ridiculous. Cheating pfft, its a place to collaborate and share ideas. You can "cheat" at home, so banning it form school is futile. zzzzz.
I guess they banned it because its a forum, you talk to randoms, so its like "MSN/hotmail" coz u can communicate

I'm not too sure about this, but there were students in the past from my school who cheated and plagiarised essays that were on the internet and it became such a problem that VCAA had to come my school to deal with the issue. Maybe that's why BOS is prohibited at my school?

That's just plain low. I can understand why it would be banned because of that then, but banning it for no apparent reason is ridiculous.
Have you asked your tech moderators why? Maybe they saw a lot of frequent visits and traffic to VN and just thought it was noneducational...

This is absolutely stupid. VN gives students a forum to do collaborative learning (the best kind of learning). Is it cheating because students aren't paying to maximize their ENTER (I.e. going to an overpriced TSFX lecture) through collaborating with some of the brightest students Victoria has. Seriously, how many students have the money to go to these sessions who monopolize students.
The way VCE is run is to either pay up or be left behind. If you have hundreds of dollars to invest in these sessions your chance of getting in the 40's is dramatically increased.
Getting off my soapbox, you can always save the practice exams on a USB.

LOL! only 3-5 people know about vce notes at my school =='. our school still charges 10cents to print a piece of paper. we just got like 6MIL grant + another 2mill recently. -.-

It just says some crap about the IP address. It doesn't even say why it has been blocked. screw it, theres like 8 days of school left anyway :/

I think my skewl uses desktop monitoring software. This girl in my software dev class went into facebook when my teacher left the room. What the girl did not know was that my teacher had 'snuck' out to check the computer which monitors activity of all computers in the school (u can see what the person is doing thru a screen shot). Anyway, so when my teacher came back, she started shouting at the girl...it was hilarious cause the girl was fully in denial. Eventually, after 5 minutes of trying to prove that she was innocent, she was sent to time out!

My school loads so much shit onto the computers, the Core 2s run like P3s. Once one of my friends was copying some movie (In the library, it wasn't even during a class) from USB to USB the mouse magically moved to click on the movie to delete. They have a lot of free time to check out what students are doing....

My school charges $20,000 a year, and printing in colour costs like 70 cents. Right.
Anyway, VN is similarly banned for us. Most likely because of the complete ban on forums though.

I understand cheating as taking in an "illegal" sheet or answers to an exam or SAC which hasn't been authorised, and NOT when u wanna look at VN during lunch, or in free periods. zzzz so rigged.

My accounting tutor mentioned the other day that he writes questions for the VCE Accounting exams.
It was lol... @ uni-level, the lecturers are WAY too lazy to make their own exam Qs, so they just recycle stuff.
But @ VCE, it's like this whole fine-tuned process of fantastique and original Q writing.
Yeah... random.
