Title: the best songs to study to
Post by: simpak on November 05, 2010, 07:18:46 pm
Yay!  What are your favourite songs to study to?  I want a Study playlist, it will be badass.

Note: not to be confused with 'favourite songs to listen to when you're on your way to exams but don't want any songs to be stuck in your head during the exam so you must choose wisely'...which can also be discussed here.

I have "Motivational Songs"

Does that count?

WELL it depends.
Songs to study to have to be ones that you typically either.
a. know well so they don't confuse you
b. can ignore to some extent but drown out the silence
and
c. that you either know the words to, don't need to know the words to or that have no words so you don't RUN THE RISK of MESSING UP YOUR PHONOLOGICAL LOOP.  That would be disastrous!

Oh haha they probably dont satisfy all that criteria... i just used them to psyc myself up before exams and stuff

Something instrumental would be good for studying or Binaural Beats apparently improve your brain/thinking power

You got your own selection?

LOL at the reference to Baddley's model of working memory......sooo subtle.

And you're right. Today in methods I had "Transatlanticism" playing in my head during the exam. I was like SHUT UP DEATH CABB ARGHHH.

hahaha. I'd like to see you try! :D

Trust me. In an exam, you DO NOT want death cab blocking your thoughts. I don't care how good they are haha.

I had the climax bit stuck in my head so it was loud too :(

I don't listen to music when I'm properly studying because I find all music distracting... But when I did "homework" I guess this is one that I would have playing:

Fuck tha police
Comin straight from the underground
Young nigga got it bad cuz I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
They have the authority to kill a minority

Fuck that shit, cuz I ain't tha one
For a punk muthafucka with a badge and a gun
To be beatin on, and throwin in jail
We could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell

Fuckin with me cuz I'm a teenager
With a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin my car, lookin for the product
Thinkin every nigga is sellin narcotics

Best inspirational music

Actually, re: studying, my friends and I decided on Twitter, Rainy Mood + anything goes well.
But especially The Album Leaf and Rainy Mood.

And of course, Anthems for a Seventeen Year old Girl, and Rainy Mood.

I use to study with Jonsi and Alex's album in the background. It's subtle enough that you don't really notice it. I imagine Brian Eno would be good as well.

Yeah Jonsi/Sigur Ros is another good study combo - largely because of the lovely music but also because you don't have to bother to listen what is being said, you will never know!

Another good option are movie soundtracks. They tend to be good 'background' sounds that don't overly distract you.

This is great for study. Especially when you pretend he is rappin' bout exams, not stage fright.

Wait who are you asking?
I didn't get to see Jonsi :(
I didn't have enough money so I could only afford two Splendor side shows.
Chose Frightened Rabbit and Broken Social Scene.  Do not regret!
