Hi There,
I know AtarNotes offer the free lectures for the 3 core topics in Phys + Chem (idk about Bio).
Why do they not offer lectures for the option topics?
Thanks
Hey Dermite!
It is basically for logistical reasons. We do have a team which could lecture the options for the sciences (at least some of them), but a few reasons we don't:
- Ultimately our goal is to help as many people as possible. Option lectures, by nature, only help a subset of students. Core lectures can be helpful to everyone who attends.
- We want to be fair. Once we lecture one option, we'd feel bad unless we lectured most if not all of them.
- Even for subjects with super popular options (EG - Q2Q in Physics), our lectures are run with sponsor support and so we only have a finite amount of space and time. Doing option lectures would mean taking a lecture away for another subject - As above, we want to be helpful to everyone, so we have gone down the road of only lecturing the core for the subjects we offer (which btw does include Biology!). It's an opportunity cost thing, to use the economical term.
I'm not saying we'll never run lectures for Options - We'd certainly love to, and if the circumstances arise such that we can make it happen, you bet we will. Logistically though, it just isn't possible right now - Want to be as honest as possible. Running totally free lectures involves juggling lots of juggling balls, and option lectures is probably one too many, at this stage
