methods in year 10?

hey guys, I kinda wanted the opinion of the people on here.
At my school, we can have up to two VCE subjects accelerated in year 10 (however, I am only considering doing one); I am thinking of taking up methods 1/2. I am in year nine at the moment, but I am in an accelerated math class which covers most of year 10 maths with a few exceptions (for example, my class did not learn logarithms).
In addition, I will most likely have to take year 10 advanced maths along with methods (it's basically the year 10 course, but a bit harder and more content).

Would you recommend that I go into methods in year 10? All my test scores have been >80% if that helps; and I am planning to work harder this year (as in, answer all chapter questions) to sustain a strong foundation.

Thank you in advance  :)

It's a bit early to be thinking of VCE subjects, but if you're planning to complete methods 3&4 in Year 11, then most schools will require you to accelerate in Year 10. imo, 1&2 in Year 10 is very achievable (and I would definitely recommend), but of course, don't expect to grasp concepts instantly.

I don't think doing methods in year 11 or 12 is too much of a concern tbh Plenty of people do well in both years.

One consideration would be what other subjects you plan on doing as well too as some subjects are more ideal to do in year 11.

I do agree it is a bit early; our subject selection takes place at the end of July but I always like to look towards the future

I haven't really thought of what else I want to do, but I may continue to do VCE Japanese SL 1/2 in year 11.

I strongly recommend it!!! I did that and I think it was the best decision for my VCE!

I think it is definitely a good idea if you are willing to work hard and stay consistent throughout the year. If you want to, definitely aim to keep your test scores to what you have now (80+ is a good range) as I know some schools (including mine) will not let everyone methods 1/2.

However, if you think you are capable of doing it, I definitely recommend and I am very glad that I am completing it this year. Methods takes a lot of time and effort and can be quite stressful but I think completing it in year 11 is a great decision if you are capable :)

Hi there!
I completed Methods in year 11 and am so glad I did because it's just good to get it out of the way so you can focus on your other subjects in year 12. I found that Methods was really time-consuming so I'd imagine it would be very difficult to balance with other year 12 subjects and at least in year 11, you'll have the flexibility of spending more time on Methods than your 1/2 subjects. If you do choose to do Methods early, my advice to you is to treat it seriously and get really familiar with the VCE system early on, such as by looking at the study design and the weighting of your SACs, because it helps you gain an understanding of what you need to do to achieve your desired study score.
Best of luck on your decision!

Hopefully not too late of a reply??

Anyway, I am currently doing methods 1/2 in year 10 and I did year 9 advanced mathematics. At first, it is a little bit of a jump from year 9 but it is extremely worth it. If you are capable at maths I would strongly recommend!

Best of luck!  :)

Totally do it.
It's Yr10.
You need to at least have a subject such as Methods if you don't study, you won't know how to do it.

You need to also even go on Youtube and search up Year 12 exams done by teachers/past high scorers.
