Just coming back to this. Been listening to it a bit recently, and it chokes me up every time - almost to the point that I don't enjoy listening to it haha.

I can't listen to 'Forget Her' by Jeff Buckley without feeling some bittersweet pang. I don't relate to the situation in the song (being cheated on), but it's still certainly not the kinda song you want to listen to after a breakup. I still enjoy it though, fuck the police

This song means so much to me :3. It talks about how when there's so much darkness in the world, that there's still a bit of light to guide you <3. This is one of my go to songs when I'm kinda down.
P.S. the crescendo in the middle is actually so powerful, the whole song is like a journey.

the cresendo is definitely such an iconic part of this song

Really gets to me! Were any lyrics in particular poignant for you?
I do suppose that the last verse is my favorite, but I do really appreciate the whole song. I do think though that most of the emotional effect (at least on me) comes from the way its played/sung.
What about you?
Listening to it again, the lines "Do you care? Do you care? Are you there?" in the second verse do stick out as well, especially with the way the music softens.

After All These Years - Silverchair Such a beautiful song which is kind of happy but also quite emotional (I don't know if it's just me, but it's a really nice song anyway)

another song i love is this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDCgNHsglg4 this is one of ella mais most amazing songs its such a nice slow yet calming song....it has such a sweet and simple piano melody and its lyrics are very emotionally relatable, that i get carried away every time i hear it. sure do have a listen of it.

A few off the top of my head; "Don't You" from Simple Minds stands out, especially for any Breakfast Club fans out there ;) albeit not a personal favourite, I reckon Chris Isaak's original "Wicked Game" is one of the more emotional songs I've heard too.

Lost Boy by Ruth B (if that's the one you're referring to!) is one of my emotional songs too - I like to sing it to myself sometimes.

Watched Les Miserables for the first time last night, though I know the songs well. The songs are even sadder in context than in isolation. To my mind, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables is the pick of the bunch:

Not a song per se, but Nimrod, one of the Enigma variations, does that to me. Also the Lord's Prayer, especially Amira's 2020 version. Die Onse Vader, one specific version, sung by Amira and six others at either Classics or Afrikaans is Groot, possibly 2017. As of just the other day, 'I'll Walk With God', sung by Amira and an excellent tenor. Happy tears, though.
Kind of seconding. For the lyrics, not the melody - I tried to listen and got bored. But, not that I've watched the film, it's pretty amazing in the context of a credits song for that book! Yes, this is the only way I've heard of this singer - through Narnia!
