Gender Roles in 1984 and Metropolis

Hi!!
So i'm worried that if we're asked a question on gender roles that i won't be able to answer it. How would you approach a question like this:
To what extent has your comparative study of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis and George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty Four provided an intertextual study of perspectives on gender?

I feel like everything i have prepared won't work for this. With Metropolis, if i were to speak of gender roles i know i could talk about Machine Maria and all that. But, does that mean my whole discussion on the dehumanisation of the workers is no longer needed? And with 1984, i feel like my essay will only be a page long.

What are the chances of being asked a question like that? (i hope slim)  :(
