So from you guys, can u tell me whether "biology" is a good subject to choose and why.

Biology is not hard but I would strongly suggest to take a brief look at the course's outline and make sure that It is something you find interesting. It is not the kind of subject that is very easy to ace since there are large quantities of information thrown at you constantly and having no interest in Biology whatsoever wouldn't been optimal.

I agree. Go to www.vcaa.vic.edu.au and check out the Study Design.
Biology can get really boring, especially with the Evolution in Unit 4.

i loved bio 3/4! But if you're just looking to do 1/2 in year 10 i would advice against it. It's heaps boring and doesnt really have much of the work that gets covered in 3/4. It's better to pick up 3/4 in year 11 or 12 if you're thinking of doing it

yeah, amen to what aiisha said. theres no real need to do biol 1/2 as far as requisite knowledge is concerned... i skipped 1/2 but did a bridging course. you should have no trouble to do 3/4 in y11 if you like the subject as i gather you do. keep us updated ;)

I would suggest strongly to do unit 1/2 in yr 10 if u want to do bio 3/4 in year 11. This is because you get a feel what the workload is like (how often the sac are and also to work out how to revise) and also unit 1/2 was a lot like unit 3 (cells, osmosis, enzymes etc) so it was like revising and adding new information. unit 4 is more on evolution.

just some extra... there a are 2 exam for bio...1 at midyear (covering unit 3 work) and 1 at the end (covering unit 4)
there are some aspect of bio that might be difficult to understand at 1st but once you get it, it usually stays.
there is a good bio unit 3/4 podcasting service google for 'duochy bio podcast' and it should come up
and that all i gotta say :P good luck

but what if he/she gets to year 11 and does 3/4 only to find that they don't like/aren't good at biology?
do the 1/2 that way you'll know if you like it or are good at it, because its better to screw up in a 1/2 than a 3/4

3/4 biol is a whole different kettle of fish to biology 1/2. when the stuff you learn in 1/2 biology can be summarised more than sufficiently in two full days, theres no use wasting the year. do methods 1/2 instead ;)

I wouldn't replace it with Methods 1/2. I don't recommend year 11 Methods, because people with a lot of potential, but are not absolute geniuses (i.e.: smart but not really disciplined) will not do as well as they could have in year 12.

Do Accounting or just stick to more fun year 10 electives (I did "Game Design" and "Town Planning" LOL).
