When I see photo ID I generally jump to stuff like driver's licenses and passports - so if it's the same as it appears on formal ID like a passport or a driver's license, then definitely yes, otherwise a more hesitant yes. I don't recall anyone using a student ID as their photo ID, might be wrong though - if someone has used it let us know!
