Convince me otherwise.
-
I hate this because I know it was made specifically to annoy me.
-
Muse is 1 letter away from Amuse
-
Radiohead is god.
-
Convince me otherwise.
It's *actual* music, as opposed to metal which is a series of distorted beats and a few hoarse teenagers raging into a microphone.

Don't dignify him with a response...
-
Both Muse and Radiohead are amazing
Radiohead especially
-
In other Radiohead news, LP8 is again seemingly delayed, which is utterly annoying.
Favourite albums?
1. OK Computer
2. Kid A
3. Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows
4. The Bends
5. Amnesiac
(I don't count Pablo Honey as an album)

Muse is high tier
Radiohead is god tier
There is so much texture and emotion to Radiohead songs. You might not see it at first, but it slowly draws you in. You could listen to them over and over and keep discovering deeper nuances in sound and semantics.
You can tell they're a band about music, not about commercialisation or sex. Real good blokes.
On a sidenote: Bodysnatchers - 2:13 all over the keyboard
And one of their most haunting songs: Spinning Plates

Radiohead cover every emotion. This is my favourite song of theirs (although its not as good live)

Sorry to double post, but holy shit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-QmqxNgr5w&feature=related
Hardcore radiohead fans only.

This is such a misguided view. Not all metal- in fact a great deal of metal (which is such a broad term) has quite melodic singing: case note: iron maiden, megadeth, metallica even (don't like metallica myself), twisted sister, stratovarius and so on...
-
As if Metallica is metal.
I don't share that view at all, but I understand Chavi's reasoning. Being a Radiohead fan gives you a high horse automatically, because you are listening to one of the greatest artists of this and the last century.

Metallica has degraded into rock yes, but i'd say their earlier stuff could meet the metal genre. Have you heard black sabbath's early work? Would count as rock (maybe) today.
I don't like radiohead, I heard that song "freak" (or something like that) and thought "this is bollocks."

It's funny how Metallica fans are reputed to be hardcore metalheads when the music isn't really that heavy.

It's called creep and is a sub par song.

Metallica sold out.

Muse is poor man's Radiohead. Radiohead has some genuinely interesting music, and I don't think anyone could call kid A or amnesiac anything less than awesome.

Mmhmmm. My favourite metal would be prog-metal bands like Periphery, Dream Theatre, etc. So melodic and musical...quite unlike the stereotypical assumption that metal = screamo.
-
This thread needs more punx rawk. In other news, I agree; I just never got what the big deal about either band was.
-
Metallica is basically, the original metal, just because the genre has changed to encompass bands like Whitechapel and Carnifex, doesn't mean Metallica has changed. That said, anything past 1990 by Metallica is trash, rock-crap.
-
I thought you said "anything past Metallica is trash, rock-crap" and was about to rage. Then I re-read it and realised the error of my ways.

Wasn't Metallica in 1990? Therefore the two are the same?

Lucky! Hahahahaha.

I think you're missing the 'by' bit.

The Eraser is also a great album by Thom, I reckon it's good enough to get placed alongside the radiohead albums

This thread needs more punx rawk.
Punk was an excuse for not being able to play your instrument. Case example: Sid Vicious, he was hired for his attitude (which at one point involved beating a guy with a motorcycle chain) rather than his musical talent.
-
Someone I know who's a Radiohead tragic is well into a band called Tunng
-
Hey /0
If you're into Radiohead and Thom Yorke, give this a go.

It's inoffensive pop music manufactured with an illusion of deeper values in order to appeal to the masses who enjoy sounding 'indie'.

Btw I think the general perception of metal is anything with screaming in it. You're probably thinking of screamo, or deathcore, which pop fans have turned the image of metal into. That's the stuff with the angsty teenagers in it.
You might appreciate more melodic forms of metal :)

Some people say speed metal is very soothing.

Nah. I like noise.

Honestly, the term Screamo has been hijacked by MTV to describe anything with screams. It's a legit genre with roots dating back to the early 90s. I just felt like I needed to clear that up.

Thursday drew a lot from the 90s Emo and Screamo scene. They are more Post-Hardcore though. Check out their debut album: Waiting. IMO, it's got a more raw and honest sound compared to their later works. Another definite listen for them is their split with Envy
-
I would like to add to this post that The Strokes also suck.
-
Lol. The Strokes sound pretty alright

Pablo Honey is actually a good grunge album, it just doesn't live up to the rest of Radiohead's album, and most music doesn't.
