What would be a controlled variable if I measured how light intensity would affect the rate of photosynthesis?

Hi there!
When tackling these questions, I like to map out all the variables:

Independent: Light Intensity
Dependent: Rate of photosynthesis (bubbles?)

That way - anything that's not these should be controlled.

Eg:
-  Temperature, Glucose concentration, number of chloroplasts (algae balls??), time, measuring equipment, carbon-dioxide concentration, etc...

Hope this helps!

Hi,
Sorry I just realised I phrased my question wrong, in the same experiment what would be a good control group, do you need both positive and negative control groups.
I don't know if no light exposure or 0cm against a light source (closest the light can get to the beaker)?
Which one would be a better control group?
