CSL eligibility in year 11?

Hi,

I am in year 10 and I am planning to take CSL units 1/2 for year 11. I don't know whether I am eligible - I heard that I can only take the eligibility form in term 3/4 of year 11. The thing is - my teacher and I are not sure which one I qualify for - CSL or CSLA and I can only know if I officially know in year 11 when I submit the form. If I am not eligible for CSL, there's no way I'm taking CSLA and I'll be dropping Chinese for physics. I don't want to miss like the whole of physics 1/2.

So could I take the eligibility check sooner? I'd appreciate any advice. :)

Hey, this is what the VCAA website said about eligibility for CSL: https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/curriculum/vce/vce-study-designs/chinese-secondlanguage/Pages/index.aspx

A student is NOT eligible for Chinese Second Language if they have had either:

12 months or more education in a school where Chinese is the medium of instruction, or
3 years (36 months) or more residence in any of the VCAA nominated countries or regions.

The nominated countries and regions are China, Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macau.

If you're still unsure about whether you'd be eligible for CSL or not, I'd try to get into contact with the Curriculum Manager (on the bottom of the same link)

Or if you can't get in contact with the Curriculum Manager, I'd try contacting VCAA: https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Contact/Pages/Index.aspx
