I'm normally the last person to care about celebrity stuff, but I saw some magazine at 7\11 with Rikki Lee from Aus Idol on the cover and it said "how I lost 20 kilos". I've seen her more than once going on about loving her curves and promoting healthy body image, and then she decides that her body isn't good enough an loses 20 kilos? I know It's unhealthy to be overweight, but surely 20 kilos is a sign that you really wanted to the change the way you look. It just makes me wonder how many people ACTUALLY like the way they look.
It's coming up to summer and so many of my friends are working so hard to have a great "bikini body". It just seems a bit ridiculous to me that they're willing to go to all this effort and deny themselves the food they love so that guys will see them in a bikini and think "damn, I'd hit that."
Maybe this should actually be in rants and debates, but it just seems like everyone thinks they'd be happier if they looked different. How do you guys feel about that? Personally, I'm not the skinniest person but I love the way I look. I put on weight recently and at first I thought it looked a bit yuk but then I realised that it can be really sexy having a bit of extra curves. I honestly couldn't care less about being skinnier. Thoughts?
-
Well I don't really care how I look lol as long as I keep fit and healthy that's all I care haha
-
Im too fat, but I've stopped all sports and put on 25 kgs since VCE started :(
Need to learn to incorporate exercise.
-
Put ON 25?!? I've LOST 10 this year since i gave up training... what an odd world :/
-
WTF did you train for????
I did mostly running training playing soccer.
-
I've definitely put on weight this year even if its not noticeable.
But Ricki lee is still in the healthy weight range im pretty sure.
-
Dude howd u put on 25kgs ....
I quit training for taekwondo this year and ive only put on about 5kg.
-
Everyone wants what they can't have... it's just human nature.
Personally, I wish I had blue eyes like my sister and half-brother, or auburn hair like my brother... I got stuck with the generic hair and eye colours in my gene pool.
My weight hasn't fluctuated by more than 2kg since... well, since I stopped growing.
This includes both periods where I've done heaps of extra exercise, and where I've forgone exercise completely for lengths of time.
I don't diet... never have, and hopefully never will. Generally speaking though, I have rather healthy eating habits anyway.
I wouldn't say I'm skinny, but I'm not fat either... I don't think I need to be wearing a bikini for guys to think "I'd hit that".
Overall I'm content with the way I look.
However, I find I'm happier with myself and more confident in myself if I'm fit and have been putting in some exercise... otherwise I feel sluggish and urgh.
So... I guess it's more like... if I feel good on the inside, hopefully it shines through to the outside =)
I'm so glad you're happy in your own skin, schmalex.
It's nice to hear :)
-
Yeah i reckon putting on 25 is a gross exaggeration... that would be like adding another 50% of yourself lol it just doesn't happen.

hmm maybe he meant 2.5

Rikki-Lee was beautiful the way she was before :( I'm glad you don't feel like you have to be a stick insect to be attractive. I never thought she'd bend to the pressure of being thin.
I don't bother with "bikini bodies" because
1) I don't wear bikinis, I don't actually see the appeal in them; and
2) I'm spending summer in the European winter, all covered up in shapeless thick coats :D *eats another block of chocolate*
-
I've never really been unhappy in my body.. but maybe that's because I've been sexy my whole life. But seriously, I've just never understood feeling insecure about how I look.
-
My weight like, doesn't change; only increasing by tiny bits and fluctuating randomly o_O
I eat a heap though, but I guess it's due to my height xD
-

Muscle loss? :P
YEAH. My body is ehhhhhhhh, I train a little bit .. karate.. cardio... weights.. but i'm so far from sxc abs its not funny LOL.
My goal over the summer break is to study, hang out with friends and exercise!
I went through a hugggge growth spurt.. like 15cms this year? Idunno, something godly :D
I need to lose some weight though LOL.
P.S To all girls on the forum.. STICK GIRLS = GROSS
SERIOUSLY, IF YOU'RE A STICK.. EAT SOME FVKN FOOD *hands over dolma/lamb/pilaf/turkish delights etc*
CURVES ARE HOT.
-
Hmmm...
Well I lost like 10 kilos in VCE because I always forgot to eat because I would get wrapped up in question exams.
But then when I started uni I put some weight back on again.
Now I am dieting with my boyfriend as a moral support system...but I just ate a chocolate cupcake...but he doesn't have to know that.
Anyway, I'm not unhappy with the way I look most of the time.
The only bad thing about having curves is that my boobs are too big to fit in clothes, especially those with zips.
And if you've been paying attention, you would realise, all good clothes have zips.
-
I put on about 8kg since the start of VCE due to quitting jogging, sport and swimming.. but I love my curves now. I'm not fat nor thin and am quite comfortable with how my body looks. But... my mum thinks I have gained to much weight and she's putting me on a diet now that I've finished exams.. and I guess I'm just going through with it. To be honest, I think curvy bodies are sexy and thin bodies dont always look perfect! It's looking and feeling healthy thats important :)

I don't know why girls think size 2 or w.e is hot?
I SERIOUSLY DON'T GET IT.
-
I put on 15kg since starting VCE... but I didn't like the way I looked before either lol so meh
-
Im not lying. I was extremely fit before and ate a lot. I stopped running etc, almost kept the exact same eating habits. I was 74 kg and 182 cm before vce.

Hey don't be mean to skinny chicks. I know a particular girl who is naturally skinny and she can't do anything about it. It's in her genes and so, has nothing to do with her not eating. Trust me, she eats a whole lot more of junk and food, than the average person and yet puts nothing on. She’s naturally petite, and if she goes on reading posts as such, it can come across as quite offensive and may potentially lower her self-esteem. And as if girls don’t already have enough expectations nowadays…
I understand what you mean when concerning those who deliberately shed weight to look like a stick, basically gaining the image of an anorexic and to that, yes that is perhaps slightly sick and as you said "gross" but those who do not bring it upon themselves are not "gross". To be honest, I find that previously mentioned girl beautiful, haha but that's beside the point..
My point: yeah curves are nice, but just because some girls don’t have them and are skinny, doesn't mean that they’re automatically “gross”. It’s a tad unfair to say that, I reckon.
-
Oh, what I said was a bit ambiguous.. sorry.
I don't think skinny "chicks" are "gross".
What you said here:
I understand what you mean when concerning those who deliberately shed weight to look like a stick, basically gaining the image of an anorexic and to that, yes that is perhaps slightly sick and as you said "gross" but those who do not bring it upon themselves are not "gross".
I meant something along those lines.
-
i should be rated Australia's next top model.
:2funny:
-
IF I LOOKED like SNSD then i would call myself hot. but i look nothing like them so i dont like the way i look.
-
SRSLY GUYS, all that matters is your ATAR.
The first question i ask any girl before flirting etc. is
"So what ATAR do you think you can reasonably expect to get?"
If it's below 80, SEEYALATER.
Nahh, that would be harsh and superficial in an unconventional way.
My view is thus:
A girl should look healthy. Healthy=Attractive, because Healthy=Logical. Double win.
-
Just went for a run. Did i nearly die running a mere 3km? You bet!

Don't worry, go for a 3km run every day of the week, and it will be easier and easier each time, then increase either pace or distance gradually.
-
Yeh I know. Will do a few more 3km and hopefully get into the longer runs within a month. FWIW my longest run ever is 14km plus 2km of subsequent sprints training.

This guy is a beast. :P

I also started out at about 2-3km and now am doing 6 or 10km everytime depending on whether I did cycling before. So long as you aim to constantly outdo yourself you'll reach new peaks in no time. What are your times?
-
Currently im just happy to finish!
5Km was about 18 mins. 200m=25.26 100m=12.38 but i always had horrible starts.

Happy to finish? I'd be ecstatic with times like those.
-
No. I don't run those times anymore!
These days 5km would be about 30 mins or so :(
-
Whatcha doing and where?
Studying in Germany for 6 weeks :) (Leipzig, though I don't expect anyone to know where that is)
-
I've been to Leipzig, Koln, Kaiserslauten and Berlin!
-
You are probably the first person who hasn't scratched their head and gone "what is a Leipzig?" :D
Would you recommend that I visit Koln? I have 2 weekends free.
-
Not really. To be honest I found stuttgart and Berlin the best.
-
These days 5km would be about 30 mins or so :(
Yeah, I was about to comment: 5km in 18 mins doesn't really go with "just happy to finish!"
That's pretty damn good!!
-
I just went for like.. a 1 hour jog/walk thing. It was GODLY. I found a horse on this patch of massive land =D. He looked sad.. so i went up to him.. and he was nice, he let me pat him :D
His new name is now Charlie...Brown LOL.
I've now come to the conclusion:
Good music + Nice horses = Great exercise LOL
-
i gained like 5-10kgs through the year..
though i practically look the same, and i can still run quite fast
for 100m sub 12s, and am able to play out 90 mins of soccer
despite my only physical activity through the year being
school sport (training and games)

I used to just wear t shirts and board shorts to beach because I didn't care, and it's sooo much easier not having to put sunscreen everywhere, but now I just feel like wearing a bikini and being chubby and beautiful and not caring what anyone has to say about that. I want to be the anti- Rikki Lee and hopefully I won't kill my arteries in the process :D

I know it was a major market town in Medieval times (like Bruges) and Leibiniz is from there. That is all.
edit: Having looked at a map, it doesn't seem too far from Prague, which everyone says is well worth visiting.

Prague is also expensive :(

I'm naturally skinny, eat so much and don't put on any weight, like the girl you described. I don't do any sports, stopped when I was in year 8 so that has nothing to do with it.. I'd like to be able to gain some weight though so I have a little bit more curves than I do now but I'm content with the way I am because I know I can't really change it.
There will always be something people don't like about themselves.

I suppose that's why Brits often fly over to spend a nuit blanche there.

Heh, I chose it (over places like Munich and Berlin) because of its association with Bach :P
Prague is apparently very beautiful. Maybe I'll visit it for a weekend (if I can afford it)
edit: nuit blanche? white night? what's that?

You stay up all night, wandering around -the French typically do it on Bastille Day. Or it could be some arts festival that goes on all night.
