Title: Any clubs you recommend?
Post by: gregi on January 29, 2009, 03:17:29 pm
Any clubs or social group you recommend joining for first year students? I want to meet new people.

Maybe there'll be a group for "Losers that cant hold a conversation in real life" for someone like me.

username: Try SSS if you're at Melbourne or MSS if you're at Monash for that. :P

As for gregi, it'd help to know which uni you were at in order to be able to recommend clubs?

... Well I'm an idiot :P

Gregi: Arts society has LOTS of people no matter which uni you go to. Arts students' reputation paints them as one of the more sociable groups, thus that's where I'd start if I really wanted to meet people.

If you want to meet like-minded people join the society of your faculty, you're bound to find people you get along with. :)

Make your own club! I'd join.

edit: I was just looking through clubs, forgot about societies.

Holy shit! Our one is called CSS.

During O-Week. I would also recommend the Engineering Students Society, they have lots of BBQs and beer. Avoid the PIRATES and the Chocolate Lover's Society, they aren't worth it.

So.. stupid question but can you sign up for that society even if you're not doing engineering?

I think you can join any society you wish. The only restriction is that you may not be able to be on the executive if you are not part of the ethnic group or take subjects that are appropriate. But if all you are after is food and social events, don't worry.

They jst like monies.

More signing up = more monies.

Monies => $$.

Monash has a beer brewing society.

I do not like beer.

I decided against signing up.

Also monies: ¢, ¥, £.

Dear god. Just seeing the tides of people who will be there makes me nervous.

Ooo, a shirt! There's also a goat. Sounds like fun.

edit: I'm a bit confused. On the o-camp site, it says 'Indemnity Form (coming soon)', but in the pdf, it already has a link to this form. Do we have to wait for an updated version, or is that the one?

Having thought about it more, getting drunk with a bunch of strangers doesn't seem like the greatest idea.. but thanks for answering my question anyway. ^^

WHERE IS YOUR SENSE OF ADVENTURE?
Title: Re: Any clubs you recommend?

WHY ARE YOU YELLING AT ME?

Well, I don't drink, and I'm not much of a talker. The goat and volleyball are enticing, but not enticing enough for me to fork over $144. I'll think about it some more, but the best case scenario I have in my head so far involves me having a Gob moment, puking, and then falling off a canoe. So yeah, where's my sense of adventure? It's currently lying on the floor after being beat up by my common sense. :P

Alright! Let's do this! :D

It would be quite funny if you were, actually. What would you do if I went, anyway? Follow the buses in your rickety old car, then try to find one specific dude amongst ~250 people? lol

clinton: I've never really been on a forum with this many options before. For some reason, I feel compelled to use it. :P What's in there isn't really integral to the post, so it's only there for people who can be bothered reading it.

Well, since you're so eager, here's a nice big picture of me to help you out.*

*not actually me, obviously.
If you ever find me, we can have as much fun as you like. ;)

On a more serious note, I may be unfit, but I'm pretty sure I could outrun an old man. Unless you're like that guyliner dude from LOST of course, then maybe I might have some problems.
