28+/30 on the next sac.
Methods
Yeah soooo I got 15/25 on the last sac, which I thought I would've been happy with, but after looking at it I was quite disappointed to find out how many marks I missed just due to lack of time. I think I only answered 70% of the questions, and I scored a 60%, so not toooo bad I suppose. I'm content with the score, I was only hoping to pass anyway. Next sac is a 3 part sac from Wednesday - Friday. I've heard from past students that probability is one of the hardest methods topics but I'm honestly finding it okay. I think the data-analysis and standard deviation content from further last year has helped quite a lot with the distributions part of the content from methods. As with everything in methods, my goal is just to pass so that I can get a ss of 25. However I feel like I can do well (comparatively) on this sac, so I'm aiming for 17-18/25. I still haven't completed the sac prep but I'm planning to do that tomorrow, but I don't really know if ill be able to do it as I have English to do as well. In this case this may be one of the first times that I may prioritise methods revision over English.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As I expected the last few weeks of term are extremely busy. Methods sac this week, English sac next week, Psych and Eco sac the week following, and then trial exams the week following that. It's going to be a grind to say the least.
All my sacs are over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy feeling knowing all that's left to determine my ATAR are 5 exams.
Also, TRIAL EXAMS NEXT WEEK WTFFFF. English exam tuesday, economics wednesday, mehtods thursday and psych on friday. Gonna be a griiinnnnnnd because my school uses trials to split rankings up (very tight at the top end of psych and eco cohort.)
And also, I finalised my preferences!! This is what it looks like currently, I doubt it'll change much;
1 Commerce/Science - Monash University
2 Commerce/Arts - Monash University
3 Arts/Teaching (Graduate degree package) - University Of Melbourne
4 Science/Arts - Monash University
5 Commerce/Finance - Monash University
6 Commerce - Monash University
7 Science - Monash University
8 Nursing - Monash University
English
Going into the comparative sac I was not very confident, given I was suuuuper lazy by not reading the books. However, prior to the sac I wrote two practice essays that my teacher said were decent... I did rework them however and tried to remember quotes/evidence for each paragraph. Unfortunately, once I got into the sac I forgot most of my analysis for the quotes that I remembered so I sorta had to wing it, which isn't something I usually have the skill to do. Despite this, I'm hoping for at least a 50/60, I'll be quite disappointed if I don't get this.
Economics
The AS policy sac was extremely time-pressured, however I knew this going into the sac so I was able to speed through the sac and juuuust finish with 30 seconds to go. Even though I rushed through this sac, I've never been more confident about acing a sac, so I hope I can score 34+/35, which will scale to 39/40 for VCAA.
Psychology
I was extremely over prepared going into the sac and I thought I would smash it. Unfortunately there were a few questions that even though I knew all the content for, I wasn't sure what to answer with, which resulted in me over-writing and probably screwing the questions up. Going into it I was aiming for a 28/30 but ill be content with anything over 26/30 now.
Methods
I actually reckon I went pretty well on the sac, by my standards at least. I know I screwed up some of the easier questions, but I really think I can get over 17/25 for this one, which is what I was hoping for going into it.
Sac 1 (Creative) - 29/30. Pretty happy with this one, but was still hoping for a 30/30.
Sac 2a (Single analysis) - 17/20. Disappointed. I thought I did well on this sac but apparently not. Also annoyed since this mark should've been scaled up due to comparative mark but my teacher did not change the mark.
Sac 2b (Comparative analysis) - 19/20. Very happy. I honestly thought I screwed this one up pretty bad so I was extremely happy with this mark.
Sac 3 (Single text response) - 27/30. Very happy, hard work paid off.
Unit 3 - 92/100
Sac 4 (Oral + Statement of Intention) - 28/30, 9/10 (37/40). Very happy, felt like I deserved both scores.
Sac 5 (Comparative text response) - Forgot analysis, disappointed if not over 50/60
Psych
Sac 1 (The Nervous system/Stress) - 47/50. WoooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Extremely happy knowing that the work i put in paid off. However, feeling a bit nervous since on average other classes did way better than mine.
Sac 2 (Neural plasticity + processes of learning) - 23/25. Holy fucking shit I was hoping for around a 22-23/25 but I'm fuming right now as i'm suffering due to my teacher's mistakes
Sac 3 (Learning and memory) - 34/35 --> 24.2/25. So fucking happy, the ward work paid off.
Unit 3 - 94/100
Sac 4 (EPI) - 28/30. Not happy, ranking has been pulled down from 2 --> 4.
Sac 5 (Mental health and phobias) - 44/45 --> 29/30 - Absolutely stoked. After sac was hoping for over 40 but I exceeded my expectations. Had one of the best ER's of the cohort which I was proud of. Bit disappointed that I didn't ace it but nobody did.
Sac 6 (SOC and sleep) - Kinda fucked a few questions, will be really pissed if i don't get at least 26/30
Eco
Sac 1 (Microeconomics) - 42.5/45 --> 37.77/40 . Pretty happy, was expecting lower.
Sac 2a (Macroeconomics + Growth) - 36/40 --> 13.5/15. Pretty happy considering I had to cut a few answers short due to time pressures
Sac 2b (Low inflation + full employment) - 32.5/35 -->13.9/15. Extremely fucking happy. Thought I screwed up but I didn't so yaaaaaaaay
Sac 3 (Australia and the world economy) - 27.5/30. Very happy, hard work paid off, 2nd highest score in cohort by a mile
Unit 3 - 94/100 (Not actually sure about my total, depends if scores are rounded up before being added up.)
Sac 4 (AD factors) - 46/49 --> 56/60 - I'll have to live with it. The highest mark on this sac was 58/60, may have moved up or down rankings, not sure.
Sac 5 (AS factors) - Very confident, hoping for 34+/35, which scales to 39/40
Methods
Sac 1 (50% coursework, graphs and stuff?) - 36/50. Well I greatly exceeded my expectations, so nothing to complain about. On top of the world!!!!!
Sac 2 (25% coursework, calculus and stuff) - 15/25. Was aiming to pass so I'm content, but could have done better if I worked quicker.
Sac 3 (25% coursework, probability) - Actually reckon I went well, think I can get over 17/25
General
So life is pretty good right now. Holidays have started, but then again, they aren't really holidays are they? It's been a while though, so time to update.
English
Okay so you know how I didn't exactly read the books going into the sac? Well I ended up doing insane study on understanding the books (without reading them) and just memorised around 15 quotes going into the sac. My English writing skills aren't naturally good, but holy shit I ended up score 57/60 for the sac, which is INSANE!!! It's more than I could ever have hoped for, and compared to my year 11 mark for the comparative essay, I improved by 22%!!! So suuuper stoked about that, puts me at 94/100 for Unit 4 English!!!. However, the trial.... not so good. Although I finished all my essays I didn't actually do that well - I scored 6.5/10 for section A, 7/10 for section B and 6/10 for section C. I was hoping for atleast 70% on the trial, but that's okay, it was only a trial and I have a lot of time to improve before the actually exam.
Economics
I again, fucking killed the sac. Got 33/35 which scales to 38/40 for VCAA. Highest score in the cohort and I'm pretty sure that boosts me to rank 1 baby!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly though I think I only scored that well because I genuinely enjoyed the topic. Puts me at 94/100 for Unit 4 eco as well which is pretty fucking hype, I greatly exceeded my expectations. Also, I scored 67/80 on my trial exam, which was the highest in the cohort if i'm not mistaken. I wasn't really aiming for a score on this trial as I just wanted to see where I was at overall, and it seems to be pretty decent. I got a lot of good tips from that one exam that I can not work to improve on, one of the most important being current world statistics and trends.
Psychology
Okay well bitter-sweet moment here. I initially scored 28/30, which I was content with; then when I looked at the sac my teacher took a mark off where she shouldn't have, so I got moved up to 29/30. However, when my teacher submitted the mark onto the system, she put it as a 28/30...... and now she isn't allowed to change it as it's 'against the policy' to do so. Kinda bullshit, but I gotta learn to live with. Either way, I end up with a 85/90 for Unit 4, and am ranked somewhere in the top 5 as far as I know. I scored reeeeeeeaaaaaly well in the psych trial though, I scored 106/120, 6 of those marks being lost in Multi-choice and 5 in the ER (which I half arsed). Either way though it was apparently the highest score in the cohort and the mistakes I made were easy to fix, which makes me really confident about the final exam already. I just need to keep doing timed practice and re-writing the answers I get even 1 mark off on and I should be good.
Methods
So you know how I'm garbage at methods? I scored fucking 20/25 in the probability sac, which my my standards is fucking insane. It puts me at 71/100 for my sac average, when my goal at the start of the year was just to have a passing average, so super stoked about that. However, the trial is another story. 13/40 tech free and 32/80 on tech active. I got a lot to work on in the lead up to the exam.
