Questions regarding AN Headstart Lectures

Hi AN, I have some quick questions regarding the ATAR Notes headstart lectures held in January - what will be covered during the 3 hours? Will the lecturers be going through actual content, or things like tips / tricks / advice? Will there be practice questions - and if yes, are they mainly original questions or past VCAA ones?

Final question - will there be UCAT lectures this year?

Thank you! :)

P.S. I’m specifically referring to lectures for 3/4 bio, chem, further, and methods.

VCE: Literature [50] Methods [50] Further [48] Chemistry [40] Biology [33]
2022: Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Economics) @ ANU

Hey,

I’m not part of the lecturing team, but from my experiences attending them:
- they tend to give an overview of the concepts/content in the upcoming unit
— as part of this they tend to go through a few questions
- the lecturers usually also go through important tips & tricks

I know this doesn’t answer all of your questions, but I hope it helps :)

Hey!

I've been involved in the lectures quite a bit, so hopefully I can add on a bit to what miniturtle has already said.

Basically what's included is really at the lecturer's discretion, and depends on the subject, however I know that we all try to make them as engaging as possible with kahoots, memes etc. From my experience, when possible I like to have a good mixture of content, practice questions and tips/tricks, so I think it's fair to say you can expect all those aspects. Whether practice questions are original or VCAA based will also depend on the lecturer, but for the head start lectures you might see less practice questions than usual because all the content is new, unlike in a revision lecture where we can give you questions to help test what you've already learnt.

As far as UCAT lectures, I've heard that one might be planned but don't take my word for it until it's officially announced :)

Hope that helps clarify things a bit, sing out if there's anything else you wanna know!
