I'm getting mine taken out + 2 second molars (with local anesthesia) by a surgeon on the first of Feb. IIRC it costed like $2500

They said there's like a 2% chance of bruising (and destroying) some nerve under the gums that can cause issues with speech/ability to taste/numbness :/. Also its expected to have killer pain for the first 3 days and then eases up and stops hurting after about 7-8 days.

I believe I am getting them removed at the end of the year sometime, at a hospital. No way would I ever do it while awake and I'm getting them all out now, so I don't risk them coming through.

Although I do have one or two friends who had two or so removed by their dentist and they recovered remarkably quickly.

I had it done - but by a surgeon and I was completely out. The pain really wasn't too bad. They gave me these awesome drugs to take that completely knocked you out. I really hadn't experienced 'drowsy' until then. I had a small amount of swelling, not so much on the first day but more so afterwards.

The worst part was not being able to eat regular food. And having to watch everyone else eat things you couldn't.

^ When you talk about it like that, it doesn't sound too bad at all! :)

The pain isn't that bad, but your cheeks will be swollen up for a while and you should pray that you don't get an infection in the aftermath of the surgery because that just sucks. (there's nothing anyone can do to stop it, it's just bad luck)

My sister got it done at the dentist. It was like a few years ago i think she said it was really noisy.

But i remember there was alot of swelling and stuff for a few days which looked extremely uncomfortable.

Does everyone have to get them out? I remember my dentist saying i had to a while back but no mention of it as of recently.

Oh yea, this sounds scary but do you need to return the next day to remove the wire?

Hey guess what, I don't have any wisdom teeth.
Like, not ever.  Like, they're not on the X-ray.

Costed me 1400(dentist fees)+200(anesthesist fees)+289(hospital fees) altogether. Ended up getting 400 back from insurance.

I went under general anesthesia, only about 2 hours of swelling and no pain whatsoever, pretty lucky I reckon

im on a waiting list to get mine done. I need 4 wisdom teeth pulled and two molars that are in the way.

I have a small jaw so two wisdom that have come through are smashed and two molars are smashed due to pressure of teeth moving in my mouth and pushing on them

took mine out about 4 days ago and the symptoms are pretty clear.
Day of the operation: numb lower lip and chin, fatigue, blood clot healing but bleeding like crazy, poor speech
Day after operation: numb lip, still weary, swelling left cheek (not flabby though its hardened so the gums inside must be reacting to the drugs) excessive bleeding in the gums, can't chew, can't spit properly (your mouth is very weak), rinsing your mouth is a pain in the ass
Day 3: malnutrition can't eat meat so no protein, face becoming pale, all I can eat is yogurt/jelly/icecream which you would think is enjoyable but not for me it's fkn shit I need my asian home cooking.
Day 4 (today): even worse, very tired, swollen cheeks both sides grown an extra chin LOL (more like half a chin) but I lost like 2kgs coz of a meatless diet

I want this to be over already!! i'm sick of it

if anyone is considering getting their wisdom teeth out haev at least 2 weeks free from the operation onwards you wouldn;t want to go to school with fat cheeks and fatigue
