Title: dif dif differentation...
Post by: khalil on March 22, 2009, 10:35:25 am
(loge X)^3... how would you find the differentration for this..lol. forgot how to spell it!

is it the same as loge x^3   ? i don't think so though!
thx...in advance

use the chain rule.

Are you sure that logs are same?
compare:
(log e)^3 =1^3 = 1
(log e ^3)=3 log e= 3

note: I used log to base e,  that is ln.

Not sure what your concern is, but 'log e' by itself has no meaning, it has to be . It's like saying "calculate 3*", 3 times what?

I was refering to Damo17's statement that given logs are the same. however, he relized his mistake and edited his post (which is OK, we all make errors).
Re log expressions, I just did not have time/skills to type mathematical notation of log x with base e and have used an example to show given logs are not the same.

Yeah, I was in a rush then.

that's ok Damo17,
i just wanted to clarify it so khalil is sure about the question.

Thanks for correcting me. I could have read this topic 100 times and still not have seen my mistake.
