Very nice :)
Yeah, it makes me think that Dandenong high isn't that much of a hole etc.
Good work :D

Wow the design for the first link is very pretty. I like it.
-
Phew... ;D
Does it encourage you to have a better perception of the school by any chance? ;)
haha yes it actually does :P
-

It's really nice! Very professional looking.
Just one suggestion: keep the text of "welcome to the school of endless possibilities" there and have only the pictures change (if that makes sense)

Thanks nimna... yeah, I tried doing that but it doesn't seem to work.. I know what you mean though.
:)
-
I actually wanted that text - 'welcome to the school of endless opportunities' - just on the first picture... then have different text for other pics.. but yeah, that didn't work either.

Very nice :)

LOLLL! Thanks Hutchoo.... I just realised that these were actually words.. not a line!

Cambridge how many exams do you have left?
-
I think he only does 3/4 English?
-
Methods 3+4, Legal 1+2, Latin 1+2 and Chem 1+2. :)
-
Very very nice, much better than the old one.
P.S. Your school has the same colour scheme as mine

From a self-proclaimed design expert:
1. The writing can become difficult to see on top of the images. Don't be afraid to put a black box in the top corner of the image that blends into it. This will not only make writing easier to see but can be aesthetically pleasing if done correctly.
2. Get a better resolution school logo/images all around.
3. Nice use of negative space.
4. The flash of image changes is a little quick for my liking - even if it were slowed down by a half second it would be less sudden.
5. As you have a rounded rectangle for the home page, that squared buttons can look odd if you look at them long enough. Even just extending the maroon down may look better?
6. The header should link to the home page.
This is a very good website and a MASSIVE improvement from the original. Consider what I said but I don't have much to back me up for website design - I'm more used to layout and stuff. You obviously have more expertise than me for this. Very good job on keeping it professional looking (it is a school after all) with a still pleasant feel.
Much better than the newly redone http://resources.mhs.vic.edu.au/mhs/

The new MHS one looks like shiet.
No offense to the kid on the website.. but at least shine your shoes and get your hand off your cawk. =.=
I like the OP's one more :P
^ What Burberry said = g00t.
EDIT: Offence or offense ):
-
Yeah the new MHS one is shocking. It was paid for as well - not a student's work :/

Thanks mate!!
What do you mean by 'negative space'?
I'm actually not an info tech expert at all... the Wix system is just easy to use. :D
By the way guys, this website was actually free to do! All you need to pay for is the domain (.vic.edu.au one) and getting rid of the Wix ads if you want to.
And I did it in only 6 hours! And the MHS one does look a bit woeful... thanks guys.
-
Negative space is the purposeful use of empty space around objects etc. to draw attention etc.
Basically the white. It looks better than overcrowding like what was done in the MHS site.
-
The website has been edited with the NEW LOGO!! Thanks to BURBERRY!!
-
Do you want me to fill the image so it blends with the header?

What kind of colours would you use? Because if it stays on the dark blue header, it'll be hard to see? Or maybe a light blue header? I'm not sure.. you do a few and I'll see. :D

-
This is the same colour as your header.
-
Second website: Very good. Replicates an iPhone in some ways. But the font for Call Ben is godawful.
-
Thanks burberry. Could you try a light blue background?
-
This is the same colour as your header.
Keep the white background, but put a thick black border around it
-
or?
-
Looks good... but I'm not really a fan of gradients.
-
Fair call - either. Just trying to get around the white b/g problem.
-
Hmm.. I honestly can't see a solution either.. how about do the whole thing a light blue header? No light blue stripe.
-
Look strange with the DS?
-
True.. any other ideas?
-
Black.
-
:-\ :-\
Black doesn't suit the school 'colours'.
At the moment, the white square looks really tight-fitted doesnt't it?
-
Black suits everything. Black is the new black.
Try it out.
-
Ok.. could you do a mock-up of black?
-
When is this due? Currently doing some BM but if its not urgent I'll find some time soon.
Edit: You can open it up in paint. The background is plain white on that image.
-
The logo and nav menu (fonts especially) look a bit out of place. Everything else is nice and round then you have square boxes there, I'm obviously no web design guru but just giving you a lamen's opinion.
And lol do you go to Dande high? I went to st johns

HAHA just saw it, faggiest looking unicorn ever on the right

;D ;D
-
The text on pictures issue has (finally) been solved.
-
the logo overlaps the home and about buttons a bit when you click on curriculum, about, etc..
not sure if you saw this or not
it doesnt really matter though :)
-
Do you have a nonJS/Flash alternative?
There is still an alarming amount of people who fail to install JS/Flash on their computers. You're website looks heavily dependent on these, you may want to make sure that it is still functional for users that don't have it installed.
A big improvement on the old website nonetheless.

The front page slideshow has been fixed... can you tell me what you think please?
-
Text changes before picture does.
-
Yeah, I know.. haha it's a bit difficult to get the timing right (the text and the image are not on the same slide)
-
Just a little thing on flash issue,
Search engines are unable to pick up writing in the Flash script, so you'll have to put some 'meta' tags in with discriptions. Otherwise in the search engine results page there will be a discription for the website.
PM if you need a hand with this, it is very easy though.
