I feel like i tried to do so much prep in the last few days that i was.just too overwhelmed today (take note yr 11s)   Funny, because section 3 was probs the only  section that i consistently worked from  the beginning of the beginning of the year, but those were the qns i went blank on today:(
But i liked the section 1 qns, they were pretty dope

Guess we.have to wait and see!

Yeah the s3 questions were so different. Mapping and 3-2 rule barely even worked and it was all up to like guessing the pattern so I guessed a lot of section 3. Missing segment ones were really hard too but the hardest was pick the middle.

I guess they're trying to make it a test you can't study for

Is there the 50/50/50 rule for Monash? I got 89th percentile, which as far as I'm aware is good enough to get an interview (provided I get a decent ATAR), but I got 40 in Section 3. Is there still hope? Are there any interstate universities offering undergrad med that definitely don't have the 50/50/50 rule?

Every section is a scaled mark out of 100.

I'm pretty sure there's no 50/50/50 rule in place for Monash. Only places I know of that have it for sure are JMP and Curtin. If you get a decent ATAR you should be eligible for an interview at most other places.

Hi Quantum444. According to the Monash website, unfortunately "All applicants must have undertaken the UMAT and have achieved a minimum of 50 for each of the three sections." Your UMAT score is really good though, and I believe most other universities don't have this 50/50/50 rule.

Ah that sucks, thanks for the info though. Do you know exactly which interstate unis don't have the 50/50/50 rule. I was considering applying for Adelaide uni, but I haven't been able to find anything about it on their website.

i believe university of western sydney and the joint medical program of University of newcastle do because I got 93rd percentile but failed one section and they emailed me saying my umat wasn't good enough (UWS was definitely because of failing 1 section but UN didn't specify)

Yeah I only ended up applying for Adelaide since I heard that JMP definitely has 50/50/50 rule. I'm not sure about UWS though.

To confirm, UWS doesn't have the 50/50/50 rule (because someone got into UWS last year with a Section 1 score in the 40s - but Section 2 score in the 80s). But they have a cutoff for Section 1 + Section 2. For this year, it seems that the non-rural cutoff for S1+S2 was 129, and for rural 120.

From my personal experience in prepping UMAT, I believe that most of the good marks come from actually revisiting some of the selective trials papers done in the past to be frankly honest. Considering that Section 3 has a lot in common with GA, perhaps some tutoring locations might work well for you guys. Other than that, perhaps be skeptical about life. It gives you more perspective to approach stuff from different angles.

Sorry i’m slightly late, but did everyone find this to be true?
Some companies put a great emphasis on mapping, 3/2 rule and even odd rule. If ACER is moving away from questions that we can use such techniques on, what type of questions are they giving us?
I assumed most of section 3 was simple things such as moving objects, replacement of objects, transformations etc.
