Title: Fluent English vs. Sticking to Latin when translating
Post by: ellecee on August 28, 2011, 03:47:38 pm
Hi guys!

When translating the Aeneid and unseens, how do you find the balance between nice, natural English and making sure all the grammatical features are noted? If I stray too far from a strictly literal translation (which is often really dodgy sounding in English), will it seem like I don't understand a particular construction?

Thanks heaps.  :D
