Title: Reflections on year 12, 2007

What are you reflections on year 12 - 2007?

Well for me it was both a learning experience and a wake up call :)
Probably one of the worst years of my life so far...

I'm very happy with my ENTER score, but that's not what I value most from my 13 years of education. I learned alot, improved not only intellectually but as a person, made some great friends and met some truly inspirational people. That's the part I'm most happy about. And VCE was lots of hard work, but ultimately worthwhile.

I'm sooo glad it's over though! That year was really annoying!

I think it was a good year, easily the best I had at school. I managed to achieve my goals academically, and I also found other parts of life more enjoyable as well. Next year is rather daunting, but hopefully it will be the experience I want it to be.

I don't really know how to describe Year 12 - it's one of those bittersweet moments of your life filled with both happy and too, rather tough times. SACs, exams and english all do your head in, stress you out and may make you cry. Yet the good results, the 18th's and that awesome feeling when you finish that long awaited last exam are just a few of the good moments of year 12.
I also can't forget the comfort that forums like this gave when I was procrastinating  :D. To all the regulars on this forum, I value your input into this forum. You guys are gun!

I'm very glad that school's over. Now I can actually get on with my life without having to learn trivial crap that won't help me. For most of the year VCAA was like "slooooow down" and I was like "fuck you!" and kicked it in the face with my ENERGY LEGS! :D

Seems it was the best and worst year all rolled into 1.

I liked year 12 but really really hated the VCE part of it. Which doesn't make much sense since year 12 is predominantly VCE lol ... but there you go. :)

Being on FSN amongst all these extremely talented and intelligent people has also made me more modest which can only be a good thing, so thank you FSN haha even though it was one of my procrastination activities :P

lol, same here. I think that being on FSN has warped my perception of what constitutes as a good score or a bad score. Possibly to my advantage, definitly ensuring that I'm a more modest person with the whole results thing.

year 12 was easily the best year of high school. one of the best aspects of the year i thought was the fact teachers treat you with so much more respect than in previous years. but there were times when stress became overwhelming, and it was also frustrating to have to sacrifice your social life a fair bit towards the end of the year.

I was and always will be cocky because I'm a competitive guy, but I'm absolutely amazed at Ahmad's abilities at maths, he'll always be superior to me

and VCE really bonded people together and solidified friendships, and i really had a blast :D

Hmm, if the conspiracy theorists are listening this is further evidene that Ahmad is running AkirA's account. "He'll always be superior to me" - is Ahmad setting himself up for more ego-boosting praise? ;) lol

I agree with the othes in saying Year 12 was easily the best year of school, warts (like VCE itself) and all. my only regret from results day is that I was off the Dux by 0.05 and won't have the honour of thanking the staff publicly for their work and dedication throughout the year. I reckon as Yr12's we had the most mature relationships with our teachers than at any other time in school. Personally, I find myself remembering all the best bits, the laughter, the jokes, the antics of uni maths, etc, rather than the worst, and I look back and smile. :)

There are some jokes and funny references I'd like to have made too.
i'll reveal that once as a prefect, I deliberately labelled myself as a pervert in front of the school assembly to lighten the mood. LOL. I must add that there was a good reason for this.  :)

Here are a few points for discussion:
What would you do differently if you could do year 12 again?
What would you advise the next crop of year 12 students?

yeh i would work harder. and actually do some effing homework and stufy.

for the next year-ers. no matter how much you tell yourself you dont wana a masssivee enter and will be happy with whatevers decent, once it actually comes to getting the score, if you've put in any less than 100%, you'll be disapointed and regret it. especially if you've just bludged along.

If I could do year 12 again I would definitely try to manage my time wisely... that's something I definitely didn't do... oh and maybe I'd do a few different subjects... however I don't think I would be the person I am today if I didn't go through what I went through this year =)

Year 12s next year:
I would definitely recommend you to try your very best, be organised and stay on track, try not to fall behind.. but at the same time you should definitely enjoy the year so have balance =)
Good luck year 12s =)

No worries, trust me it's not that hard if you must create some sort of timetable/roster for yourself =)
A good way to start would be to fill in times you want to spend not studying and fitting in your study time later =)

yeah thats so true. i am quite regretful now because i managed my time really badly during swotvac and exam time, and it shows in my results with the subjects i neglected.

lol, will do. "My secret to VCE success in 3 simple letters: F, S, N. Statistics show that 15 out of 34 FSN members get ENTER scores of over 99."

Thanks guys for giving me ideas. I think I know pretty much what I'm going to say, although I have until Feb to write it, lol.

i'm pretty effing happy with my results, but if i could do it again i would DEFINITELY not drop methods. Not doing maths cuts down your options alot children!
I'd also apply for more scholarships.

So yeah my advice is just what mdee said, put in 100%. But I also think year 12 is a little over-hyped and there is no need to stress yourself out (hear that apple!), just revise regularly and you'll be fiiine

In 20/20 hindsight: More consistent work rather than frantic last few weeks work would have been more profitable.
