i know this has probably already been answered.... but ive just spent half an hour searching through topics to find an answer and failed... when do we know for sure that our timetable has been allocated and finalised?
-
http://allocate.cc.monash.edu.au/
Thu 19 Feb 5.00pm, Allocate+ closes to students
Fri 20 Feb, sort is run
Tue 24 Feb 7am, Allocate+ opens to students in Allocation Adjustment Mode (i.e. you get your timetable, but you can move into other lecture/tutorial times if there is space left in them and if it doesn't clash)
Mon 23 Mar 5pm, Allocate+ Allocation Adjustment Mode closes. View Only Mode open to students (this is when timetable is finalised and you cannot make any more changes)

damn thats painful... my boss has been on my back for a whole month trying to get me to tell her when im able to work. so she just went ahead and made the roster for the next month and has put me on during the times i was hoping to get allocated to >:( not happy jan.

You've had a whole month to say when you're able to work. You nearly always get your first preferences. You could have given your work a rough guideline.
Ie I told mine near the end of january my availability is likely to be such and such but I can only confirm it on the 24th feb and tuesday and thursday might change a bit in when I can start.
There is no way I would leave work hanging and tell them after the roster is done that 'oh i can't work then i has lecture', when you have known about that for over a month.
-
I'm not telling my workz until 2moz/2nite.
Workplace politics, and me putting it offs ::)
I consider 2 weeks notice 2 b fair in my circumstances.
I mean, they can fire me with less notice than that.

Well, aren't you special. Perhaps you should spend less time tooting your own horn about how awesome you are notifying the place where you work (lol, a job of HEIGHTENED RESPONSIBILITY I might add) and more time helping shona instead. Not castigating her for a mistake she made without the knowledge that "you almost always get your first preference". Something someone who has seen how Allocate+ works for 2 semesters would know. Not a first year who has no idea and is afraid of misleading her employer.
Nice work there, genius.
Re: Shona, what happypuff was trying to say in a highly unnecessary, self-promoting, and snarky tone, is that you should give them the times you hope to be free. At the same time you should tell them that these times are not final but it should be a rough guideline.
I'd also apologise for the delay, but then explain that you were worried about giving them the wrong times, and then having to reverse them a few weeks later because you weren't sure how reliable the Monash timetabling system was.
I'm sure they'll understand. :) Good luck.

Moving on >.>
I checked my allocations coz prefs close 2moz and I did mine a while ago (jst wanted 2 make sure I was still happy with them).
I think they added a new tute time 4 1 of my units; there was 1 there that wasn't there b4 and it had 0% as it's popularity thingy.
I actually prefer that tute time to wot I had as my original 1st pref, so I put that 1st and pushed all my other prefs bak 1 (1st became 2nd... u get the idea).
Do u reckon that if not enuf ppl do that tute (coz it's empty @ mo) that they won't run that class, and I won't b able 2 get in2 my 2nd or 3rd pref? (coz they're both sitting on bout 200%)
I jst remember that last semester, there was a nearly-empty tute that they canceled bout 3 weeks in coz there weren't enuf ppl in the class.
Hmmm... as long as I don't have any 8am classes and I get 2g2 uni only 3 days a week, I'll b pretty happy.

As much as I agree with you enwiabe, a bit of tact could have been used - especially as you are aware of her medical condition that makes it very difficult for her to be empathetic.

Btw isn't it Allocate8? Allocate+ is what they use in UoM.
-
Btw isn't it Allocate8? Allocate+ is what they use in UoM.
lol rly? UoM website says Alloc8.
-
apple u idiot. monash is allocate+
-
is it too late to transfer?
-
transfer to another course or transfer to a different subject?
-
sorry, transfer to another course, i guess. i think you should just go look at the timetable thread on the UoM board.
-
HAHAAH LOL SHIT I GOT CONFUSED.
:(
-
U THINK UR CONFUSED, TRY USING ALLOC8!
ba-dum tssh!
*crickets*
-
I feel good going to monash now :D
Allocate+ was a dream compared to alloc8, what an epic failure :P
-
man, I had it all planned out. since i lived too far away from monash, i was going to live on a bench somewhere near campus. at least then I wouldn't have to get ready and travel a couple of hours to and from just for one fracking seminar. >:(
-
Dude. UoM rocks, stay with it. If you wanna change, pl0x give it to me. :P
Just because the IT infrastructure/timetabling system is shit, doesn't mean the education is shit lol.
(but im really starting to <3 monash now lol)
-
well, i know that. you'd think that having one would make them capable of having the other, though. -_-
-
haha yeah. Weird. lol
Ours is just so organised and simple. lol
+ Monash is recognised as 'reputable university' by Citi's books which is fkkkkn awsum :D
-
yah, i was playing around in that MUTTS (?) thing whenever i got bored while waiting for offers. so pretty. :D
-
haahah yeah, but MUTTS sucks :P. Allocate+ is so much easier to use imo.
Is your timetable done? After this nightmare, youll be learning the good shit :D :D :D: D: D:D:D:D
-
as a non-monash person, i don't know what that is. i like that mutts thing cos it had a pretty grid i could export to excel. in comparison, i have huge text lists that hurt my brain at melbourne.
my timetable is no where near finished. i still keep running into timeout error things.
-
haha. I never really gotten use to the MUTTS thing. I got a word template (costa gave it to me as i was lazy to make my own that was legible LOL) and organised it from there.
Awww. :(
-
monash have MUTTS, allocate+ and 'costargh's grid' :) :) :)

I don't get it champorado how did do your timetable at monash, when you received an offer from UoM?

MUTTS + enhancement studies account?
-
no. guest login, lol.
-
why do none of my subjects EVER have any options for different times, except for labs/pracs???
I even checked out my second year subs and they all have only one option too... looking at the UOM lecture.. they have a billion options for everything. I want a day off :(
-
yeh lets just hope I get it! (or at least something similiar)
-
Do we get to edit our timetables similarly to the UoM ones on Tuesday at 7am? Is it 'first in best dressed' ? (lol is that the expression? im an idiot)
Grrr im so annoyed, I had mine in to 3 days then realised i'd put a 2 hour lecture at 12 and a 1 hour tute at 1, so i had to change it all around and now have to go 4 days :(
-
Yes you're allowed to change into other tutes/lectures if they're not full and there is no clash
-
units are out on blackboard everyone............. or is it just me...
-
^^
Ive got one on blackboard --- since jan!
Also - you can see your timetable in mymonash - go to this weeks timetable (nothing) - then click next week and your timetable pops up :)
-
Depends on the unit coordinator and how organised they are.
2 of mine r up (JPL1010 and AFC1000), but not Macro yet.

gosh i hope thats not confirmed. i went form 3 day timetable to 5 day timetable. and i've been slotted into random lecture times that weren't even being offered.
-
i'm beginning to think that this 'timetable' is definately not right. i have the same tut like 5 times. =|
-
where is this timetable in blackboard?
-
where is this timetable in blackboard?
It's not a timetable. It just means that you've been enrolled into the 'classes' in Blackboard.
You'll find your timetable will be populated from the Allocate+ system to my.monash in the week.

YAYYY I FOUND MY TIMETABLE!!!!
This was what i originally wanted

Allocate+ was a dream compared to alloc8, what an epic failure :P
Monash have invested a lot of money into their student management systems from what I've seen, having worked in the group that deals with a lot of systems you guys will interact with (WES, eParking, Allocate+). There is a big push towards systems integration at Monash, I might add. You may already see this via my.monash (with WES). The thought behind SI is that it provides a seamless user experience.
If you ever go to see a psychologist, careers counsellor (or events run by them), among others; chances are you'll be managed by a system that I designed while working at Monash. This system is, of course, integrated into the core student management system.

ALLOCATE+ >>>>>>> ALLOC8
-
(http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j117/sxy_grk_star/sdjh.jpg)
Damn that is one sexy timetable... Wish mine looked more like that, and not so uneven with 6 hours on tuesday and 7 three other days.
ALLOCATE+ >>>>>>> ALLOC8
Having never used Allocate+ I would still vigorously agree with this statement.
-
Nice timetable costa - looks like it worked out quite nicely for you :P
-
I hate my timetable :S
-
But... are those timetables confirmed...?
I've got a AFC1000 FRIDAY tute... WTF.
I didn't put any Friday times as my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th OR 6th preferences.
I do NOT want 2g all the way 2 uni 4 a single tute.
1st preference my ass.
Now I have 2 wake up early 2moz (on my day off) 2 try and get out of that stupid tute.
/rant.
-
I hate my timetable :S
Aww... wot've u got?
Well... @ least it looks like I didn't get stuck with the 8am lecture...
Other than that and my Jap CompLab session (which I can't check yet coz it's beyond nxt week's timetable) I got mostly wot I wanted.
Mmm... I jst really hope I can change out of that tute :-\
I told my boss I could work Fridays.
I mean, wot were my chances of not getting in2 1st - 6th prefs? ::)
-
I hate my timetable :S
Me too! Can't wait to change it tomorrow..
Luckily i've got 3 days a week, although got massive breaks on all 3 days, hopefully i'll be able to fix that up.
Got put into the 8am BTF1010 lecture nooooo! This lecture wasn't even up when I chose my preferences!
-
Hmmm. I just looked at mine again. And my weekly nursing placement hasnt been included.
weird?
-
This is what mine looks like at the moment: (I made a typo on monday too. It's ATM1030 not 1039)
It sucks!!!
I have to go EVERY DAY and there are so many gaps between the classes >.<
LOOK AT FRIDAY :(:(:( 8am start and a gap between each class :S Tuesday is my favourite though :)
also, where is my chem lab? lol
-
I got a lame timetable, although Wednesday off, big breaks on the other days with nothing to do :(
-
<3 thanks for your help you guys. sorry for the late reply. i can only get onto vce notes from work cos my dad blocked it from home cos i got addicted to it and he thought it wasnt helping my stress levels. haha. lol i am a bit ignorant as a 1st year, but i told my employer a while ago that i had my preferences in, and she said to just tell her when i know for sure. :)
oh man i hope that timetabling thing is not right... i have 2 sets of 4 hour gaps... and for some wierd reason i only have 12 contact hours... i thought i had 16? hmmm. i guess ill wait till 7am tomorrow

OMG I AM NOT HAPPY WITH MY TIMETABLE AT ALL!!! ahh i didn't even put those lab preferences first or second........!!! god two labs on the same day are they kidding there's freakin two times for monday ... ah wait... who do i talk to to swap lab times? is it the allocate system or the unit coordinator?
wait... why is my timetable even showing at this time? isn't it meant to open tuesday 7am in adjustment mode? so i still have a chance? cause right now there's no allocate ajustment mode. hmmm maybe wait until tomorrow.... stupid allocate!!! give me first preference bitches! lol
-
Couldnt be happier

Well... I got in2 a Monday arvo tute 4 AFC1000... with MUCH difficulty... but it means that @ the moment, all my tutes r all in a row! >.<
I still wanna try and change that...
*Wanders bak off 2 Alloclash*
-
Instead of trying 2 change AFC1000 (coz it was only Friday or 8am tute times available), I've pushed my Jap tute 4ward an hour 2 give me a bit of a break in b/w.
Edit: Changed it again ;D
Timetable @ moment:

Nothing changed. Fairly happy :P
-
U can't change out of that Monday tute?
I'd try and change in2 Friday...
-
Nope that was the best I could do :( Originally I had it down to three days but then had to change it all coz I hadnt realised my INT1010 lecture was 2 hours which completely stuffed it up.
-
Haha, should I post up my timetable? :P
-

Lol!
Go on then :P
-

Haha, when I get home from "Uni" :P
-
What does it mean when you havent been alocated to a class. Most of mine have been allocated, but some just says "read only" and lists all the times, but Im not allocated to any???
-
Oh and I think its because the 2 I havent been allocate to - my placement and a tut for the same unit, there is no way of doing it without clashes :knuppel2:
Who should i see about this?
-

Who should i see about this?
My guess would b the unit coordinator.
There's absolutely no way of doing it w/out clashes?
-
^^ Nope.
This is the timetable so far (attached)
NUR1011 - Placement - MON 8-12 OR TUES 10-2
Tutorials (2hrs) - THURS 9 or 11 or 2 MON 11am.
Cant do tues placement, so would have to be monday, then i cant do any of the tuts due to clashes.

My guess would b... u will b manually enrolled in2 the Monday placement, and mayb in2 the Thursday 11am tute so @ least u can attend 4 an hour.
It's something u're gonna have 2 discuss with the unit coordinator tho.
-
The only thing i could think of is to move my hsc one on thurs to friday and then the nursing tut into that 11am spot. then ill have a full friday (9-4 with no breaks)
-
does anyone know how strict they are with lectures? do i have to attend the one im allocated to or can i go to another which is more convenient for me (i have a whole heap of clashes)
-
It depends on the lecturer and class itself. With some classes it doesn't matter if you miss a few, but with others you have an attendance record and need to attend a certain amount of classes to actually pass the unit.
-

Probably not a good idea 4 the 1st week or 2.
*Every1* goes 2 their 1st couple of lectures, and the lecturers will know if ppl r going 2 lectures that aren't their allocated 1 coz there won't b enuf seats 4 every1.
After those 1st couple of weeks tho, less ppl rock up 2 class and there will b spare seats.
As long as ur classes r large enuf 4 ur lecturer not 2 b able 2 notice u, u'll b rite.
-
thanks!
i went on allocate+ and there was an opening for the 11am lecture (the one i wanted) so yay!
things worked out well for me
-
OMG YES BITCHES I GOT THE TIMETABLE THAT I WANTED wooot lol! i love you jenny science timetable officer! no more two labs in one day woot.
ah how do u attach your timetable or copy it into here........
-
My new timetable... so annoyed I have to go in for that 1 hour on Wednesday, but I guess that's what happens when you change subjects.. all the good places are taken.
