The Dutch look good, but all their players are injury prone; robben, Van persie (especially him), sneijder etc. also, they haven't had a good goalie since van Der Sar Retired. Their defence looks weak as well, their main strength is in midfield.
Spain looks likely to win
On the provision they can stay fit and injury free for the next 6 months i reckon they'll have a decent shot. Also, Stekelenburg (VDS replacement) has been quite impressive in goals for the last 12 months for both the national team and Ajax Amsterdam

anyone reckon Brasil will win? they have a pretty solid squad. though Kaka and Robinho may not be coming off a good season, they still have quality to win, I reckon. They have players like Luis Fabiano, Maicon, Lucio, Elano.. just to name a few. (though they left out Pato and Ronaldinho!)
don't think so. relatively solid backline with maicon/alves, lucio, thiago silva + juan + cesar. will all depend on the balance they strike with their midfield. they only seem to have two decent holding midfielders - ramires + silva (who is 33) melo is crap. so maybe, depends on dunga.
it was quite clear from euro 2008 that spain were/are the best team in the world. now everyone has jumped on the bangwagon lol.

If he actually had two strikers playing, the centre backs could focus there attention on them and not be concentrating on the one striker (Cahill) completely shutting him out and forcing him to make that tackle which got him sent off. And he misses the next game.

I mean, the formation we played during the qualifying campaign may have boring and unspectacular but at least it was effective and they knew the system. -- to play Cahill as the lone striker was a bad choice as it's not his natural position!

Honduras vs Chile should be alright. Suazo, Palacios and Figueroa for Honduras. Suazo and a few others for Chile are capable too. Not big names but technically gifted players, we could see a few good things.theyre both playing attacking should be one of the better games..

If Ghana win then we can win by any margin and along with Ghana, Australia will qualify for the next round.

Its totally unfair that Kewell misses the next game for closing his eyes and the ball conveniently hitting his friken bicep. He wasnt putting anyone in danger and there was absolutley nothing he could have done about it. Especially with 1 x 10^-12498729387529234 seconds reaction time. WTF STUPID FIFA RUles.. while on the other hand (was it Vidic?) who deliberately handballed it the penalty box, conceded a penalty (which was saved rofl) but he only got a yellow? The refereeing of this cup is shithouse!

Kicking at the arm means you get a penalty which is most likely a goal, PLUS one of their players get sent off. Would be hilarious to watch a 11v5 game or something.

imo a video ref is all thats needed.
It'd help, but it won't solve everything. Current soccer rules seem a bit subjective, and refs will never overturn their decisions on something which they can mildly justify even after video footage.

The whole game's fouling system seems to be based off the consequence of an action, not the action itself which is really stupid.
btw, that's clearly not true. A studs up tackle is a red card even if you don't make contact with the other player. Same with a high boot, you can get a yellow card without making contact.

finally aussies win, that was a great match, both sides playing excellent in the 2nd half.
It was a good match when Verbeek decided to sacrifice a defensive midfielder and then we got immediate results. Cahill finally got to play in his preferred position and Kennedy got to start, albeit he can't with his feet.
Overall, imagine what we could have done with Kewell in the midst of things as well.

Simone Pepe concedes the World Cup was “a sporting tragedy,” but felt newspapers went too far depicting the team in Azzurri coffins.
The media was understandably critical when Italy crashed out of SA2010 by propping up the group behind Paraguay, Slovakia and New Zealand.
Perhaps the cruellest of all was a cartoon by Il Giornale artist Giorgio Forattini that pictured a pitch with 11 coffins in Azzurri colours, laid out in a 4-3-3 formation.
“Whoever drew such a thing should be an undertaker,” slammed Pepe. “I hope soon they get to build a coffin for him instead.
“Of course we are upset and disappointed, as going out of the World Cup in the first round was a sporting tragedy for us.
“I accept criticism, but depicting us in coffins on the front page of a newspaper is really going too far.”
Pepe is already looking ahead to next season, where he will switch from Udinese to Juventus on loan.
“Now I dive into this new experience, as Juventus are a great opportunity for me. In any case, the World Cup was an important experience to have.”
