Title: Major Work progress? Comment how you're faring!
Post by: ggreentree on February 05, 2019, 09:45:20 pm
SO!!! Term one and the summer holidays have passed. What sort of progress have you guys made on your major works? Drafting, writing, research, etc etc. It's so hard to know where you're supposed to be at this point in the year... I'm steadily growing my hoard of resources (so many articles and books on form lol) and I've written a sizeable chunk of prose that I'm going to put through rounds and rounds of editing.  My characters, setting, and plot are taking shape at this point. What about y'all? I'm super curious if anyone's doing creative non-fiction - earlier on I was really considering choosing it because it's a v interesting form to read.

There is really no way to know if you're 'on time' with your major work to be honest. As long as you're meeting your own deadlines in your action plan, then you should be ok. I have only written one page of my major work but I've done extensive research into my topic and form and I've journaled a whole load. For me, I plan to finish my first draft by this term because the form of my major work is extremely hard to work with. You sound like you're way ahead compared to most of the people I've talked to!

Good Luck!

Haven't done a lot of research, considering it's very difficult to find past examples of scripts written for Ext. 2! I've changed my idea more times than I can count (and even reverted back to doing a short story) and have my Viva Voce very very soon. I don't necessarily know how I'm going to construct this Viva, considering I don't even really have a solid idea at the moment or enough of my major work to reference... I hope everyone else's majors are going well! :D

Hey terushi!

Just thought I'd help out for the scripts, while there aren't many for ext2, have you checked out http://www.australianshortfilms.com/scripts.html for some Australian-based short film scripts?

Also, I definitely relate to the changing of ideas and form! I went from film to story to film and ended at story. Good Luck for your viva! I would definitely address how you were unsure of what to do, but try to have a solid concept by the viva!
