Hey I'm new here, but have been lurking arround for info for a little while.
Anyway, my class is nearing the due date for our productions based on our Production Design Plans. Most in my class are doing either Print or Photography, with some others doing film. I've notice many people have been spending ALOT of money on their work. They also seem to be doing it in fear of losing marks. Our teacher seems to think we will lose marks if we do not spend vast sums of money. I know I want quality printing and it can costs a fair bit (I've spent about $60 printing photos) but some people are also spending $50+ on things like mounting pictures.
Is it posible to lose marks for just presenting Photos or Print productions in a simple black or white pages portfolio. To my information the production design plan outlines how you would have liked it to be presented but ultimatley must be presented in you're portfolio that your design plan is in.
Can anyone help enlighten me on this topic? Is anyone else spending this much money?

I made a film however almost all of the students in my class doing print and whatnot ended up mounting their items. I would suggest you do it, but ultimately if it's going to be an issue coming up with the money you should probably just speak to your teacher :D

Thanks for the reply. I ended up displaying it using some large, different coloured sheets of paper he found in one of the backrooms at school. A few other people did that too. He seemed okay with it. Didnt look too bad either. The people spending the most money were the few that made a poster or two. Cost alot for printing that size.

I spent $0 on my film and got an A+. The only money I needed to spend was for food and drinks for my actors.
It doesn't matter if you spend hundreds of dollars on a product that in the end isn't very good. You're better off to spend as little as possible and make it a high quality piece of work.
But of course if you're doing print then best quality print material will make it look professional and give you an edge.
