Dear Respondent,

Hey, I am a Year 12 student currently enrolled at Dubbo School of Distance Education. I am studying Society and Culture, which requires me to complete a Personal Interest Project (PIP) for my HSC. The project must link to the syllabus content.

The hypothesis of this project is “There is a lack of awareness around homophobia and transphobia around the queer community in central West NSW”.

To follow the research process I need to Interview and survey a sample group from the community. This will allow me to gather qualitative and quantitative data that will enable me to present my findings and discuss and analyse the outcomes of this research project. I request only people from NSW complete this survey. This survey is voluntary, by completing this survey, formal consent will be given to use your anonymous answers in my PIP.
This survey will be emailed in a google doc form with a link, and I would be grateful for your participation in my research. I will adhere to the following guidelines:

I will ensure that all participants will know that their names and personal information will not be published nor recorded
I will ensure that all documentation relating to people's information will be destroyed after the research has been completed.
I will clearly state my name and my purpose for this research
I will ensure that my sample groups are varied and diverse and do not represent a specific group that could possibly show bias to the hypothesis question.
I will respect participants' personal views of this topic as some people may find this topic somewhat sensitive.
I will honestly discuss and analyse the findings from my research.
Ask for permission before conducting any research involving any individual or their property.
Record data that supports both the hypothesis and its contrary or otherwise, should it be found
My intention is to uphold my integrity by ensuring all information within the final results and findings can be supported by research and are therefore not suspected to be falsified information on the researcher’s behalf.
Ensure all participation is voluntary and consent is informed, also ensuring that all possible risks are known and are taken with the individuals’ knowledge
Plan questions that are worded carefully so that they are not too personal and do not cause distress or offend.
I will provide a copy of my completed IRP for those participants that request it.
