What's the difference between linux and PC? I'm just curious because someone said I need to change my operating system and I've never had any trouble with Dell before...

a simple alt  F4 should do the trick.
uninstall life.exe afterwards and restart your computer

I would LOVE to know what the hell VCAA were thinking when they wrote this question. Keeping in mind that they write the exam early in the year and probably review it 100 times.

You mean 100 using the binary system? 4 times sounds about right for VCAA.
