I hope this thread doesn't overlap too much with others that already exist.

I've made it so you can vote for up to 5 options in the poll, so if you do all of these things, please vote for your most common activities!

Do you think you do the same things every commute or does it change depending on how you feel?

It'll be interesting to see which are the most common!!
Spoiler
I'm predicting possibly music + social media + look out window + think about stuff(?)

Also does your choice of activity change depending on the type of transport?

Please suggest any options that aren't on here that I've missed!

It normally takes me around 1hr 30min to get to uni. I think what I do normally depends on my mood. If I'm super tired after night classes I'll sometimes sleep on the train, or stressed about assessments I'll do work/readings. Most of the time I'll listen to music. If I'm on the tram/bus it's a lot shorter and if it's busy I'm sometimes standing, so I'll just listen to music/look out the window/scroll through social media.

I rarely use public transport as i'm kind of regional, but I may do some form of knitting/crochet if it's a small project. But most of the time it's just staring out the window

A combination of listening to music, looking out the window and thinking about stuff

If it's on the bus to or from school I generally open my Pokemon Go ;)
Otherwise on longer trips such as on trains, either listening to music or having some quick shuteye

On buses or crowded Metro trains, I'm usually just listening to music or thinking about how crowded the bus/train is. If I'm on a V/Line or a decent Metro train, I usually try to study with lectures or even work on assignments — it frees up my time a bit for when I'm home and I can do other things that I couldn't do on PTV. It's about 2h towards uni, the majority of which is on V/Line, so I can typically get a nice satisfying bite in.

If I'm not going to or from uni, I'll typically read a book — I'm making a conscious effort to get back into reading, so this is new. Beforehand it was always just listening to my current music obsession on repeat (currently Candlemass tyvm) and looking at the window imagining myself in increasingly implausible scenarios.

I try to avoid sleeping as I have a proclivity for missing my stops haha.

I'm guaranteed to be listening to music on public transport.

Depending on how fried I am and the time of the day, I'm either thinking about things and looking out the window (and determinedly not making eye contact with other passengers) or sleeping. :)

I mainly learn uni content/take notes - I'm fairly time-pressured and can't really afford to "waste" that period of time.  I do typically get motion-sick on the way home, so I only listen to lectures without taking notes on the way back.

If it's a very short trip, and I don't feel it's "worth it" getting out my laptop, I'm more likely to scroll social media or do nothing.
