Hmmm...no Clark for the first test? I think Clark is really important for the Australian bowling lineup and shouldn't be ignored, he's more like McGrath than anyone else in the Australian lineup and McGrath used to own in the Ashes. Plus Clark was Man of the Series last time I think.

Stumps on Day 1, First Test.

England - 7/336

Decent score by the poms, you'd think they'd make around 360-390ish which is a pretty good return. Sets up this test pretty evenly and alot rides on the English bowling performance in the next few days.

Especially coz they've got the spinners that can exploit a 5th day Sophia Gardens wicket when Australia presumably bats their 2nd innings. Sorry, Nathan Hauritz.

i think England seems to have the upper hand atm. 435 is a good score for batting first as it puts a lot of pressure now on the aussies to make around 500

Anyone think we're going to get a result? Hard to see it happening I reckon.

Yeah sorry.

A result = NOT a draw. So one team actually 'wins'.

looks like it might be a draw if the pitch stays the way it is.

Ponting complained about England's time-wasting tactics. imo they weren't such a big deal because the alloted overs were played through, more of a big deal was Johnson wasting the new ball, North bowling, Hilfy not getting his chance.

Things are getting pretty interesting at Lords now.

Stumps on Day 4, Second Test.

Australia - 5/313 chasing 522 for the win, needing a further 209.

Not out batsmen:

Clarke - 125 (198)
Haddin - 80 (126)

This partnership is worth 181. After completely writing them off after being bowled out for 215 in the first innings, I think Australia are a real chance from this position. The match obviously hinges on if Clarke and Haddin can continue their partnership and for how long. Having said that, Johnson is no slouch with the bat and wouldn't be suprised if he made 50+ in this situation.

Going to make for an awesome finish tonight!

It will be a world record if we manage to pull this off. Go Aussies!

Mmm, the problem for Clarke and Haddin is getting their eye back in.

It's still a new ball and flintoff will be looking for a wicket early.

If they can hold steady for the first 10 overs or so, Australia should win.

Ahh well. Became impossible once Haddin and Clarke went so quickly.

Well done to England, they deserved it more.

LOL... its the ashes of the first time england lost to australia. english just invent the "sport" and then we beat them. so out of frustration they burnt the ashes which what they are playing for now.
