JUNE 2021 MOTM

The shortest day of the year has come and gone. The end of term 2 is already here and we are pretty much halfway through the year! Hopefully everyone is enjoying their winter holidays so far.

THE JUNE MEMBER OF THE MONTH IS
Congratulations to...

Billuminati has been a forum member since 2019 where they began contributing to the University side of AN, and created their uni journey journal. This month in particular they have been a great help on the VCE biology and chemistry boards where they have been providing clear and insightful answers to people needing help. Joining AN after finishing high school yet still coming back to help others currently in VCE with posts such as this, this and this is really appreciated!

Thank you Billuminate for your time spent helping others on AN!

THE JUNE POSTS OF THE MONTH ARE:

2018: Biology
2019: Chemistry, Physics, Math Methods, English, Japanese
2020: Bachelor of Psychology (Monash)

Congratulations Billuminati and to all of our POTM posters!!

It's been fantastic to see your consistent advice and guidance. Also nice to see the extra commentary (like Rosalind Franklin support) :D
Yes it's C. Although you know the structure of DNA from their model (which they stole/plagiarised from a lady), it doesn't tell you how gene expression is regulated by transcription factors and chromatin remodelling proteins.

OMG thank you guys so much, I guess senpai noticed me. I’m helping around on ATAR Notes because the VCE server I have been moderating doesn’t receive that many questions anymore and I want as much teaching experience as possible since I’m considering becoming a teacher if medicine doesn’t work out. Back when I was in year 12 I benefitted a lot from the discussions here on ATAR Notes, however I was greedy/selfish and didn’t register an account to contribute as I didn’t wish to help my competition in med admission (not my proudest moment at all). In uni, despite the insanely toxic biomed competition, I found that teaching other people concepts you covered ie answering other people’s questions on the unit forums is the most efficient way of learning (it also makes you a better, more empathetic person), I felt it was about time I give back to the community here on ATAR Notes as well.

PS I haven’t forgotten about my subject reviews, I’m still typing them up and will post them on the Monash unit review megathread ASAP. It’s just that I’m trying to make them as detailed as possible (without breaking collusion rules) so that future students can refer to them as a comprehensive survival manual when they take the same classes I did.

Yeah I find it really unfair that the structure of the arguably most important molecule in molecular biology is named after 2 credit thieves, especially when people tried to steal my credit in biomed group projects.
