LOL time will tell. It was a good win by Liverpool over Chelsea, but it's only one game. =P

When you say "we are only going up", that is most true considering Liverpool was at once stage, in the relegation zone. If Torres stays fit and scores goals, then you might have a chance of doing well. My opinion of Liverpool is that they rely on Torres and Gerrard too much and when those two aren't playing, the team becomes exposed - Liverpool's back-up striker is Ngog which says a lot.

Let's see where Liverpool end up finishing after the full 38 games have been completed. =)

LOL.

My predictions for this season is: 1. Chelsea, 2. Manchester United, 3. Arsenal, 4. Manchester City.

I'd still think Liverpool will finish in the top 10, possibly 6th or 7th - with the quality of players Liverpool has, I'd doubt they would go down, though you never know.

man city..lol...they lost to lech poznan..lost to wolves...no chance they will get 4th...and these were 90% full strength teams....the amount of money they spent on stupid players is amazing...they think this is nfl where you can throw on an offensive team and defensive team at half time...............annnddd i hate and i hope man utd do not finish top 4.....they scrape through every match getting a lucky goal every time..

Manchester City are inconsistent - there is no real cohesion in the team.

As for Manchester United, they are weaker than they were a few seasons ago. Now they are rely on more players to score goals - spread the load around, whereas back in the day, they could rely on Ronaldo/Tevez to get the goals. Having to rely on Park shows just how far Manchester United have missed their star players. Though I'm still willing to say that Manchester United will finish 2nd. =)

FWIW, I think United are significantly weaker then in previous seasons but we can still win the league. However, we really need Rooney back and in form. We had almost no attacking threat today against Man Shitty. Our wings also look a bit deflated. Don't get me wrong, three-lung park works his ass off for the team but he just looks very blunt against good opposition. We need Valencia/Giggs back. Encouraging to see Hargreaves back...hamstring shouldn't keep him out for too long... hopefully he returns this decade!

Blame the Glazers. Fucking cunts. There was a time, not so long ago, when playing at Old Trafford meant you hoped you wouldn't lose too badly. When the game was over in the first 20 mins. These days, teams come to our ground and outplay us. That's just not Manchester United.

Sir Alex doesn't want to spend big I suppose, rather focusing on more cheaper youth players (i.e. Smalling, Bebe etc) =P

Encouraging to see Hargreaves back...hamstring shouldn't keep him out for too long... hopefully he returns this decade!

LOL yeah, Hargreaves hasn't played a full game in ages and when he does, he somehow always seems to get injured.

Considering Manchester United are in serious debt, I think the Glazers are trying to save money. They don't want to blow out the debt any further by paying players massive wages and huge transfer fees to clubs and so on. Though as the game evolves, it is true, if Manchester United don't buy any key/star players into their team, they may fall from the top tier of English Football.

Teams coming to Old Trafford no longer fear MU, because they have lost key players in the past two seasons and teams are finding it easier to break down MU.

True. As like Chelsea, some MU players are aging. Though goalkeepers are the exception, they can play into their mid 40's. David James is like 41~42 or something and still playing.

My suspicion is that Arsenal will be at the forefront of English Football in the next few years, with a good crop of youngsters - players like Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott, Fabregas etc who are all relatively young.

LOL Arsene Wenger calls it "maturity". When they win he goes "We have matured and grown", when Arsenal lose he goes "We were not mature today.." and so on. Playing attractive football can only get you so far, it's about winning trophies - if only Arsenal were like Barca.
Title: Re: Liverpool
Post by: MBBS on November 11, 2010, 09:40:58 pm
Lol. Big claims your making there. Anderson is unproven but Rafael is miles ahead of any defensive player his age really. The glazers are the reason we are in debt mate. They took out a loan to buy the club and now we are paying that loan. Manchester united have not finished outside the top 3 is 20 years. FWIW our team in 05 was ear worse than the current crop. United will continue to dominate for years to come. Sadly, modern football is decided on a club's ability to generate income. We have the largest stadium and the widest fanbase globally. United isnt going anywhere.

What's with Chelsea at the moment?!. lost 3 matches in a row. =='

Liverpool won 3-0... against West Ham.

El Clasico is next weekend - Real Madrid v. FC Barcelona - Ronaldo v. Messi - shall be a great match!

FCB won 8-0 on the weekend and Madrid won 5-1. My prediction for the match is that it will be a draw 1-1 or FCB win 3-1.

I don't think so. As with most soccer matches, you need pay TV to watch them - La Liga, EPL, A-League, Serie A.

You'll probably need to go the pub, or somewhere where it has Foxtel to see the Madrid/Barca match.

I would of thought Man City, but im sure they have their hearts set on Dzeko based on reports.

Was going to say this also, pretty sure he'll die before he signs for REAL Madrid. The problem with a move for a player of Torres' caliber, is that he doesn't have many places that are up to his standard should he decide to leave.

But you can definitely say, playing with Liverpool in the Europa league is WAY below his caliber. Torres will never win any accolades at Liverpool, he will never get a Ballon d'Or at liverpool. He is outperformed by David Villa in the spanish national side and Liverpool won't be winning the UCL any time soon. He is however, a player who definitely has the talent to win those medals and trophies.

If Man City secure a top 4 spot he could go there given the money they can pay. He could also fashion a move to any of the other big 3 EPL clubs, or perhaps move to the other big foreign UCL clubs.
Title: Re: Liverpool

I put Torres' "fall from grace" as far as the World Cup. He underperformed there and this has led onto his club level. He's been in poor form and has been in and out of the Liverpool team through injuries etc. If not Real Madrid, then Chelsea or Manchester City. They are really the two clubs besides Real Madrid that can compete to get Torres, financially. In any case, Torres would have to leave Liverpool for a substantial amount of money (wages & transfer fee).

yes europa league is below his caliber... for many of the first teams caliber at that.
but, think about the players he plays around when he plays for liverpool and when he plays for spain, completely different in terms of ability.. and how the managers of each team (LFC: benitez/hodgson) and (SPA: del bosque) have different approaches to how their team plays and the way in which they want torres to play.
i seriously think if we had a decent manager, who knows what to do in the transfer market and plays some good football, torres could definitely become the worlds best.. under hodgson it won't happen.

if he was to move anywhere, it wouldnt be anywhere in england, he's not as stupid as tevez. torres is a loyal player, who respects the amount of adulation he receives from our support group and wouldn't turn on us. only clubs i could see him joining are barcelona or atletico, i dont think an exlpanation for each is required.

stop talking about liverpool, chelski scum.

What's your view on Liverpool then? :P

... I suppose you're a Liverpool fan, so I wouldn't get a straight answer.

At the time of posting, Liverpool sit 9th on EPL table. In many instances, Liverpool rely on Torres far too much to win matches for them. I suppose you're just frustrated your team hasn't won any trophies since 2006. Pity. Liverpool went from 2nd in the 08-09 season to 7th, last season. Liverpool aren't the same team that they were a few seasons back. At one point or another, Torres will become disgruntled at the lack of trophies and in any case, will move in the future - that is of course, if Liverpool actually start to WIN trophies, then he'll stay.

In reference to Andy Gray, no one is worse than him. I don't hate Liverpool - I'm just stating what's obvious to all. Accept it.

It's a shame you can't accept other people's views about a football team. What I said about Torres is merely an opinion - nothing more, nothing less. There was absolutely no need for the word "scum" to be used.

/end rant.

Liverpool fanship in Australia around our age generally stems from the 2005 Champions League and the fact harry kewell played for them during that time.

Hey, could you tell me why Chelsea have the tag 'Chewsi Rentboys?'

Also, Manchester United are often referred to as Man U, this is the single most embarrassing name you can call the club if you’re a united fan. Manchester United are probably going to win the league title back from Chelsea. I don't know how they are 2 points ahead of Arsenal, having played a game less. They keep grinding out results to their credit. :P

Hmm the socioeconomic environments that surround EPL are fascinating but cause a lot of conflicts. xD

And english accents are funny as. Man United is pronounced as "Marn Yooo Knighted"

And yea, they look set to win the league.

Another poor result from chelsea and liverpool, a loss of tottenham, all out of the title race. It's now between the Manchester clubs and Arsenal, United's to lose.

Considering Arsenal win their game in hand, Man United would be 7 points ahead if they win their 2 games in hand.

Arsenal beginning to hit form, watch out  :D
