Well I had Carlton to win last night, not a good start. I had high hopes. Also tipping on the official AFL tipping site (tipping.afl.com.au)
Anyway, my tips for this week:
Gold Coast v Melbourne - GC to win
Sydney v Essendon - Syd to win
Lions v Collingwood - Collingwood to win
Bulldogs v West Coast - West Coast to win
St Kilda v GWS - GWS to win
Adelaide v North - North to win
Fremantle v Port - Port to win
Hawks v Geelong - Hawks to win
I'm only really interested in one match, and that's Adel v North on Sunday :)
Freo vbye bye 2 tipsPortHawksv Geelong
bye bye 2 tipsI feel like Freo will win by a slim margin and as a Cats supporter, we've always had the upper hand against the Hawks with like 11 wins and 2 losses in the last decade - iirc, you guys always choke against us :P.

Dangerous looking North list to edge a strong Adelaide side.lel
lelWell, I'd probably drown myself if we didn't.
Tough first game for your lads. Will bounce back next week, though.

Hawks better be ready for Hawkins and Motlop 8)Don't worry! We are ready. :)
Clark looks like he hasn't missed any footy at all! Haha.Absolutely! Geelong seem quite shaky despite leading.
Game living up to its expectation already, should be a thriller.
HAWKS ABSOLUTELY SLAYING ! 8)It'll take a while to get used to after top 4 dominance and 3 premierships in the last 6 years !
Geelong fans - get used to this feeling !!!!

I had trouble deciding Port vs Swans.. I have a feeling Port will be much better. We'll see though. I know the margin of 24 points for WCE vs Carlton is a bit of a stretch but I think they can pull off a win. Anything close to the 24pt margin is good enough for me :)
Bruh...Look, I know you're sore about Geelong getting thrashed by the mighty Hawks, but it's really not my fault if you support a team with such poor form ! No need to be jealous..I'm sure Geelong will come back..eventually

Jealousy at it's finest haha !You guys have won back to back prems... possibly the hardest matchup are the Hawks. But yeah, choking 12 out of 16 times against Geelong since 2008 :)
For a team that think so highly of themselves, Geelong must be feeling pretty embarrassed to lose to a team like the mighty Hawks..guess they're not as good as they think
What was that about the Hawks choking against Geelong ?

So.. my tips this week are absolutely terrible!! Have lost 4 predictions already. Anyone else in a similar boat or were my tips too adventurous?I'm not doing too bad! Sitting on top of the AN comp :P
The current anguish of Hawthorn supporters sustains me.You're not a very nice person, I must say..
The current anguish of Hawthorn supporters sustains me.Pmsl. Luke Bruest is having a shit one this morning.
I really wish I could give all the Geelong supporters some fairy bread right now.I'll just return it back - after the Hawks' loss :)

Well Melbourne was unexpected... LOL
The umpiring was shit, had it been a closer game (say under 2 goals) and Geelong losing, then it would be influential. Massive upsets this round, did not see the Bulldogs winning this week! Also, Melbourne was a surprise but thought Essendon would roll Collingwood over... My thoughts on the Clarkson thing, everyone's got his back, not much can happen to him and i'm not suprised, he did punch a wall one time lolHe also broke a guy's jaw in an exhibition match (North Melbourne v Carlton in London, funny stories).
Looks like I've won! 8) ;)
Shame Geelong couldn't make the finals.
Woohoo for 2nd place. Finals predictions for week 1?For me:
My predictions:
West Coast Eagles v Hawthorn
Fremantle v Swans
Bulldogs v Crows
Richmond v North Melbourne
Freo won't, they'll choke before the GF. I honestly reckon it'll be West Coast v Hawthorn again (as much as it annoys me).Nah I'm predicting WC V Freo OR Richmond V freo.
Nah I'm predicting WC V Freo OR Richmond V freo.
Hawks will either lose in the semis or prelims. Would be nice to finally see the scum not play a gf.
Sad the dogs lost, they've had so many opportunities and didnt make the most of it. Especially when they were streaming forward, that handball turnover in the middle with about 1.30 on the clock cost them the game i think. I think it'll be freo vs wce for grand final and wce to win it. a bit ironic that we have a Victorian public holiday for grand final eve when it might not be played here ....
Pretty sure it'll be hosted at the MCG regardless. Domain Stadium doesn't have the capacity to host all the AFL sponsors, grand final ticket holders etc.Oh true, yeah, that makes sense. Interesting final series but would've liked to see more Victorian teams in it.
Go the roos!
Oh true, yeah, that makes sense. Interesting final series but would've liked to see more Victorian teams in it.
As long as Hawthorn aren't in the GF, i'll be happy (although this is really unlikely). It's time for another team to win. I would like to see North Melb get to the GF, but I don't think that'll happen. If we beat Sydney next week (which looks likely given the amount of injuries they have), then we face West Coast. There is a chance we can win that too, considering we have beaten them in the past (giving them one of their five losses for the H&A season), however finals does weird things to teams.I think Gunston could be a big loss for the Hawks. Will be an interesting prelim if it's freo vs hawks and i believe freo will choke as well and then Hawthorn will believe they can win another but god i hope they won't.
I think Freo will choke in the prelim and get eliminated there. Hawthorn v West Coast is my prediction for the GF (as much as it hurts me to say, given that means my team will get eliminated). Why do I think they'll choke? Because of their performance against Sydney on Saturday. It's not up to a premiership standard. Then again, neither are Hawks.
Tips this week:Crows to win (yes fairytale to continue)
Hawthorn v Crows
Swans v North Melb
Crows to win (yes fairytale to continue)
Also think North will win
That'll be nice if the Crows win, it means the Hawks are out (silently hoping and cheering). Now that'll be a funny one to watch. I really hope North win on Sat night. Give the swans a bit of payback for last year's prelim. They have made footy shit for the last couple of years because of all those premierships. Definitely the most arrogant, rough, cocky team at the moment. I pretty much hate all of their players esp Hodge/Mitchell/Lewis so it would be so amazing if they do lose. I reckon if they do lose they will never be as good as 2012-2014 and we will see and end to Hawthorn.

Also hoping North beat Sydney. Wonder if Franklin will play ... 8 years? 1 million a year?? ... can he even serve them for half of that contract??? #sydneyfail
He won't, been ruled out already for the rest of the season. Gives NM a very good advantage especially with a few others missing too. Either what his condition is, is very serious, or there's something else going on that they don't want the football community to know about.Just an opinion but I really think he is on drugs ... If you were AFL, would you want the public to know that a player that has been bringing in thousands and thousands to the game, and has been earning the AFL millions has been taking drugs for the past couple of years??? Everything said so far, the seizures, mental illnesses just dont sound true. Why would you play buddy after he has a seizure?
I think we genuinely have a good chance at winning against the Swans. If we win this week, then we go to WA for West Coast. There is a good chance we'll win that as well since we're only 1 of 5 teams to beat West Coast (and their team at the moment is pretty similar to what they had when we beat them).

Hope for your sake North Melbourne win! They were my favourite melbourne team going into the finals!
Changed my tip from Hawthorn to Crows tonight. I just have a feeling with Jack Gunston out + Adelaide's determination to do their former coach proud, I reckon they will prevail. It's a long shot, but hopefully they win.Same here, I can't wait to watch it, feeling as if its going to be one of the best games of the season. Go crows!
Tips for next week? :P
Freo v West coast derby i reckon in the grand final :P. Hope North go all the way though but my tip is for west coast/freo
Most boring football match. Why do we get public holidays for that crap? -.-
Wasn't it. I knew it was over within the first 15 minutes - their ball movement was too fast for West Coast. W/ Josh Kennedy kicking no goals, that signals something went wrong. I was looking forward to it as well, seeing West Coast thump Hawthorn - but it wasn't meant to be!I still would have been happy if Hawthorn won, but was a close, unpredictable, exciting match. As you said after the 15th minute it was obvious on who was going to win. So much build up to the grand final, even a public holiday but the match stank.

If that is supposed to be a game between ''the two best teams'' the AFL has serious problems.
Now how about those 5 goals from Aguero in Manchester City's 6-1 win 8)
Top of the league!
AFL is flawed. They need to lose the finals system and stick to the to of the ladder. I know for soccer, it almost makes every second weekend feel like a final.
2 weeks until Round 1! Thought i'd start by bumping this thread again.Haven't really been following the off-season because I've been so busy but looking forward to seeing how Collingwood progress this year. So many list changes and very exciting prospects like Adam Treloar to play should make their season exciting. I don't think they will get too far though.
Start your 2016 discussions........... now!

Other interesting things will be seeing how Hawthorn go, their defence will have many holes this year.
Essendon will be interesting. Do they deserve to play on ANZAC day? Will they win a game?
oooh and for those who follow the Footy Show the Garry Lyon saga will be interesting.
I am planning on going to three games this week. It has been much too long. Are you dead set srs?

Joined! My lack of AFL knowledge will be revealed to all hahahaDefinitely worth it, such an amazing spectator sport during a big game.
Might head down to a few random MCG games after hospital given I'm within walking distance and have a cheeky MCC membership ;) Shame my team will be as competitive as my local under 12s hahaha
My only tip is North for the premiership, amirite Aaron?
Essendon
Brave tip!

Oh god, this game! I can't tell whether Richmond are playing bad, or Carlton are playing good ??Thought Richmond were shocking today.
A nice fact to think about: North Melbourne haven't won a Round 1 game since Brad Scott took over as coach (which was 6 or 7 years ago now...)
Hopefully Saturday night is the first!
How embarrassing. Looks like I won't be following football this year.
I'm very excited for the Hawthorn v Geelong match tomorrow :D
Thought the Dons were bad, then saw how the Pies were going hahahahaha.:(
:(
Top it off with Dane Swan's injury. He is gone I reckon he will have no interest in playing if we play like that.
GO CATS!
Up the cats

But in all seriousness, it's only Round 1 so maybe wait till Round 7-ish before everything settles down a bit.
Though I'm more interested in the debutants that have come through Round 1 since majority of them have been pretty good (Rising Star looks to be an interesting one this year)!

Already have the lead by two tips, Great effort this week by the doggies!
Some really close calls for Round 2: Adelaide vs Port Adelaide, Brisbane vs North Melbourne (let's not underestimate Brisbane, especially at home) and Hawthorn vs West Coast are only a few of the tough decisions us tippers need to make.
I'm thinking Richmond v. Carlton, Melbourne v. Greater Western Sydney and Geelong v. Hawthorn. But I guess the Melbourne game is the only one I will absolutely, definitely go to.Wonder if you ended up going to all these of these games. These three were probably the best of the first round!
Wonder if you ended up going to all these of these games. These three were probably the best of the first round!
Wonder if its too late to start tipping?
I did win last season ;)
Thought I would join the AN tipping competition. I have not watched an AFL game for about 4-5 years, the last thing I remember is seeing brendan fevola kicking a goal and hitting the post (slightly) and they had to review it haha. Anyways I joined but its too late to tip for round 1 right?
Always sucks when Collingwood win hahaThis ^
RIP my round 2 tips. Last time I played footy I broke two bones in my arm, but this feels worse in every way.
I'll see y'all next season! :'(
Following last weeks tips I am hereby retiring from tipping.
Pretty close comp.
1st can pretty much go to 7th after just one bad round..
And vice-versa 7th can go to 1st if they have a good round.
What the hell happened to Freo hahahaI know right! From Minor Premiers to 0 - 6? wot :-\
What an eventful day in footy. Carlton defeats Freo and Melbourne defeats Richmond. All we need now is for Essendon to defeat Collingwood tomorrow and it'll be the cherry on top!No way!! :P
No way!! :P
Guessing you're a collingwood supporter? ;D ;D ;DHeck yeah.
At least your wobbly forward has been dropped - that's something!
Heck yeah.
Urgh he is finished. Was about time we dropped him. Kicked two goals in the first quarter in the VFL today and then he disappeared for the rest of the game!
900k a year player playing the VFL gg collingwood
Friday night primetime, 1st vs 2nd. Finally a game where I can watch it on Free to Air instead of paying for a Live Pass and watching it on my 5.2" mobile screen!!Tomorrow's game will be the best of the round. GWS and Hawthorn will also be a cracker IMO, I reckon it will be really close.
Any games this round you're definitely going to/watching?

Really tempted to put the pies in for a win. I just have a little feeling that they might - upset win. Although I have the cats down at the moment.God damn it :(
God damn it :(
I'm wondering whether the Hawks v Swans game last night was terrible, or really good due to pressure.
Hawks lose= happiness
So it was a good match :)
I agree, but this is worrying for my team who play the Swans next week (AT THE SCG). I just want NM to be undefeated forever!!! Especially now we have three main players out due to injury. Boo.If they beat Sydney at the SCG they will definitely become premiership favourites. I can't believe people still think NM aren't favourites. Looked at the odds and iirc Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney, West Coast and EVEN GWS are ahead of them.

They need a big scalp and beating Sydney at SCG is one.
I find it quite funny - even when we've beaten Adelaide and the Bulldogs, it's always been 'oh but its only Round 1' for Adelaide, and 'oh but 3 players are down' for the Bulldogs. It has made the season so much more exciting. Rather than just one or two teams dominating the competition we have about five teams that are in premiership contention and also minor teams causing major upsets. This season is going to be the best in a while and not just because Hawthorn will not win it :P.
BUT if we are to lose tonight against Carlton (for example), given we have injuries now ourselves, the whole 'excuses' thing won't be taken into account at all. Even if we beat the Swans next week (slim chance), doubters will find something to use an excuse or justification for the win (e.g. 'oh, they were just recovering from their win against the Hawks, pretenders!!! haha').
People are missing the point - even though we may have nearly lost to St Kilda and Essendon, the fact is that we managed to pull ourselves out from a dangerous situation. I think with the fierce competition this year, it isn't wise to discount ANY team from a potential win, because we can see how fast things change (e.g. collingwood beating the cats, when they are apparently premiership favourites).
Really cannot win :P
I think this is a match where a win by the Roos can shut up many of the critics.
Agreed. Sydney's defense is weakened with Ted Richards out. Inclusion of Wells + Wright for NM mean that our midfield + defense are strengthened just that tad more (in addition to the big tall forward line). Just a matter of how badly Buddy can impact. They'll need like 3 on 1 for him.We do give away some height with Richards out especially with no inclusion of a tall KPD (not that we have that many due to injuries) but I think our smaller defenders in Grundy, Rampe and Laidler can get the job done against Brown, Waite and Petrie especially if they can zone off their man and impact the contest as third man up. Coupled with windy weather leading to less one-on-ones in the forward line, it'll give our small-mid defenders especially Jones and Mills to cause some damage (would be nice to see what Jones will get up to if he picks up Harvey in the forward line as Cunningham/Mcglynn rotates off him from the midfield).
Don't need to rant on again about how unjust I think the criticism is because I think everyone who reads this thread knows how biased I am, but safe to say that I really hope NM win tomorrow night.

Good luck tonight :)Thanks xD
Thanks xD
Happy to see my prediction was on point with the backline and absolutely loved Jones late run in the midfield (bit of a mongrel that one)! Unfortunate about the missed set shots by your forwards and missed snaps but Scott will have something to work with this week no doubt! All happy that there's no injuries today!
Yeah, i'm not going to be one of those 'BUT ITS THE UMPIRES FAULT!!!', because Swans were clearly better tonight. It's 1 loss, we're still on top, no big deal. Our forwards were very quiet tonight and I was screaming once again at my TV because of their stupid decision making. Anywaayyyy.... well done!Yeah sometimes people are a bit too salty with the umpiring (see free kick count for Bulldogs vs. Crows this year). Sure they're expected to try and get things right and they'll be some blunders as well (50m to Sydney from Thomas was interesting LOL).
(Jeez, that umpires thing really gets on my nerves whenever a team loses).

I'm more interested how they'll judge dropping of the knees with these frees for high tackles (since they're predominantly just focussing on their upper body with ducking of the head an emphasis to not awarding the free as seen here).
Geelong loses to Collingwood last week, and Carlton this week = premiership tag remains
North Melbourne loses to Sydney at the SCG = pretenders
How funny.
It's quite unfair how the focus is on Lindsay Thomas from last nights match. Okay, as a NM supporter i'll be the first to admit that he does it.... but it's not like he's the only one that does it. I can also recall the Swans got pinned for something similar during the game as well...... I'm sure I can list quite a few players that duck as well. Very unfair criticism of NM overall tbh.I think it's more highlighted with Thomas since the result of his free = set shot for goal compared to midfielders who get a free kick for high contact which just = possession most of the time... Luckily Swans only have one real player who cops high contact quite often (Hewett but is a gem) otherwise no real standouts imo.
Geelong's been up and around there for years. North hasn't.
When North is a top side for the best part a decade and there are still doubters, then complain :P
I can't believe I haven't linked this yet, but I spend the majority of my life worshipping The Squiggle.
Thank me later.
I like their season forecast :-) Says Syd v NM grand final !
How accurate it is, I have no idea. :P
It's entirely accurate in that it reflects what the statistics say. Historically, it's a pretty good tipper, and has a number of algorithms that it runs off.
It updates live during games. Before tonight, it had North finishing 8th, so the top 8 is obviously ridiculously bunched at the moment. If ever you get time, read this 270 page thread. It's my favourite thing ever.
I don't see Travis Cloke staying at Collingwood after this season (whether he gets traded/leaves, or retires)Yeah I see Cloke moving on but probably staying within Victoria rather than move out to Fremantle (though the prospect of Fremantle snagging Cloke and eventually McCarthy would give Fremantle a much improved forward line with Pavlich possibly retiring end of year and Mayne moving on but they'd have to work on his defensive pressure).
To get dropped from two big games (ANZAC & Queens), that's embarassing.
In other news: looking forward to the Cats v North game on Sat night :D
There goes my tipping margin... tipped 65 points and was still nearly 50 short.
Yeah I see Cloke moving on but probably staying within Victoria rather than move out to Fremantle (though the prospect of Fremantle snagging Cloke and eventually McCarthy would give Fremantle a much improved forward line with Pavlich possibly retiring end of year and Mayne moving on but they'd have to work on his defensive pressure). He still has one year of his 900k a year contract left, so if he was to be traded the receiving team would have to fork out 900k for just a year. Definitely not worth it, the game has gone well past him, not even a quarter the player he was back in the day (2-3 years ago). He would probably help out a developing team at this stage (e.g. Gold Coast, Brisbane, Essendon), get consistent games, leadership and kick 1-3 goals a game.
Either way, Cloke will still make around $500K since you massive forwards don't exactly grow on trees (despite the game now favouring tall, mobile forwards).
Pi and I have been neck and neck for like the last 7 rounds. One of us has to take the lead sooner or later. Who's going to make the risky tip?? :P. We've both been taking no risks and choosing higher percenters over the last couple of weeks because all we need to do is keep the score we have to win. Who's going to lose their patience? :P.

Come on NORTH!! Beat these bunch of over rated scums!!!
Great game. Great tip.
I don't think the last play was a free kick, was it MacDonald? Wait he got injured. But whoever he was he realised he stuffed up and then tried to milk a free kick.
That game should have been won by NM by at least 20 points. I can't believe they lost that. Terrible kicking and the first four-five Hawthorn goals were practically given to them by stupid North-Melbourne free kicks (Ziebell, Thomas, Harvey etc).
Majak Daw should never play a game of footy again unless Brad Scott puts him in defence or ruck. He is not a forward.
Mason Wood is going to be a freak.
And I am so disappointed they lost that, should have smashed the scum they dominated yet still lost. What was worse was that dick Lewis kicked the winning goal -.-.
The bright side to this game is that it shows Hawthorn are no where near the quality they were back in the day. They won't win the premiership this year which is very pleasing. It will either be NM if they can fix up their kicking issues, Geelong or Sydney mark my words.
A week of controversy... glad it's over (mostly)! Match of the week?Easily tonight's match.
Easily tonight's match.Or not :(. Tomorrow's should be good
fmlAww man commiserations did not expect North Melbourne to slump like this. They for the past 4-5 years have been a ''very good team'', I thought this would be the year where they become a Hawthorn or Geelong, dominating games etc and a grand final guarantee kind of team, but it seems that every single year they are one step below.

I'm annoyed at the fact it's their own damn fault. No-one to blame this time, just pure shitty gameplay. We stayed in the majority of the game but it seemed like we just gave up in the last quarter.... Crows had far too many shots at goal.. What makes it worse is the performance we had against the Hawks last week, and then to do this is just pathetic.Yeahhh man that's the spirit!! I remember our 2010 premiership it wasn't until right at the END of the season where people finally started saying that we were genuine premiership contenders. At the start nobody even tipped us and throughout the middle there was a lot of ''buts'' and ''ifs'', it wasn't until the end.
ALTHOUGH - We have had two 6-day breaks in a row and we still have a fair few injuries. However, depth is what is required in a good team. So really no excuse. If the last 2 years has meant anything, it's that we'll fight back and surprise everyone yet again.
*Finally* temporarily ahead of Rod hahahaCongrats!!! You smashed everyone that round!
A record is about to be matched tonight, with it being broken next week. Brent Harvey (Boomer), what an absolute legend! He's been the absolute saviour of our club for ages. Woohoo!Going to the game, I'm keen af.
Going to the game, I'm keen af.
Which one? Tonight or next week? If we lose any of the next two matches we're in strife.Going to both! Haha.
Edit: If I had enough money, i'd get the limited edition framed jumper, looks so cool.
Fcking collingwood never tipping these bunch of flogs again they pretty much ruined my tipping record. Bunch of over rated players with no skill managed by some clueless idiots. Get ready for a massive membership drop next year Eddie unless you start sacking.

You posted this only 20 mins into the game - should have a bit more faith in your team (at that point in time, anyway) :PIt was in the 22nd minute or something, I think you guys were 40 something and we were 13. We were getting absolutely crucified, lost all seven or eight centre clearances, rebounding like a bunch of pansies, no midfield existent, no possession of the ball. It was full domination and it was the earliest this year I ever stopped watching a game. My friend who was at the game (no joke) left the stadium at this moment. It was absolutely unbearable to watch, complete torture. Ofcourse you being a NM supporter you wouldn't understand, you were on the other side haha.
You won a premiership six years ago, dude.
EDIT: Luke fkn Shuey
Talk about ruin tips... and they call us pretenders? @Adelaide & @Bulldogs
Bit harsh on Adelaide, playing Geelong at home has been tough for any team this last decade. Dogs should have won that though.Yeah definitely agree with Adelaide, Geelong are just too good at home. And for some reason when they are under pressure, or verse the good teams, they play seriously good.
I think this is perhaps the hardest round to tip since one of those early rounds where everyone got smashed haha
As for WB injuries crippled them today. A knee injury and a broken leg in three minutes far out.
Im guessing you support Melbourne Joseph? :D
But they're still contenders even with injuries and have lost? But when North Melb have 8 of their best 22 out with injury for an extended period of time, we're apparently pretenders. Absolute bollocks (please don't take this as an attack on you, i'm just absolutely sick to death of people not giving other teams the same criticism as NM).
In regards to the injuries themselves - that's absolutely shit (no other words to describe). However, they get paid substantially well + have access to some of the best medical around (and its not like they don't know the risks of the game). No one wants to see a player go down and out in that way.. Best wishes for their recovery :)
I think they've become that team to hate the last few years though to be perfectly honest, which imo is pretty reasonable. Why is that reasonable? Even when we were 9-0 at the start of the year, people were just waiting for us to fall (which I guess is fair in some way).... but I was under the impression that everyone wants to see a team other than Hawthorn win the flag this year (other than Hawks supporters themselves)?

In other news, HANDS OFF Mason Wood (RE-SIGNED!!) http://www.nmfc.com.au/news/2016-07-24/wood-thomas-resign
I can't speak for everyone and it'd probably be fair to say that there's a degree of irrationality in people's choices of clubs to hate, but personally I don't like them mainly for the fact that they tanked last year and got away with it. Final round last year, rested half their players so that they'd be fresh for the finals. Proof was in the pudding there because they played the Tigers two weeks in a row, got pumped the first time and then won the second with all their players back. Then you add onto that Brad Scott and boomer, two of the biggest flogs around, and yeah, doesn't exactly make for a well loved team.
With that said, that's kind of always been the way with NM. Really good fan base that have stuck by their club really well, but not exactly a well loved team by everyone else. Which is kind of the best of footy hey? :p
That's quite an interesting perspective - I haven't heard anyone give that opinion before. Obviously i'm not going to dispute any of that (too much) because of my biased view towards NM, so fair enough :) All I can say Boomer is far from a flog, gonna break the all time games record next week (try and beat that!)
I'm aware of that tank, they got permission from the AFL to do so (i'm surprised you didn't mention Fremantle as well since they did the exact same thing?). This brings forward the current issue the AFLPA is trying to push through - reorganised BYES (and adding one?) so that the players have ample rest opportunity. One would argue that the current bye implemented at the end of round 23 is beneficial, but in my opinion I think it's far from it. My view is that they're getting paid a shitload of money to kick a ball around, so they should suck it up.
I can completely understand dislike for teams and of course that's part of any sport (just like I hate Collingwood ::) ) We've come a really long way - from a terrible team when Brad Scott started to making 2 consecutive prelim finals (whilst not getting AFL funding props like some other clubs do).
Why is that reasonable? Even when we were 9-0 at the start of the year, people were just waiting for us to fall (which I guess is fair in some way)....
(i'm surprised you didn't mention Fremantle as well since they did the exact same thing?)
Regrettably.Haha well you guys have beaten us two times in a row now. And have a brighter future than us currently. Hogan is so exciting to watch.
Rod back at #1 haha, knew it wasn't going to last :'(Hahaha you'll be back I know it. I'm only winning because of that margin. Gotta keep my game up! xD

OHHHHH it felt so good pushing West Coast and tipping against collingwood. I really don't care if we get smashed by 100+ next week in fact I hope we do.
Did lol at the scabbed goal from the goal square.😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Just reflects his career amirite?Same here. As if you would take that, he wanted it. One of the headlines I read was ''Harvey the team player'' I lol'd so bad.
Reasons why the MCG is better than Etihad:
- More space
- It has a soul
- Better viewing
- Hell's Bells before the Dees run out
- No Brenden offering unwanted snacks
- Less likely to watch North

- Sometimes warmer
''I feel (more so I'd prefer it) that the top 8 is not locked up.
I REALLY really really really want to see North Melbourne out of the finals chase.
I personally don't think that they deserve to be there. I'd love it if Melbourne or Port could knock them off. With 4 matches remaining, hoping North don't win another game for the season.'' - Likes 74 from AFL FB

Thoughts everyone????
We'll win against Dogs on Sat night. Are you just trying to engage in the North bashing again cos we beat u last week lol? :PHaha I'm still scarred because of that.
I reckon we've got a good chance of winning all 4 games tbh. We pretty much have home ground advantage to all but the Hawks game at the MCG.
Haha I'm still scarred because of that.
This next 4 weeks as well as the finals will be a big challenge for NM. They have been the most under-rated time this whole season, if they can actually do what you say and end up reaching the GF or even better, then they'll prove everyone wrong.
If they don't I seriously think Brad Scott should go he has had so much time. IMHO, NM for years have been a very good team but have never been able to reach that next step. They are getting old as well, they aren't a young team, don't have any prodigies like Darcy Moore/Joe Daniher/Marcus Bontempelli.
Wondering what you think. You for the whole season have complained because NM have been under-rated so much. Do you still think they will win the premiership and prove everyone wrong?
Same here. As if you would take that, he wanted it. One of the headlines I read was ''Harvey the team player'' I lol'd so bad.Rubbish. He ignored Buddy Franklin level deals to move to Carlton, Hawthorn - could've been a 5 time premiership player with the latter. Toiled hard at the Roos with no premiership reasonably in short-term sights for a long time. Definitely wanted the goal, but at the end of the day, it was a hilarious, and a good bit of fun - what footy's about.
Haha I'm still scarred because of that.Brad Scott's been top notch imo. Dean Laidley was 100% right to give it up - did the right thing by the club - Brad Scott's developed a really robust team that's a legitimate chance of winning premierships - something that probably hasn't been the case since Wayne Carey left the club. He has had so much time - yes, 7 years, but he's achieved 4 final series including this year - 2 prelims, one of them a solid shot at winning in hostile territory. Potentially another to come... He's no Hardwick. Great player retention, membership records broken yearly. There's a lot right about NMFC, and a lot right about Brad Scott.

Thoughts of the Cyril high from the Melbourne v Hawthorn game?
@Joseph hope you are happy :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Awesome. Bombers finally won a game. Good on them
RIP my tips.
Was just wondering, when does our AN comp end? Round 23 or after grand final?
Just asking because Pi is getting closer and closer to what was once my superior margin xD xD. Idk how much more longer I can cope! :(
I think it would be appropriate to remove Sine from the competition? He hasn't tipped in like 5 or 6 weeks and I remember a lot of people being removed early on for not tipping.
What are y'all on at the moment? I have no idea why I didn't join that competition.
Here you go :)Sounds good! Two weeks is good. Yeah it's just annoying when people just leave the competition and don't tip, next year just automatic removal.
P.S - If anyone has any suggestions you'd like to see in a potential tipping system for next year, feel free to PM me with your ideas.
What are y'all on at the moment? I have no idea why I didn't join that competition. What??? All this time I thought you were ''Pawn'' or whatever, who is he then??!?!
I fucking hate football and everything about it.
Bad luck man...
You say that, but you must be so happy inside :P
I am. But the right thing to do is be respectful (even though most of the regulars on here absolutely hate on North). :)
Why has North Melbourne gone batshit crazy? [`430* Marks]
*and counting
Marks? You sure you don't mean games? I was shocked to hear this too (i'm actually a little bit pissed off to be honest). Firrito, Petrie + Dal Santo all deserve to be given the boot but Boomer, absolutely not.
I have a feeling Boomer will be given some sort of coaching/mentor role at North... meaning it won't be totally *over*.
hahah it was meant to be an essay question, shit joke leave me alone :p
100% agree with you. Even if they are worried about his footy starting to fade, he still deserves to leave on his own terms. He's good for the club and having that kind of guy around is good for the other players there too.
Also, can you imagine how all the other players would be feeling about that? As if you'd want to commit to a club that treats its "greats" like that.
hahah it was meant to be an essay question, shit joke leave me alone :pI got the joke and lol'd! xD
This is hilarious, even North supporters hate North right now hahahahaI know haha. This totally wrecks the culture of the footy club. Basically ''come serve us, play your best, and when we don't need you f*** off''. Terrible for the culture of the footy club tbh, should have been handled better.
good bye margin :(
Well WCE has just royally fucked the ordering of the top 8 now (could literally be any team apart from Sydney that sit in 5th spot who North vs in the finals - depending on how the rest of the round turns out).54. Could have easily been 70+ WCE smashed them and so many missed opportunities. Darling and Kennedy could have had 10+ between them.
What was your margin? Leaderboard hasn't updated yet.
We've had an expectantly shit season, but what a show from the boys against the blues! Hopefully nothing dramatic happens in this last Q and we can cruise to a win. Not even mad I'll lose the tip.
(rip if north gets either WC at Perth or Adel in Adel).
What are Hawks doing... edit: what a game though! edit2: THAT IS RIGHT, F*CK RIGHT OFF PIES, YOU WON'T RUIN MY TIPS AGAIN
Also shame Saints couldn't keep that margin with a game 50 points less on each side haha :'( Dons first wooden spoon for a while
Hawks are in a bit of trouble come finals - let's be honest.
You said the same for Cats hahahaha, wonder who'll reign supreme in that game :P
It's difficult to say who's going to be in the grand final now - the fact that all teams have had really good wins at some point and have had some shockers too balances it out. The pressure and intense environment of finals can change the impact of a game - a team that is great can fall on their sword, and a team that is terrible can turn things around because there's something on the line now (e.g. elim finals - you lose you're done). There's definitely a divide between the H&A season and finals, that's for sure.
Very true, should be a very interesting few weeks! :D
Good to see Freo win it for Pav, what a champion.
lmfao best thing I've heard all year http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/richmond/afl-richmond-fan-mario-from-doncaster-has-sen-hosts-in-stitches/news-story/2f4d820a12a7f4ca144cdf7d07a195b2
What a way to end that final!!! Amazing stuff... I don't even barrack for Geelong and i'm absolutely thrilled!!
Not a great way to say farewell to four champions :/ Hope they can cut some of this back in the final term...
Commiserations, Aaron. Sad match.
Who's everyone backing?
Who's everyone backing?
Anyone but Hawks :P I have a soft spot for Geelong though, coming from near-ish to there <3Yeah the effort was terrible tonight, I actually thought NM would come in with extreme intensity because of Harvey, Petrie etc. Sad end for NM, I reckon they won't make finals next year, going to slip to 10-12 and rebuild from next year.
supercoach anyone?
Honestly, you could spend 25 hours a day on SuperCoach. I've decided not to play it this year because it was legit starting to ruin neutral games for me haha.ahaha so true. I used to keep track of some games I would never even think of following.
ahaha so true. I used to keep track of some games I would never even think of following.
The amount of time I invested in it a few years ago was simply absurd.I can shamefully relate with this
^Who's your premiership tip this year, Aaron? :)
Anybody else looking forward to the Grand Final replay tonight? :DI'm curious to see the outcome for this one- god help my fb newsfeed if the Dogs win hahaha :p

Who do you follow?! Is it Melbourne?!Nope!
Nope!
The roos ftw aha ;D
(Also an unrelated fact- my grandpa (who barracks for Collingwood) legit looks like Eddie McGuire, haha)
What is it with the prevalence of North fans on these forums? Hahahaha.I have 2 teams I severely dislike lol- Colli
Do you have a team you severely dislike? ;D
Tips for this week?definitely not collingwood

Man, I am just going to randomise my tips next week. So so.. frustrating lol
rip us for taking a player made out of glass from you guys
Really enjoying this game.
For Aaron's sake and Brenden's sake and insanipi's sake, get up, North!
Really enjoying this game.I wouldn't say it is intense, but can say it is an intriguing game ahaha
For Aaron's sake and Brenden's sake and insanipi's sake, get up, North!
I feel for North. That deliberate call was beyond absurd.
Still sitting at the 'G.
I well and fucking truly hate this fucking game.
Still sitting at the 'G.Bad luck man, I wanted the Dees to win can't stand Freo. The Dees are looking good though, can't judge any team yet with just four games played. I'm sure they'll have a good season.
I well and fucking truly hate this fucking game.

Gee, Hawthorn.
*phew*. Saved for another week LOLI reckon 0-5 next week as well. Kind of feeling bad for them haha, the end of an era.
Oh dear... @ Carlton
Watching that reminded me of Melbourne 2012-13.
*SIGH*Feeling pretty bad for you, that would have been tough. Lead literally the whole game and gave away two cheap goals in the last 90 seconds. Darn.

Well this is literally the opposite of last season. First half was excellent second half was poor. Hoping for your sake it turns out the opposite this season, poor first half and strong second half :). Losing all those experienced players certainly didn't help, hmm Brad Scott :(
If we lose today 100% Bucks will be sacked mid-season I reckon.
What are your thoughts on Buckley? I actually quite him like as a coach (from an outsider's perspective, obviously). He was given a side that had been in two consecutive grand finals (three if you count the draw) and had won one premiership prior to his season. And all we've seen is our side going down. It felt as if Malthouse (our previous coach who was there for ten years) had spent ten whole years building a house from scratch. And in 2011 he finally got there, built that perfect, unbreakable house, that was ready for any challenge. He handed it over to Buckley and the last six years he has destroyed this house bit by bit. We have gone so downhill because of him.

Most new coaches are given teams that are going through a rebuild and have to start from scratch. We gave him such a good team but he has done nothing but fail. Chris Scott similarly was given a really good side to start with (transition from Thompson - Scott) and he won a premiership in his first season. And since then they have never really looked bad, have made finals every season but one.
Just from all that you can see that Buckley just isn't good. Not only are his game plans so weak but I feel as if he has really ruined the culture of the club. I feel as if the players play for someone they dislike. And if a group of individuals are led by someone they dislike that group can never prosper.
Mayne and Wells seem strange acquisitions
Better them than us. Oh, and how about Marley Williams? Pretty nice addition for basically nothing from the Pies :P
I was really surprised with the Williams trade at the time. North definitely got him for way under his value IMO. I rate him.I didn't rate him at first - my initial reaction was "great another bogan".. but he has turned out to be quite a good defender so far. Will turn out to be a good permanent replacement for Firrito.
Will turn out to be a good permanent replacement for Firrito.
Obligatory "I hate football" post for the week.
Just sliding in here to gloat.
Up the Tigs
Enjoy your ban.
Wonder if you will still have that confidence next week Trav ;) ?
P.S - This game is pretty good I gotta say
So glad they dropped Thomas & Swallow. Their performances were shocking not just last week but for pretty much all season so far.Yeah, good call on both accounts.
Yeah, good call on both accounts.
Congrats must go to North for their win last night... although gee, they still don't look that convincing in close games :)
And what has happened to the Swans??!! Did not see that loss coming at all!
How good was Ablett, though?!
Ablett was freakish, one of the better individual performances I've ever seen. Really needed some help though.
On the topic of him being booed - I can't understand it either, Aaron. It really is strange because usually there is some reason (however feeble) for the booing, such as a dirty act earlier in the game (or an earlier game), leaving a club or a controversial comment. With Ablett, though, there is none of that, so I can't quite wrap my head around it.
Tall poppy syndrome.
Thoughts on this weekends games? Personally, the only upset I'm leaning towards is Essendon over Freo, although I wouldn't be shocked if Brisbane knocked off Sydney, to be honest.
go back to the match against the Dees for a perfect example
We don't talk about that match.
I watch a lot of footy but tomorrow I'm going to my first collingwood match since 2012 ANZAC day. Really hope we beat the scum!
I'm pretty happy with that St. Kilda tip. I really rate them.
And that's exciting, Rod! ;D I hope you love it!
BOOM.
I've only just seen the scores. Congrats, Aaron - great win! ;D
What was your read on the match?
^Did the 64-0 break records? If not, it was surely close!
^Set in Blundstone, amirite?
It was the Kangaroos’ second biggest quarter-time lead ever. It was also the third highest score against a scoreless opponent at quarter-time ever with matches in 1925 and 1934 — Geelong 11.4 (70) v South Melbourne, and South Melbourne 10.8 (68) v North Melbourne — the only higher scores.
I can't believe you backed in North, Aaron - congrats on a great win!! :)Gotta support my team, always. I tip them every week regardless of the opposition because I probably couldn't live with myself if I tipped against them and they ended up winning.

I'm the exact opposite with Melbourne hahaha. Tips against every single week.
Well, so far, I have tipped one winner out of six. I am nearly ready to give up on tipping at this rate. Thank God the Dogs got up.The last time Adelaide played us in Tasmania it was a similar statistical story (ignoring the belting) - beaten at the contest, not as well coached/familiar with the ground as NM.
I can't believe you backed in North, Aaron - congrats on a great win!! :)
I went in to the Doggies game last night (as a passionate Dogs supporter, for those who don't know) and it was a pretty ripping game. We were probably lucky to get the win in the end, although it felt like we were coming all night. Geez, Richmond marked the ball well all game!
Here's hoping I can double my current tipping tally today ;)
It's very interesting for North though because we've got a string of winnable games running into the bye. It's not inconceivable we get on a good run and give ourselves an opportunity to qualify for finals.
Get around North tomorrow!;) Count on it. I have been really pissed off lately that they havent decided to Free-to-air our games. I figured out a way to stream from the app on my phone to my PC screen so it kinda is a good alternative, I guess.... I think they removed the saturday arvo FTA as well.

Joseph41, I imagine you'd be pretty happy right now?Tag Sloane, spare defender.
What has happened to Adelaide?! Did not see it coming, I have to admit.
And Geelong has been bloody terrible the last three weeks.
Tag Sloane, spare defender.
North Melbourne says you're welcome ;)
I think it's the Cam Pedersen factor. All Australian ruckman.
All Australian ruckman.
Max Gawn will still be AA, with Jake Spencer and Cam Pedersen on the pine. 8)
Ah, the delusions of Dees supporters :) I would argue, but the Dogs don't currently have a ruckman. Lin Jong?
Tbh I reckon Braydon Preuss is a solid bolter for AA...Wouldn't that be a story. First year ruckman gets AA. Brilliant stuff.
GL Nick 8) Are you going to the game?
The same to you! :) Here's hoping to no injuries either way.
I definitely would be if I didn't have work. :-\ How about you?
Nah. I am too vocal to be physically at games. I'd get removed from the ground. Try and be a NM supporter and you'll understand why :P
At least I can shout, scream and rant at inconsistent football from the comfort of my own home. It's on Free to air.
Solution: support Melbourne. Losing just becomes part of the game day experience. It's a lifestyle, really.
Congrats, North friends. :)
Loving this season tbh. Similar to last year, there are so many darn contenders for the premiership. So hard to tip as well. This is footy at it's best, and I'm enjoying it despite Colliwobbles.Makes me nervous every week. I'm on 46 tips this season so far.
Thanks Nick :) I reckon both our teams are in a bit of trouble come Monday (MRP). Whether this be fines or suspensions.
You guys fought hard and definitely made us earn it.
I look forward to paying you back in 2046.
Tips for this week (minus Geel v Ade & Port v Haw that's already played out):
Gold Coast v WCE (Metricon)
GWS v Essendon (Spotless)
Richmond v North (Etihad)
Fremantle v Collingwood (Domain)
Hoping for 5/6. Got 1 so far (Port)
I reckon that Gold Coast tip is pretty savvy. I think I would have done the same. Absolutely no clue who I would have tipped out of Geelong and Adelaide haha.
Are you confident for the North game?
Am I confident about North? Ha.... That's funny. The fact we've won 4 out of the last 5 gives me hope that this means we've finally found our rhythm. I mean, 2 games out from top 8. Richmond is a good scalp.
What's funny about it? Haha.
I reckon Etihad helps.
We only got into the finals based on % (due to a certain team not being able to beat carlton and geelong... in 22 + 23)
I regret asking. :(
Just did a ladder predictor. Finished with:
1. Greater Western Sydney
2. Adelaide
3. Western Bulldogs
4. Geelong
5. Port Adelaide
6. West Coast
7. Richmond
8. Fremantle
9. St. Kilda
10. Essendon

12. Collingwood
13. Sydney
14. Melbourne
15. Gold Coast
16. Hawthorn
17. Carlton
18. Brisbane
You don't seem to be giving the Dees much of a chance from here even though we'll hopefully have both Gawn and Hogan back for the Doggies game. We've been in with a chance every game this year and we'll be a stronger side with Gawn and Hogan back, however, we'll probably end up losing a few very winnable games and just miss out on the eight.
Massive win from the GCFC.
Huge game tonight for North/Tigers. I think they're deserving favourites but I'd definitely be nervous as a Richmond fan about this game.
What is a 'good side'? Someone like the Crows who got belted by North Melb (16th I think at the time?) + then Melb?
E V E N
A team that doesn't have a history of cruelling disappointing supporters, such as Richmond, North and Melbourne lol.
Can't argue with that.It's a tool offered on afl.com.au :)
By the way - where'd you do your ladder predictor? I am curious as to how some of the results were generated.
It's a tool offered on afl.com.au :)
Higgins was a very good acquisition for North.Yeah 100%. I think we've done very well. NDS, Higgins, Waite - even Hrovat. Soon to come - Kelly, Martin, and Fyfe ;)

Does anybody on ATAR Notes support a good side? Hahaha.
yes 😏😏😏😏😏😏😏

Well I'd be estatic with that, as a Doggies fan.
I had you in mind, howey - didn't want to upset you. :)
Good to hear. General question - who would you rather have at your side - Martin, Kelly or Fyfe?
Clarification: do I only get them for this season, or for the remainder of their respective careers? And do I have to take into account what Melbourne would have to give up to get them?
I'll answer this anyway even though you directed it to Nick:
Kelly 100% if it's a long term deal. Young and already playing that good. Fyfe has flopped imo, not as good as he was a few years ago. Martin is good short term but getting old.
Yeah, I completely agree with you there - have to be Kelly given he's so young. What about if it was only for one year - would your answer change?
B || Neville Jetta - Sam Frost - Joel Smith
HB || Jayden Hunt - Tom McDonald - Michael Hibberd
C || Christian Salem - Clayton Oliver - Jordan Lewis
HF || Christian Petracca - Jesse Hogan - Jack Watts
F || Jeff Garlett - Cam Pedersen - Mitch Hannan
R || Max Gawn - Jack Viney - Nathan Jones
I/C || Dom Tyson - Bernie Vince - Billy Stretch - Aaron vandenBerg

Off the top of my head (so probably missed a few), I reckon that's close to our best 22. Looking at that, I've firmed on Dustin Martin. Would seriously make it an amazing and dynamic midfield.
I think I'd take Stephen May over all three, though.
So if you could take one player, would it be May?
As a Dogs fan, I reckon I'd take Josh Kennedy (West Coast). He's a gun at the Eagles and we've got an ever better mid, so he could be unstoppable.
You'd take Kennedy over Franklin?
Yeah, I would. More goals in the last three seasons, comfortably. Dogs have the midfield to hit him up consistently.
Probably fair enough for the Dogs due to the dominance of your midfield. I feel Kennedy relies on it a bit more than Franklin does.
Your own team aside, who would you prefer?
A tough one. Despite both being key forwards, they're quite different players. Are we saying for one year or the rest of their careers?
For one year.Probably Franklin. I feel like he would be better in a weaker team than Kennedy.
Next year. Assume both are injury-free, and play all games.
Also agree Dees will smash the Pies and Buckley will be under pressure again.
People expecting Melbourne to win = Melbourne loses.
Which is a good thing, who doesn't want to see Bucks getting absolutely shredded in his post-game press conferences? ;D ;D ;D ;D
Who do you support, Rockson?
A team that's not doing too well at the moment hahahahaha :'( :'( :'( :'(
A team that's not doing too well at the moment hahahahaha :'( :'( :'( :'(
I'm going to guess Carlton?
This worked out well lol. Weird season.
Definitely looking forward to the footy today. Not usually a fan of big crowds, but at least the atmosphere will be decent haha.Good luck Nick :).
Good luck, Rod. ;)
Congrats Melbourne and Nick.
Unfortunately didn't get the time to watch the game due to exams, glad I didn't in a way haha. Good to see us competing in every single match though, hopefully we make finals this year.
A friend who did go to the game called me afterwards and he was really upset with the umpiring. From a Melbourne point of view, honestly what do you think? He said that he had never ever seen a game so badly umpired, apparently everything went Melbourne's way.
Ahh just saw the stats we were leading by like 30!!!
That's us every week don't worry hahahhaha
Collingwood crowd was getting ridiculous at times. Like, a very clear high tackle paid correctly would get a huge reaction for some reason..)
Definitely seen games worse umpired lol, and the Collingwood crowd was getting ridiculous at times. Like, a very clear high tackle paid correctly would get a huge reaction for some reason. I assume they were feeling hard done by, so decided to boo every single free kick we received hah. But yeah, definitely think we had the better end of it. (Will consider further on watching the replay, though.)
Tips R13:
GEEL
NM
RICH
PORT
GC
MELB
WCE - Domain stadium, Eagles are all over it!!Mmmm nope.
STK - Roos just aren't in it yet...Aside from the Richmond & GWS games, we have actually been pretty good. I have to admit last week was absolutely disgusting in terms of performance. If beating the ladder leader by 10 goals isn't "in it", i don't know what is. And you really can't say it was a one off or it was the ground - given Melbourne did the exact same thing the week after at Adelaide Oval.
Mmmm nope.Yeah, Ok...

I know we're 15th at the moment, could easily be in the top 8, it's that even. I know it's highly unlikely that we'll make finals this year - but like any supporter, one has to have hope.
I'd love to see Jacobs back in and playing again.ditto. We need our tagger back.
ditto. We need our tagger back.Super unfortunate I think that he re-injured himself before that game. I have a feeling he would have come in, and probably would have decimated Cotchin (again). Could have changed the game but, in fairness... the second half was one of the shittest things I've ever seen... Ever.
I'd rather people back that can actually win games for us. We barely even played against Richmond. It was a disaster.
Fark I got the exact margin right (13) for the WCE v GEE game, but wrong team. WhyyyyyyyySo brutal... Looked like Geelong might be out to get them in the final quarter!
So brutal... Looked like Geelong might be out to get them in the final quarter!
Deccy Mountford in for Ed WV (didn't realise Jacobs was still injured, thought he was available after the bye)... Interesting choice, keen to see how he goes!
I thought that was an interesting decision. I read somewhere that someone was going to debut to replace Ed...... would've liked to see Mitch Hibberd have a run. Goldy has been quite poor the past couple of weeks... I wonder if he has another bad performance whether they will grow some balls and drop him for a week like they did with Swallow and Thomas. Preuss has not had enough time to develop at senior level.Brad Scott said in his press conference that Goldy is not in his best form, but that he believes he's close to "clicking", to paraphrase. Fair call on Mitch Hibberd... hopefully Declan has a ripper. I think it makes sense given that D.M is our strongest runner to bring him in against St Kilda, who run hard when they're playing well - and DM lays tackles. St Kilda have been getting smashed with turnovers I've read - might just be a bit of strategy to bring him in.
Didn't see any of the match last night, but sounds as though it was a frustrating game for North supporters. How did Goldy play?Definitely better. Looked a strong target, kicked a goal, gave another on off. It was a decent game from him.
Big game today, howey! Wishing you a little bit but not too much luck. :)
That post above, nobody has voted but I'm sitting on -3. Karma for wishing you good luck. :(How weird is that! I have made it -2.. Another wonderful glitch :P
I don't know what this feeling is.
Nice win. Can we do the same to the Doggies next week?...... A year ago i'd say yes, but even I don't know what to expect anymore.Yeah I reckon. Don't rate 'em.
I don't know what this feeling is.
Congrats Nick, you absolutely dominated us, to be brutally honest. Looks like I owe you a sushi roll :)
You guys played really well and deserve heaps of credit, but gee, we played so poorly. Fumbly, indecisive, overusing the ball... as bad as I've seen us play in a long time. Huge game against North for us now next week (bring it on Brenden and Aaron), we just have to win - simple as that.
Thanks mate - definitely not in a position to be talking shit haha. Thought we had a good run again with the umpires early on, too - all important for momentum.
*sigh*. Lindsay Thomas suspended AGAIN. When he was on the receiving end of the negative attention for diving etc, you know.. I had some sympathy.. but the two acts in the VFL.. after seeing them, I just can't sympathise anymore.Bit strange, isn't it? At least he probably wasn't going to be brought back into the side in the next few weeks anyway haha.
Nathan Jones out for 4-6 weeks. How will this impact the Dees, Nick?
I reckon West Coast have got you this week. Top 8 might not be for long.
In other news: AFL Hall of Fame, at least North are winning something this season............ lol
We'd lose to West Coast in Perth even if we had Robbie Flower and Stan Alves on the wings lol.hahahahahahaha. lol.
brenden, I read today that Swallow is being considered as part of a trade w/ GC.... thoughts?I said to Nick a few weeks ago we should offload him to GC so he can play with his brother haha. If we got Josh Kelly - 100%, happy to offload. We're chock full of midfielders. At the moment, if Swallow wasn't on the list and Cunnington got injured in be very upset but if we add a super high quality mid to the list then really, there's no point Andrew Swallow wasting away in the 2s. He's too good for VFL.
Dunno how accurate it is, but imagine that... captain one year, sent packing a few later.
Turner out 3-6 weeks. Ffs.My hopes of Jed Anderson being dropped are gone!
Seriously, take a few minutes to watch this video.I read this article yesterday and it seriously elevated Nathan Jones to one of my most respected players.
It's probably because Jones and Neitz have been two of my biggest idols, but this gave me shivers.
Hmm. How much money should I put on this bet using these tipping ?
Might play around with 40 bucks.

4 matches so far this round where it's been decided by under a goal. Great stuff.
What a fkn sport.
Such a shame a good round was overshadowed by some .... interesting MRP decisions.
Brenden mentioned Cunnington today. I haven't seen it yet - your thoughts?
Below throat imo, should have been a fine. I would like to see it challenged. But.. risk of 2 weeks..... I dunno.
Which other MRP decisions are you referencing?
Do I dare reference it? :P
Schofield/Oliver?
Below throat imo, should have been a fine. I would like to see it challenged. But.. risk of 2 weeks..... I dunno.May as well. If he gets off, great. If he's out for two weeks- I'll take the #2 draft pick!

Ablett'll get 45 and kick 3.
NMFC:-* :-*
Coping mechanism:
Melbourne will lose tonight by 10+ goals.
Bye bye Bugg
What'd he do? Hard to tell at the game.
P.S. $4.60 and they don't even fill the coffee cup lel.
Should be 5+ weeks.
Ngl I'm actually surprised Sydney won. xD I saw the score at the end of the second quarter and was certain we'd can it.SYD is Accuracy International as usual :P :D
Bugg in big trouble
SYD is Accuracy International as usual :P :D
Come on Carlton!! :D
Vaguely possible to win this!
I am literally so fucking sick of this team. Swear to god.Just think of Q1 and Q4...
Just think of Q1 and Q4...
then the team almost looks good. :P
Well done LionsAmazing!!

Gee, my Doggies are struggling - facing an uphill battle to play finals now. By my calculations we'd probably have to win 6 out of our last 7, which is a huge ask.
Real life photo of howey doing the sums this morning:

You must be happy, Nick! Surely that's finals locked away now... and a sneaky top 4 chance?
Gee I really wanted North Melbourne to win so the pies can get the 2nd draft pick, but gee they always figure out a way to lose LOL
I don't think we've been heavily beaten yet. When have we been beaten by 100 points?Didn't say Collingwood specifically. I mean, look on the weekend. Richmond = belted, We belted Adelaide earlier in the season.. these are genuine top 8'ers at the moment. We haven't been belted like that (yet, lol). Look at our percentage too. It's such a fking shame.
And in all honesty I'd rather lose by 30 than lose by less than a goal.No arguments there. Five times now where we've lost this season ALONE by under a goal. Just BS. I partially blame Todd Goldstein for the miss, but looking at the bigger picture... we could've easily won it if we switched on in the first quarter. Our own fault, like usual.
Hell no to Brad Scott lolY not? He might get u to two prelims then ur back on ur ass where u are now. Celebrate good times come on!
Would you want Buckley? lolI would cancel my membership immediately if that happened. He is just crap, has not done anything substantial as a coach. Good player, bad coach.
I would cancel my membership immediately if that happened. He is just crap, has not done anything substantial as a coach. Good player, bad coach.I wouldn't mind someone like Crocker. Someone that has been within a coaching box of an AFL team for the last several years. A new face, youngish with lots of potential.
They (NM) need Horse. He won't leave the Swans though. I maintain what I said earlier, Crocker. Give him a shot. He wasn't terrible when he was filling in.
Well that was an intense finish, to say the least.
Well that was an intense finish, to say the least.
Dangerfield is easily the best player in the competition rn IMO. That game at full forward is just freaky stuff.
Ben Jacobs close?Probably Brownlow 2018. He's ruled out for the rest of this year, not gonna risk one of the best.

Jesus, some big changes for North this week. Goldy dropped entirely.
I'm excited for Daw.
Eddie McGuire's going to be hosting the footy show again. Not kidding.Very smart producers.

Didn't see any of it (at the other game), but sounds like there were positive signs for North?
Didn't see any of it (at the other game), but sounds like there were positive signs for North?Extremely positive signs - looked great on the outside today. We had the better of the game until the final quarter imo where we just blatantly ran out of legs.
Huge win for the Dees, Nick - you must be pumped!! I didn't see any of it but assuming you played well?
I was mildly concerned near the end of the third and during the fourth quarter.
You know the Dees have had a good day when their supporters were only mildly concerned... having been conditioned to be always concerned
Nice wins, Trav and Rod!
No need to worry about the wooden spoon with that guaranteed win next week, Aaron.
Inconsistent vs Inconsistent
Wonder who will be less inconsistent? I wouldn't hold my breath - we have so many fking injuries and newbies.
One positive: draft pix :)
Negatives: I have to put up with the shame of an unperforming team
the big Preuss returns
Would love Hawthorn to get up here.Absolutely!
GL Nick
Same to you (and Brenden) mate!
Will you be watching?
Sweet.:'(
Congrats Aaron, condolences Nick - was a good game nevertheless.
Any predictions for tomorrow guys (my beloved pies that is?). Haha. How many are we going to lose by?
Sweet.
Yeah, that loss sucks. If there is a God, he really is cruel to Melbourne supporters...

Absolutely heart broken. 50 point lead. McGovern marked it with legit 0.20 seconds to go. Even the commentators called that Adelaide would never be able to get back 5 mins into the 3rd quarter :'( :'( :'(.
Oh well, what a game of footy. Every week is so exciting this season, can't imagine how the finals will be like.
Well, you still got 2 points. Better than 0.13th vs 16th.
See you next week :)
It was, at least, consistent with previous MRP decisions.
True. Although I though Mumford's tackle on Libba earlier in the year was quite similar, and that got nothing. But you're right, there have also been similar ones that have copped weeks.
Thoughts on the Dangerfield suspension?
Personally, I think he was pretty unlucky (and I'm not a Cats fan). It was definitely an unfortunate incident but I'm not convinced he really did anything wrong - he didn't sling or lift Kreuzer. I thought it was pretty much the perfect tackle really - pinned the arms and, to be fair, you have to be pretty forceful to try and bring someone like Kreuzer down.
If will certainly be a bit awkward if he polls the most votes now... and then has to go up and hand over the medal to someone else (probs Martin)
Hutchy was essentially arguing that Danger should get off because he's in Brownlow contention. Such an absurd concept.Only quoting this post but I'm quoting the entire discussion, really.
We've only lost one, yes ONE game when Wells has been playing for us so hope that trend continues haha.Dont hold your breath. He will stuff his leg up again... its only a matter of time. Still can't believe how you guys got him for $650k per for 3 yrs. That's insane... dont even get started on Mayne's deal.
It's just going to light up a lot of discussion - like what else could have Grundy done?
I agree. In my opinion, very similar to the Dangerfield tackle in that it regrettably resulted in an injury, but was a perfectly legal and textbook tackle. As you say, I don't know what else he could have done, other than let Brown run off with/dispose of the ball to a teammate.I agree. Either we need to change what is a legal tackle, or we need to stop saying something is dangerous only when someone becomes injured. Dangerous is a concept entirely removed from consequence - it's about potential. If Grundy's tackle was inappropriately dangerous, make it an illegal tackle and put it in writing. Otherwise, enjoy your free kick, bad luck Ben Brown.
Having said that, I think he'll get a week or two because the precedent has been set now. Tackle + Concussion = Suspended.
What. He could have chosen not to pin the arms of the man he was tackling and not sling him to the ground?
He's got agency, he chose to make the tackle in that way and there's definitive proof he failed to protect the head whilst doing so. Let's not pretend there's nothing he could have done differently.
This. So. Much.Surely injury can't make something not-perfect in a contact sport? If the aim is to not hurt people and you hurt someone, then it would be imperfect. But if the aim is to say, take a mark without fumbling the ball, and in the process someone's injured in the contest, that mark doesn't become any less good.
Hearing that tackle described as the perfect tackle is grating. A bloke ended up in hospital as a result of that tackle because of a head injury, ipso facto, it was anything but perfect.

I don't see how a tackle becomes more or less perfect based on the result. It was perfect insofar that is how people get taught to lay tackles from junior footy onwards.
He could have done something differently, but probably not without improperly doing the job he's paid to do.

If he hadn't pin the arms Brown would have hand-balled the ball off to someone else. The tackle was high intensity because Brown is 200cm/100kg and so is Grundy.
Basically IF Grundy wanted the free kick there was nothing else he could have done. I thought it was just bad luck. And to punish Grundy for it isn't the way to go. If you want to stop this stuff what's suspending Grundy going to do? It's just going to create more confusion.
However, the idea that this concussion wasn't avoidable is, frankly, ridiculous. Yes, it was an accident. Just because an accident happens though doesn't mean that we shouldn't be consider (not necessarily enforcing) ways to prevent that from happening in the future. Naturally with any activity we have to accept some degree of risk, but where there are measures that can prevent concussions like this happening, we should be willing at the very least to discuss them and consider them, without simply just excusing this concussion as a foregone conclusion, which it clearly was not.Yes I agree with this. But rather than all the attention going into Grundy's possible suspension I think it should go towards how we can adjust the rules and as you say how we can PREVENT this happening in the future. It's going to spark a lot of discussion because in the last decade footy has gotten softer and softer - I'm not too sure if everyone wants that. I was watching a 2009 preliminary final and the tackling was so ferocious - it was so much more exciting to watch. Nowadays sometimes players are even afraid to tackle as they risk giving away a soft free-kick.

But I agree if it's for the safety of our players we need to make these compromises for the game. Who would want their children to play a game where at least one kid in the team gets knocked out every week?
But once again I just don't like the attention Grundy is getting. Last night on the AFL page the headline was ''PIE FACES NERVOUS WAIT AFTER TACKLE LEAVES ROO KO'D'' - It was an accident. Lets move on and discuss how we can prevent these things from happening in the future.

Grundy's been offered two weeks...I feel as if the MRP were pressured into doing it because they kind of cornered themselves with Danger. Like if Grundy hadn't have been suspended it would have raised an uproar on why Danger got banned and potentially stripped off another Brownlow.

Ah well I'm pretty disappointed. Banning Grundy will not do anything - more of these accidents will happen.
Banning Grundy will not do anythingThe fact that these incidents are being punished will most certainly mean that the rules regarding these sorts of tackles are reviewed at the end of the season. So to say that it won't do anything.. is pretty much incorrect. As long as the media hype continues.
As a Melbourne supporter, I'd have been happier with three. 8)
Must admit I'm pretty pleased with Mumford getting the 1 week... will help us fairly significantly

FINALLY someone with a brain!! I agree with the Facebook post completely. Brown also faked the concussion. He was having a bad day and knew he would have no impact anyway. It was all a diabolical plan!
Jesus christ I hope you're jokingI was lol. Offends me that you thought I wasn't lol wtf
I was lol. Offends me that you thought I wasn't lol wtf
As if you respond like immediately after I posted, I wasnt finished :(
Jesus christ I hope you're jokingYea I agree. I reckon it was all a conspiracy done by Gillon McLachlan - it was a set up. They hate Collingwood, if Grundy was in the team we would have won our last three matches and then made finals. Now finals hopes are officially over for us and Buckley is gone.
The ambulance was fake too, they hired a taxi driver with a taxi van to act as a paramedic for the stunt
maybe the Collingwood board paid Gillion to do this!An elaborate plan to gain attention in Collingwood's direction so they could promote Eddie for The Footy Show
What are everyone's tips for this round? :)
For me it's:
WB VS GWS
SYD VS FRE
GEEL VS RICH
BL VS GCFC
ESS VS ADEL
WCE VS CARL
MELB VS STK
HAWK VS NM
PORT VS COLL
Also keen to hear what everyone's predictions will be for the top 8, who just misses out and who doesn't.
dismal and depressing Kangaswho do you go for again?
Richmond supporters must be so up and about atm.
I hope they win a final (not being a smartass.. genuinely). Worst case to go out in straight sets. They've had a rough finals record the past few.
Great to see Gus Brayshaw back in the squad.Riewoldt didn't get up - massive for the Dees.
EDIT: A little surprised by the omissions, though.

Dunno about Geelong-Richmond mate. Just walked past punt road and they're out there at the moment looking pretty fitJust going with gut feeling plus it's at skilled stadium !
Just going with gut feeling plus it's at skilled stadium !
Yeah I agree mate. Was only stirring you. Can't see us knocking over Geelong down here, particularly when they lost their last match at SkilledHehe spoke to soon mate XD. No Hawkins, no Selwood, no worries!
"The home crowd gets behind them. Have a look at the free kick count," Hardwick said after the game.Bit of a cry-baby.
No finals wins yet, still won't have one at the end of 2017.If they go out in straight sets, Hardwick has to go (along with a very big list refresh). That will be like the 3rd time?
"The home crowd gets behind them. Have a look at the free kick count,"This literally happens at every home game for a team. The crowd clearly favours one team over another.
Was gonna join in and get stuck into Dimma but if you hear the quote in context it's pretty benign imo
He has a tendency to be a bit of a sore loser but not really convinced this was one of those times.
Yeah I agree, wasn't really whinging when you put it into context, was just a general comment.
What are people's thoughts on the Greene incident? Personally, I thought it was a terrible look, but I acknowledge I'm super-biased, being a Dogs supporter.
Surely he has to go. He fucking fly kicked Dalhaus in the head
Got all my tips right so far but looks as if NM going to ruin it :(. Poor football, I hope they can bounce back.Mhm. Good fight back from us in third, but hard when ur vs'ing 25.
Mhm. Good fight back from us in third, but hard when ur vs'ing 25.Yes definitely I great fight back. I watched it up until the haws were like 25 and NM were 1 was really frustrating to watch.
Example: Benny Brown marked at least 2 that should have been paid but weren't.
I 100% agree, wasn't a natural action.I wouldn't suspend him, think it was an accident and I'm no Tony Greene fan. If Dahlhaus were two inches taller, he gets hit in the chest. Greene had eyes for the ball and was protecting himself imo.
Mhm. Good fight back from us in third, but hard when ur vs'ing 25.

AFL umpires have to make split-second decisions, just like players. It's as simple as that. So let's all take a deep breath.
That screamer he took that wasn't paid was just about the saddest thing I've seen. He's a genuinely great guy - seems pretty well educated as well tbh. Definitely a favourite (hard not to love when he comes in and wins you finals in his 10th game lol)
EDIT: he tweeted this a couple of hours ago:
Class act. Really impressed by that.
Class act. Really impressed by that.
Not sure who I want to win this Dogs v. Port match!Right team won.
Pretty nervous today tbh.
Best of luck.
P.S. Dunno why you're nervous, it's not like Melbourne has a history of losing important matches ;)
Commiserations for the other day.
who will win the all-important 'spoon match'?I actually want to lose. We've stuffed up the season already so may as well get something out of it (pick).
Wishing all of the luck I can possibly muster to Brisbane and Melbourne this week!
Is this collingwood playing?Yep.
NMFC 80% time in forward half, trailing by 16 at quarter time.
Couldn't have hoped for a better start!
ha ha ha
How are the nerves today, J41?
I'm in the acceptance stage of grief.
Ha ha ha. Should still be fairly safe, surely?
Perth, last game at Subiaco, retiring club greats, dead rubber for Adelaide, Adelaide's poor record over there, no Talia/Walker.
Hmm.
Gee you're pessimistic. Seriously, I hope Adelaide are up by 10 goals at QT and you can breathe easy.
At least you're in the running.
WE FUCKING DID IT WE'RE IN THE TOP FOUR!!!
lol💔😩
Some true head-scratchers in the AA squad.
Some true head-scratchers in the AA squad. How Robbie Tarrant doesn't get in the squad is so fucking beyond me.
Like whom?
Worked Sundays the majority of the year, so will preface by saying that I've watched the least amount of footy this year since probably 2000. But:SpoilerEddie Betts: Fair enough selection. Hasn't had as dominant a year IMO, but still good enough for the 40 for sure.
Matt Crouch: Good call. Great year.
Sam Jacobs: Pretty weird year for ruckmen if you think about it. Ryder should be AA IMO, but no huge qualms with Jacobs' selection in the 40.
Rory Laird: Fair enough.
Jake Lever: I bloody hope Melbourne trades for him, and he's doubtlessly had a good year, but is getting a bit overrated IMO.
Tom Lynch: Really like him, still think he's underrated. Important player for Adelaide. Good selection.
Rory Sloane: Yep.
Taylor Walker: Shouldn't make the 22 but has had a good year.
Dayne Zorko: Should make the first 18.
Sam Docherty: Was better last year IMO. Don't think he'll make the 22.
Matthew Kreuzer: Good selection for the 40.
Jeremy Howe: Great year. Credit to him.
Adam Treloar: Nah. I rate Treloar, but I honestly don't think he's been AA quality this year. Would pick Cotchin and Oliver over him any day of the week based on this season alone.
Joe Daniher: Should make it.
Michael Hurley: No qualms.
Zach Merrett: As above. Still doesn't make up for last year's omission.
Patrick Dangerfield: Obviously.
Joel Selwood: Eh. Had a very good year, but IMO Duncan's been better.
Toby Greene: Interesting one due to games played. Is 16 games enough?
Josh Kelly: Should be just about first picked.
Tom Scully: Strangely, I actually think Scully's really underrated. Very important link-up player. I had him in my actual 22 last year.
Dylan Shiel: Fair.
Tom Mitchell: Ya.
Jeff Garlett: Nah - would prefer Fantasia. Garlett had a good year, don't get me wrong - but it was very patchy. I would have had him in the 40 a couple of months ago, but he dropped right off.
Michael Hibberd: Missed the first four through injury, but had to be selected. Great year.
Neville Jetta: Love him. Deserves the recognition. Very rarely gets beaten. He's in my 22.
Ben Brown: I have him just missing the 22, but a seriously impressive year. Obvious selection.
Robbie Gray: Yup.
Tom Jonas: I rate him as a player, but I think others were ahead of him this year.
Paddy Ryder: As above, he's my AA ruckman.
Dustin Martin: Sure.
Alex Rance: As above.
Dylan Roberton: Had a fantastic start to the year - would have been in my starting 18 halfway through, probably. Dropped off, though. Possibly borderline due to the number of similar players vying for a position.
Seb Ross: Good year, no qualms.
Lance Franklin: Gun.
Josh P Kennedy: Not his best year IMO, but gun.
Josh J Kennedy: Had to be chosen.
Jeremy McGovern: Not in my 22, but making the squad is fair enough.
Elliot Yeo: As above. Think he's becoming a little overrated.
Marcus Bontempelli: Didn't rate his year hugely tbh.
OUT: Jake Lever, Adam Treloar, Joel Selwood, Jeff Garlett, Tom Jonas, Marcus Bontempelli
IN: Heath Grundy, Clayton Oliver, Mitch Duncan, Orazio Fantasia, Zac Williams, Trent Cotchin
So, I guess to answer your question: Treloar, Jonas, Garlett, Selwood, Lever, and to a lesser extent Bontempelli, Scully, Greene, Roberton. "Hea-scratchers" perhaps a bit far, but no Oliver and Duncan in particular are stiff.
Well, Adelaide are looking pretty bloody good.Right? Going to be tough to beat.
I have a 3-leg multi on Ade, Rich and Ess. Prayin for a $500 payout baby.
Unlikely.. but whatevs.
I really hope Essendon do well in the finals. Same with Port. These teams that haven't been in the finals for a bit.
I enjoyed GWS losing last night. I don't know why I dislike them but I just do.
tipping essendon against the swans??
Right? Going to be tough to beat.
Rooting for Richmond to get an absolute shellacking tonight.
#StraightSetsRichmond
Should have been at Kardinia Park. It's pretty rubbish isn't it, that Richmond cop the advantage despite finishing lower? I mean, if I were the AFL, I'd hold it at the MCG as well but yeah... bit dog, isn't it?
8)
Should have been at Kardinia Park.

Port vs. WCE - Wow! One of the better matches I've seen. Such a tense finish!
I feel a little bot sorry for Port supporters - such a tough way to end a season.
Port vs. WCE - Wow! One of the better matches I've seen. Such a tense finish!Honestly, it was the best game I've ever seen! What a way to finish the first week of finals!!
I feel a little bot sorry for Port supporters - such a tough way to end a season.
Well, this game is just very sad at the moment. So much for the WCE upset haha
Hope Richmond wins next week after the siren.+1000!!!
••• Been a really average final series so far. 5/6 games one sided with really just one entertaining game.Agree. Loved the Port v WC game. Rest were just flat.
Sydney and West Coast tips going well.I've gotten exactly 1 in every week of the finals 😭😭😭, I feel they've been a little all over the place
I am hopeful that the prelims are close... nothing beats a tug-o-war game.
I want to start a bit of a debate now, see what you guys think.
Basically if Adelaide and Richmond get through, do you think it's fair that the game will be played at the MCG even though Adelaide finished first on the ladder? Adelaide have been very poor at the MCG, nearly lost to my mighty pies lol.
Yes I know - every Grand Final has been played at the MCG for so many years. More $$$$$$$ for AFL if at MCG so that's always a big factor.
But now since the game has grown so much, and it's considered our ''national'' sport, wouldn't you rather see a more fair competition where it's not biased towards Victorian clubs? Whoever finishes higher gets a HOME game regardless.

Another blowout.
Hope it's a cracking game today. My tips have been good. Margins off though.
ADEL VS GEE (+Dangerfield)
RICH VS GWS/WCE
So excited. What's everyone tips?
I reckon GWS over WCE by 30 today (I want WCE to win).
Then ADEL over GEE by 15 points
RICH over GWS by 5
Then GF: Rich over Adel by 50 points OR Rich choke and lose ;) ;) ;)
Enjoy, Trav!
Howe about mark of the year though. Could not believe that Joey won that. Absolutely ripped offI don't understand why he couldn't at least give Howe some sort of credit when he went up and spoke? Like ''Howe's mark was amazing... he may be a bit unlucky'' or even ''I can't believe I won this award it should have gone to Howe'' ... like he 100% knew he didn't deserve it, the room went all silent when his name was called out.
Absolute flog.salty collingwood supporter :P
Sooooo I won FUCKING TICKETS this afternoon!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta say, The Killers are probably one of the best final acts this decade :) And even though I'm a pies fan, go Adelaide
Congrats, Trav.
I love trade/draft period.
NM better bloody use that #4 pick well. My god.
Do you want to trade it, or take it to the draft?
Take it to the draft. If we're going to rebuild, i'd rather we do it properly rather than bring in an established player.
Yeah, fair call. It's a shame North could lure neither Martin nor Kelly. I really think you need a couple of genuine gun midfielders but, otherwise, IMO your list isn't in too bad a shape. Your finishing position this year definitely doesn't reflect your talent, I reckon.
Sam Gibson delisted. Dunno about this decision...
HF, F, C, HB, B, R, I/C: Luke Davies-Uniacke, Rising Star and Brownlow Medalist 2018.
HF, F, C, HB, B, R, I/C: Luke Davies-Uniacke, Rising Star and Brownlow Medalist 2018.
And so it begins. 😂I originally had a 22 with every achievable award attributed to a North player. I'll make a legit one later - there's actually some tough decisions around the midfield/forward line (backline basically writes itself).
This isn't the football I know.
Anyone know where I can find the Premiership and LaLiga football thread?
Have you checked other threads on the sport board? If there isn't one, you're welcome to create one.

We have a thread for all kinds of soccer here. It's stickied on the sports board.
North Melbourne def GC margin 120 how’s that for legit tipping m8
#leadershipHahahahaha this legit cracked me up 😂
does anyone go for bulldogs on here
Why the fall from WCE?
Predictions?scuse my ignorance but is this afl?
1. GWS
2. Adelaide
3. Essendon
4. Richmond
5. Geelong
6. Sydney
7. Port Adelaide
8. Hawthorn
9. Western Bulldogs
10. St. Kilda
11. Collingwood
12. Brisbane
13. North Melbourne
14. Carlton
15. Fremantle
16. Gold Coast
17. West Coast
18. Melbourne
Premiers: GWS
Brownlow: Josh Kelly
Norm Smith: Stephen Coniglio
Rising Star: Alex Witherden
Obviously a bit tongue-in-cheek with Melbourne, but I've had too many instances of having my hopes and dreams crushed haha.
scuse my ignorance but is this afl?
Good effort by NM last week tbh. They'll destroy Carlton this week hopefully.Had our moments. Goldy was performing crap in the ruck and we had Tarrant out who single handedly carries the backline (Thompson is getting a bit old now.. will be retiring in the next few i reckon if not this year).
The fuck happened in Adelaide last night?
NM should be putting the hurt on Carlton at Blundstone tomorrow. Concerning if we don't.You know, I'm not even shocked when they lose anymore.
Cracker of a game that one :)
Tbh should've smashed them by 100+, we were a bit sloppy too but i'll take 86 8)
Thought this was a response to me for a second, was worried you'd lost the plot.
Did think of you when I saw that result come up. A bit of good news for you for once is great!!
Supporting Melbourne is a lifestyle.😢
I don't follow AFL but how did brisbane only score 17 points???
I don't follow AFL but how did brisbane only score 17 points???Queensland hopeless in a Victorian sport
Fuck Lindsay Thomas.
When I heard he was called to play, I just laughed.
I was waiting for the report.
He just can't help himself.
Really, really impressed by North at the moment. Enjoying this.Got wifi 15 mins ago. 11.30pm in hotel. Shook af at half-time scoreline. Keen to pump the radio in the second half.

Melbourne has had an absolute ride with the umpiring todayMeh, happens with most teams at some point. Umpiring is very inconsistent across the board.
Meh, happens with most teams at some point. Umpiring is very inconsistent across the board.
Exhibit A: NM v. Port game y'day.
Also: You guys did well 8)
Collingwood v Richmond was a cracker of a match, although umpiring was a bit shocking both ways. How Cotchin didn’t get done for pushing Treolar into the ground in front of the umpire being Exhibit A.I was at the game yesterday and was really pleased with how we went. I don't think the final score was a good representation of how competitive the game was. We just seemed to run out of legs in the last quarter. Had two on the bench + the four day break.
Still a lot of good signs for Collingwood. No forward depth, but their back line held up really well and their mid field is fucking elite. They forced us to win at our best today and only really lost it when they ran out of steam.
KANGAS playing like LEEGEENNDDSSSS.
Really happy for you Aaron!!
Hope my pies can follow the great turnaround north have been able to do!
Predictions for two cracking games tomorrow?
realistically i think the tigers are gonna demolish us but you know.. anything's possible. we've proven all the haters wrong already so anything else is a bonus
God I hope if we're gonna do that, that we do it in the first quarter rather than fucking around for three quarters and then blasting away. Can't handle the nerves for another week.

It must be tough being a Richmond supporter at the moment. ;)

Tips for this week everyone? :). Here are mine:
COLL VS WB at ES (Why the fuck is our home game at ES?) = COLL
RICH VS STK at MCG = RICH
BRI VS SYD at GABBA = BRI
GEEL VS CARL at GS = GEEL
GIANTS VS ESS at SO = GIANTS
HAWKS VS WCE at ES = WCE
MELB VS ADEL at TP = MELB
FREO VS NM at OS = FREO (Sorry Aaron, hope I'm wrong).
Are you part of our tipping comp????

FREO VS NM at OS = FREO (Sorry Aaron, hope I'm wrong).
Unfortunately I do not have a tipping account this year. Those were just random tips I've made for this week. I'll get up next season hopefully.
Freo have played really well at Optus so it wouldn't surprise me if they won. However..... I can't deny the fact that North has been playing quite well so far.North has been so good. They are probably the second most under-rated side after brisbane. not saying brisbane should be top 4 or top 8 but they are definitely the best 1-9 team in history and have been really close to winning in alot of their games. i think their win loss record isnt really reflective of their skill and i suspect some mean reversion should take place in the second half of the season with them moving up to being mid table. that said its still a bit unlikely they beat the swans today.
It also continued a winning streak against the Lions that dates back to 2009:)
Good effort by NM last week tbh. They'll destroy Carlton this week hopefully.Sydney: Good call
Thoughts so far everyone? I'm convinced the top 4 will include: GWS, Sydney, Geelong and... wait for it... MELBOURNE!
GWS: LOOOOOOOOOOOOoooOOLYeah... What has happened to GWS?
Yeah... What has happened to GWS?They just have a super depleted team with injuries and not much depth in their roster.
I guess they are semi-premiership team now...
Tips for Round 11 folks?
This is what i've currently got.
SYD V CARL = SYD BY 30
WB V MELB = MELB
HAW V PORT = HAW
GC v GEE = GEE
ESS v RICH = RICH (this tip makes me nervous after essendon's past 2 weeks)
WC v STK = WC
NM v BRI = NM
COLL v FRE = COLL
ADE v GWS = ADE (this was tough, deciding who is worse at the moment.... i am on the fence with this one)
SYD V CARL = SYD BY 30What a prediction :P
Josh J 6.1! holy cow he's killing it right now!!!
I think richmond will still win it but I definitely see dreamtime at the g being a big match. Especially since the tigers will have Houli out injured, dion prestia wont be back til after the bye and jack reiwoldt is still uncertain but probably playing, and the bombers will have hurley back. either way will be close.
but the big upset might be (and i might change my tip) could be the suns to beat geelong. the cats have been playing pretty poorly really plus been hit with a few injuries and I have to think that a large part of the gold coast being shithouse up until now was because of their absolutely ridiculous travel schedule.
lets take a look at their matches so far in order:
cairns (beat north)
etihad (beat carlton)
perth (lose to freo but close)
perth AGAIN(smashed by west coast fair enough)
gabba (beat brisbane still not a home game)
adelaide
BALLARAT
back to the gabba
CHINA
they have literally had the worst possible schedule for the first half of the year living their life in planes and hotels and not being able to have good recovery sessions and just solid training. now they have had a bye and are coming back into their first match in their home stadium all year with a lot of people coming back into the squad. Sam Day, Tom Lynch and Jack Martin coming back. I can really see gold coast doing it. Of course we dont know how good they will be yet when fully fit and rested with a full squad but we have barely seen the teams potential all year I think.
God hindsight’s a bitch 😂
I tipped Suns tbh. Thought the cats had looked pretty flat. Also agreed that Dreamtime would be a tight one. Really glad we finally found some form. Our effort in the second quarter was second to none, back to our best at that point.
An OK win against the Lions today.North are so good this season. they have an easy schedule up ahead too. could seriously finish top 4 on the ladder. so dangerous all over the field and so many guns on the team. hope they beat the cats next week
54 points seems like a lot but imo we could've done much better. Second half was average at best. Umpiring was absolutely atrocious as per usual.
Ahern absolutely superb on debut.... loved it.
Good to get the 4pts but overall wasn't the best game. Should've dominated by 100+ based on the first half.
Edit: AAARGH So close to 9/9 tips!! Bloody GWS.
Tips for Round 12:
PORT v RICH = RICH BY 20
GEEL v NM = NM
GWS v GC = GWS
STK v SYD = SYD
BL v ESS = BL
FRE v ADE = FRE (will depend on Fyfe's tribunal outcome tomorrow night, might change)
MELB v COLL = MELB (at the moment, tempted to tip against esp. with Lever out now)
Nat Fyfe's tribunal challenge has failed. RIP brownlow
I actually haven't seen the incident, but did you think it was worth a week, Aaron?
Yeah, Greenwood doesn't even have the ball and he still chose to lift the elbow. That's the way I saw it anyway.
It was a quick decision but the wrong one to make from him.
Has been a week ban given for a lot less.
and Simpkin got off a 2-match ban!! Thank god for frame by frame shots.
Does anyone else think this whole MRO (match review officer) thing is bullcrap? One person deciding the penalties for all players in the AFL. I know Michael Christian is a veteran in this space but surely there's another way?

Sinclair and Franklin ripping it up! :D
Good luck Joseph
Thanks man - would have given you the same had I seen this before the game.No worries man.
Obviously pretty disappointing for Melbourne, but like, we were just comprehensively outplayed. Not overly upset about it because I think Collingwood were stellar. Really nice spread in particular is what I noticed - and shut down Melbourne's running game, too.
De Goey was amazing, Stephenson very good, Cox impressive. A good day for Collingwood fans overall, you'd have to say.
Glad the FightMND stuff all went well. Good result outside of footy!
No worries man.
Yeah that was the best I've seen us play in a while. To be fair though I don't think that was anywhere near Melbourne's best. The midfield was really not there at any moment of the game. I think that's where the game was won for us, we absolutely destroyed the clearances.
I hope we can keep this up throughout the season. It's been really tough supporting Collingwood for the last six years, especially when Buckley took over. We're finally playing some exciting brand of footy (going into the corridor, putting immense defensive pressure to create turnovers, 3rd and 4th efforts, team performances instead of individual performances, etc).
I reckon Melb will bounce back and still finish top 4. I hope they do.
Wells investment $$ going stellarGlass. That's all I'm going to say.
Prediction: North Melbourne by 45 points.
I think Melbourne's going to get absolutely rolled on Friday.
#positivity
Thanks Dons for screwng up my tip!! :)
But yeah. Bloody good work!!
The voice box is getting a good workout tonight.Been shocking
One word: umpiring.
North Melbourne have made an aggressive $5 million offer for Collingwood midfielder Jordan De Goey.Source.
The starting offer is for $1 million a year for five years for the young out-of-contract Pies star.
Source.
@Aaron @Rod @Everybody
Thoughts?
Too much.
Bloody good player, though, and sounds as though you have the salary cap room. Would be a nice addition.
Sure... I don't deny that.
Personally wouldn't be surprised if Jarrad Waite retires at the end of the year.... chuck in Scott Thompson too (although I think he will go another year). We have a stockpile of guys sitting in the VFL at the moment just waiting for their chance, too.
So is the objection more like, team morale/culture-based?
Lions being pretty darn impressive lately! They have just knocked the Hawks off down in Tassie!
Very handy for both of our clubs!
I know!! Now we're in the 8 with +2%.. that'll probably go if we lose to the Swans tomorrow.Unfortunately, so do I...
I like our chances, though.
Good luck for tomorrow Aaron !
Ta. Feeling nervous? ;)Yup! We've got some players in the team (Cox, WHE, Stephenson) who are playing with niggles. Haven't been the same since Treloar went down either, we look much slower, his run was so important to us.
Young Moore is going to be on Ben Brown, in before he kicks a big bag.At least we'll win something this year. Colemannnnnnnnnnnnn
I thought he was quite enough against Sydney thanks!!
Should've done the job on Sydney last week but lacked the polish needed to finish them off. Hopefully they've fixed that for tomorrow's match.
I thought he was quite enough against Sydney thanks!!
You guys were extremely lucky last week. :)Yup!
Darcy Moore a late out.
Our next tallest defender is Scharenberg who is only 191cm. Mihocek will now need to drop back as well. Ben Brown has about 10cm on our tallest defenders playing today, GG.
Definitely a big out. Dunn is a big out as he can play much taller than he is. Will Howe be able to drop off and create a little less?Dunn was our best key defender, been the rock in our defence. He has been out for two weeks now. Inexperienced Moore was expected to fill his shoes but late out.
hopefully we can wake up...... soon...
^Think Dunn has had an underrated career in general. Was pretty upset for him when he went down considering he never saw any success at the Dees. Cruel game.Definitely! The boys from Melbourne (Dunn and Howe) pretty much make up our defence. Everyone else is quite young and we've made a defence around Dunn and Howe. So glad we got them!
North's wayward kicking has been costly.
Definitely! The boys from Melbourne (Dunn and Howe) pretty much make up our defence. Everyone else is quite young and we've made a defence around Dunn and Howe. So glad we got them!
Funny to think you basically gave us Kennedy for both.Harry and a draft pick as well?

But yeah we definitely profited from that haha xD.
In the complex deal:
- Adelaide received Seedsman and gave up pick No.32;
- Collingwood received Howe and pick No.68 and gave up Seedsman and Kennedy;
- Melbourne received Kennedy and picks No.29 and 50 and gave up Howe and Toumpas;
- Port Adelaide received Toumpas and pick No.32 and gave up picks No.29, 50 and 68
The 29-year-old has been swapped along with the Demons' pick 51 for Collingwood's pick 47.
The Clark-Varcoe-Lumumba deal, while separated from the Beams trade, was linked because Collingwood could not have traded Varcoe in without trading Beams out and would not have let Beams go unless Varcoe came in. And this required the release of Lumumba.
Sydney goal-less second qtr?
what the actual?

Club should fold.
I was sitting in the Melbourne cheer squad tonight...... great place to be 😶
Swans vs Dons...
Swans by 4 goals
Silly by Jones.
tfw North still loses tomorrow with Kennedy and Shuey out.
Can forget finals if we drop this one.
Most frustrating match I've watchedWhy’s that?
Why’s that?
I’m listening on radio at the moment. It’s exciting audio only, anyway! 😂
Sounds like Ahern is having a fucking huge game.
Seems like they've made them pay now. 40 pt win. Very happy against a fantastic side.
Handy for us too ;)
I wonder where you'd be if you played a bit more outside the G ;)
Reckon there's gonna be a few more shifts before the end of the H&A. Injuries to both WC and Coll makes things interesting. Sydney imo look cooked, GWS are starting to dominate, there's a bunch of teams sitting just outside of the 8 with everybody in the top 8 in danger.
^Huge call to say Cripps will never win a flag at Carlton. Things can change quickly.
I'd like to be proven wrong, I really would, but I really don't think anything is happening there anytime soon.
What about the REBUILD?!?
The "rebuild" that's been happening since Malthouse was coach? Or the "rebuild" when Bolton was appointed?
Which one are you referring to?
You really have to ask yourself why they aren't moving anywhere significant.... I mean, Brisbane would be what you call a rebuild in progress..evidence that they are on the up. Is it Carlton's coaching? Recruitment of players? I dunno.. can't say since I don't study them in depth.. but something isn't working there.
What a nail-biter!!Was begging for the siren when pies were 4 up 😥 But agree, how the Coleman pans out should be interesting
Absolutely loving Buddy's 6.4! GOAT!!!
Watch your back Ben Brown!! :D
another 10 goals in round 22 coming up!
Was begging for the siren when pies were 4 up 😥 But agree, how the Coleman pans out should be interestinghaha. Thank goodness we got it. It may just keep us in touch with the 8...
Watch your back Ben Brown!! :DBit hard to kick goals when you get double/triple teamed and held, and the umps allow it to happen week in week out. If defenders were penalised like they should, Ben Brown would be 20+ goals infront of Hawkins and co.
Just did a ladder predictor. Had Collingwood 5th, North 8th, Melbourne 10th.
But yeah, it's all so insanely close.
Crossing my fingers that the Suns don't do to you what they did to the Swans a few weeks ago. They are a joke of a team and will be vulnerable with the added distraction of Lynch leaving. Every game must be a win for 5-8 and 9-10. Even percentage matters.
From my perspective if NM drop a game from now until end, they can forget finals. Each of our remaining 3 games are winnable and we don't deserve to play it if we don't win at least two (Bulldogs and St Kilda).
It's historically the sort of game we'd drop.I was lowkey hoping you'd lose, cause our percentage sucks Rn... :(
I think we'll win, but I'm not confident.
So many injuries ... Daniel Wells has cursed us lol. You're welcome :) Hope he's worth every cent you guys paid for him.
Buddy very proud 7 goals against our VFL defence #spudEhehehehe, sour grapes

Jack Riewoldt has78 - Coleman leader? :)
Jumping the gun. Only 3 matches have been played so far this week.I know. Early days...
P.S - Who wouldn't kick 10 against Gold Coast. They're actually terrible lol.. nearly on par with Carlton
I am very relieved Waite and Higgins are back this week. Means they will ease off Brown and allow him to kick goals again :)
I find it fascinating how people tip. Glad I picked the hawks this week.... Geelong are in trouble.Spoiler(https://screenshotscdn.firefoxusercontent.com/images/8e9f5f5d-65fd-46dc-9b5d-46eb0ed360ad.png)

May have not tipped since round 2 ...Gathered - system auto tips for you..... with some unfavourable tips given
If anything.. we should get into finals... our draw is literally 1 of the easiest. If we can't win Dogs + Saints at least then we don't even deserve it tbh. Geelong losing is a good starting point. Just need the Swans to follow suit and a miracle Brisbane win.I actually wouldn't be surprised if we lose this round.. Dee's will be hard... :-\
I actually wouldn't be surprised if we lose this round.. Dee's will be hard... :-\
well let's be honest Swannies have had a big form slump lately. I think they won't make the 8 personally.I'd say we thrive under pressure, but the reality is that we lost to Gold Coast. Doesn't really support any arguments... :-\ :-\
Dees, Giants and Hawks. Three tough matches.
Yeah, i'm done.:D
:D
And the Swannies pulled through! Sorry J41 - Very fine last Qtr!
very lucky. They nearly had you. Don't get too cocky, still very congested in that lower 8 bracket.I wasn't! :o
I wasn't! :o
But yeah, I know what ya mean... It's still a pretty low chance that we stay in the 8 throughout the next 2 rounds...
Ho hum.:D
:D
need to choose a better emoji mate.
I think the Demons can rest easy knowing their big wins throughout the season holds them in good stead (% wise) if it comes down to it.
need to choose a better emoji mate.I don't know the euphoria emoji.. :)

I don't think it will. West Coast and GWS to come. Think we'll miss with a great percentage.
Hogan done.
Interesting.
I'm nervous.
Doing alright so far. Least you're still in contention for finals. We have to win both games to even be *considered* for them....... but alas it is their own doing, inconsistent
Gee, what a day for the WCE to cark it on their home deck. Just isn't meant to be, lol.
Well done Nick
Thanks mate.
Melb v Geelong at MCG.It won’t be at ANZ for GWS Sydney?
I reckon the Dees have it in them. Just a question of whether they'll get nervous and crumble.
Hope Sydney gets knocked out by GWS. Sydney have had a pretty shocking record at the SCG and given that's where their final will be played... if I was a Swannies supporter i'd be pretty nervous.
WCE will defeat the Pies at Optus and I reckon the Hawks will roll the Tigers.
It won’t be at ANZ for GWS Sydney?
Melbourne were genuinely fucking brilliant yesterday. GWS didn't have a great game to be sure, but Melbourne were way too slick with their ball movement and too strong in the contest. So glad I ended up going along to that one!
Fingers crossed I can nab tickets for Richmond Hawthorn and hopefully Melb Geelong too!!
Honestly I think it's the best I've ever seen a Melbourne team play.
Hopefully Geelong keep up their good form too
@Aaron @brenden

Obviously a bit tongue-in-cheek with Melbourne, but I've had too many instances of having my hopes and dreams crushed haha.
Lol...
Just looking back to the start of the year.. ;)At least you nailed #6.. ;)A morose J41
Lol...hmmm... I wish!!! If only the foresight extended to injuries :'( :'( GWS all the way! hafta love that Josh Kelly touch... why not??

He will look even better in blue and white in 2020.
Dusty looks good in blue and white.....oh, wait :p
I admire the loyalty. Hard to come by these days.
Today feels unusual.
Good luck Nick! I'll be cheering for the Dees.
Thanks Aaron!
Think I read somewhere that Geelong, Sydney and Hawthorn have collectively played 75+ finals since Melbourne's last. Haven't verified, but that's crazy if true.
Did you manage to get tix?
Edit: Geelong look really slow + Dees taking full advantage. Love it
Congrats Nick!I think a lot of it was Melbourne's doing... but Melbourne certainly not doing themselves any favours in the middle quarters.
Cats were absolutely shocking tonight. Worst i've seen them play in a long time. You guys will need to clean up the shots on goal for next week to win the semi.
Hypothetically, was this Sydney's worst game all season??? :'( :'(

How do you feel about this?
How do you feel about this?
Obvs not directed at me but I definitely wouldn't be saying no if I were North.Happy enough, don't really care about the funds. It's front loaded, and honestly we must be flirting with the salary cap minimum, or at least knowing we'll have big funds year on year as we frontload contracts. Pretty smart.
How bloody good is footy?
Great game by the Dees, never looked in doubt really. Could it be another fairy tale this year?
It's starting to get that feel about it, which is scary.
Does anyone here know where I can get a jersey numbered and named?I'm not sure about naming but I'd imagine Rebel sport (or most sport stores for that matter) and the club stores probably do numbering
Does anyone here know where I can get a jersey numbered and named?
I reckon the Tigerland Superstore could hook you up :pHahaha I'd rather be naked in public than wear richmond apparel ;p
