It's super cool that you are continuing to play piano and do an exam in year 12, all the best for it!
Also, love your subjects (I did exactly the same in year 12), do you have a favourite (I'm guessing perhaps methods or chemistry given that you've already finished the homework for these subjects?) And what course did you want to do next year?
Term 1 Week 1 (Wednesdayyy)
Mini update :)
covid is going around my school so bad rn, it's pretty scary. I have an english sac on monday, but a girl in my class who I was sitting next to tested positive yesterday night. I'm doing a RAT in the morning, and I'm just praying I don't have it before my sac. Fingers crossed! I asked my teacher what happens if we have to miss the sac because of covid, and she said they weren't 100% sure yet. I'm finding the creative sac pretty hard, I'm trying to get a 30/30 (lol at least I can dream right?) and there's so many different aspects that I have to get perfect, especially controlling my descriptions. I'll keep you guys posted on how I do :)
Another chem rant ;D
So my chem teacher got back to me about the question which was good, and she said I was right... it was a dud question.
Which left me wondering, why not tell the rest of the class? Because there'd be people in there thinking 'why can't I do this question?' and someone could get upset :(
She also tried to tell us that VCAA requires that we write CO2 as a liquid for our states on equations (WRONG). We were all so confused, and at the end of the lesson she realised that she meant H2O (so VCAA Chem you must write H2O as a liquid in equations).
Anyway I feel like I've been pretty negative these last couple of days. I've just been stressed, and piano takes out so much of my study time as well. At least that one is over in May (before my methods sac).
As always cheers for reading fam :)

Um I was taught differently, VCAA wants H2O produced in combustion as (g) cuz the heat produced should vapourise it.
Edit: VCAA chem 2019 Q4 extended response gives you a thermochemical equation with H2O in gas state
so VCAA Chem you must write H2O as a liquid in equations
Hmmm. My teacher told me that VCAA wants as liquid because some can form condensation. Is there any way I can verify this ? (I'm not sure I'll be taking my questions to her anymore)
She said sometimes (g) could come up in exam qns but that in answers you should write (l)
Everyone disregard my previous statement below until I get to the bottom of this:
Will probs ask chem thread
Thanks so much Billuminati for bringing that to my attention!!
You don't see the flame from a BBQ gas tank (mostly propane) leaking liquid water when burning, so the condensation must happen after cooling in the air, which means the immediate state for H2O should be (g). However, I was taught by my teacher that if the question actually explicitly states "standard conditions" or "SLC" in the text, VCAA thinks it should be liquid, and she's a VCAA assessor
good job getting your english done! definitely feel you with the booster shot too - i had mine yesterday and wanted to sleep in all my classes.
and yes omg the maths guy for edrolo uses some interesting analogies... the methods video for composite functions was definitely something haha.
hopefully chem works out for you!
Just curious, what are you doing in Chemistry right now?
Also, good luck with your composition performance! You'll do well!

Atm in chem we are doing fuels and thermochem, redox etc as part of AoS1
Redox is just straight up one of my most favourite things about chemistry atm.
Its just so coool and it makes sense.
Yes! I agree! It's so logical, once you understand it! Like it's just genius! ;D
I actually get quite bad anxiety about the whole VCE journal thing, but I’m determined to continue. Just won’t include super specific stuff that could identify me I suppose. Anyone else like that?
I'm exactly the same! I write a lot of stuff I that end up deleting because I'm worried that people from my school would connect the dots and realise it's me. There's sooo many stories that I would love to tell. I continue post anyways because it is really fun and it makes for great memories to look back on once we're older and not concerned with school or uni. It's still quite sad that we feel like we have to keep this anonymous.

I’m just really slow to process stuff and need lots of practice time (which is hard to come by these days would you believe), is anyone else like that?
On another note, I've been thinking lately that I'm expecting way too much of myself. I did so good on last year's exams, but I know that doesn't directly translate into year 12 scores, hence why I'm scared about this english mark, and I wanted to ask people's opinions of how much your year 11 scores are a reflection of your capabilities for year 12?
I think I’m a bit like this too, although it may just be that I’m not satisfied until I completely understand things.
Personally, my year 12 marks were similar to and sometimes better than my year 11 marks. This can vary based on a lot of factors though, and the important thing in year 12 is ranking rather than percentages. I know it’s hard not to focus on grades, but as long as you try your best and work hard, it should translate into good final results.

I've moved ahead of my class on content per the advice of my teacher and started looking at redox because as I mentioned before I am just bad at it, and I will need a lot of practice with it.Yo, with redox, try out the Tyler Dewitt videos on YouTube. He explains that jazz like he breathes it. If you want links, feel free to ask!

The formative assessments were trial and error. But, I figured out where I went wrong (cough cough studying techniques cough cough), and I did much better in my IA1's. If you did well in year 11, you're more likely to do well in year 12 (is what I think), because you would've nailed the techniques and skills you need; just this time, applying it to different theory.

yes that's literally me too... i'm so paranoid people from my school are gonna know it's me posting and discuss it behind my back :'(
Thought this was just me too. When I write my journal, I go that's too personal and delete some stuff. I really hope no one knows who I actually am.
Don't feel like I really know what I'm supposed to be doing rip.don't worry, i feel the same :-[ spesh can be the bane of my existence at times. from what I've heard, everyone says the best thing to do is practise as often as possible/looking for patterns in the questions that vcaa asks. idk if that makes sense. for me personally i also find it helpful to just read (and sometimes annotate) the textbook content before it is covered in class so i have some idea of what's going on before my teacher explains it. idk if that's helpful
Hope you guys are doing ok! What do other people do to relax? Feel like I need some ideas now ;D ;Dfor me i find playing my instrument (guitar) helps me to stop thinking about school for once in my life lol :P also having a routine before bed is really good for relaxation too. e.g. a bit screen free time before sleeping to help switch off, having a hot drink, reading for a bit... those are some things that work for me anyways!
I did the Oral SAC last Thursday and imo it went well. Probably not 20/20 but I'm hoping for a 19. There is no grey area in my french cohort, there's either everyone clustered up the top or the bottom. No middle. Rip bell curve :o^^ Guess I was about right
I now have a strong urge to make coffee muffins. There was a time in my life where I put so much instant coffee into a batch of muffins that there was about 2 shots of coffee equivalent per muffin. They were strong but they were SO GOOD.
OMG.
Wait....there is such things as coffee muffins?? That sounds so coooool!! Please teach me your ways, friend.

bruh I'm not kidding coffee muffins
Literally just wack instant coffee in the recipe. I usually put tonnes in so I have 2 shots per muffin.
It's good for when I get lazy and can't be bothered making a coffee in the morning, coz I can just grab a couple of muffins and be 8) 8) 8)
Makes a good recess too if you need some caffeine ;D

this has inspired me to have a bake off on the weekend... coffee muffins sound like the epitome of sustenance for a year 12 student ;D
