Can the school stop you from doing a different module on the exam?
I really want to do a different one (because I suck at the one we are meant to be doing), but they have said that I can't.
:(
-
you can do any 3 modules you want, but if you do more, they'll mark the first 3 they see (i.e. won't take your 3 highest)
the only restriction is that you have to do the core module, but apart from that it's your choice, it's actually pretty common to choose a different module(s)
-
You can do a different module to the school, but you will (unless the school is generous) have to sit a SAC on the module that you are changing. They can't stop you doing a different module on the exam, someone in my class last year did it and did quite well on it, so this year the school changed one of the modules to it. Anyway, yes you can do it, but if the teachers don't like you doing it, then just don't tell them.

You will able to do anything on your exam. DONT DO MORE MODULES THAN REQUIRED. It would be so dumb. dumber than leaving out a multiple choice question. Anyway. You will probably have to sit a sac on Matrices but your shit at that and want to do lets say trig on the exam. Its absolutely fine But you have to brush up on your trig skills of course

As i can remember exam 1 only allows 3 modules + core on that multiple-choice sheet

^agreed doing more modules than required in the exam just wastes time and that time wasted could be instead used to check over your work

leaving out a multiple choice question
Off topic - I left a multiple choice in my psych exam - I deserve to be shot :(

On purpose(like just didnt know the answer) or you forgot??

Of course you can do a different module to your school, it's not up to them. If they aren't willing to provide a SAC on the module that you want to do on the exam, then it would probably be best to just study your ass off for that SAC and do your best then if you are still not confident with it, teach yourself another module and choose that one on the exam :)
I was lucky enough to have a teacher that organised a business math SAC for me as opposed to the rest of the students who were doing trigonometry and if you can study effectively and ask any questions on these forums, there's no reason why you can't do as well as the rest of your class even though you're learning by yourself.

I did Graphs and Relations instead of Business Maths. :) If the teacher is nice, then they'll understand.

I plan on doing the exact same in the exam. Can't stand business maths!
-
Just been discussing how bad we hate business maths in a different thread.
Geometry and Trig- probably because we've gone through all of it in Year 9/10, so it's just building and consolidating what you've learnt. I think Business Maths looks awful though- glad my school isn't doing it!
Love business maths! Very simply if you're good at accounting - especially loans, depreciation, taxes, etc.
But they (business maths) drive you insane if you like shall we say 'real maths', no offence intended. (srsly no offence, accounting suits some people, but not me, sorry)

Oh my lord. You are so right. I hate all the real life factors and the fiddly work with business maths. Do you hold this to the next year? Do you consider leap years? ETC ETC!!! ;OGHGNOVSINDFI[GBDFS[NBYUERIPNDSIUVBGDSP!!!!!!!!
Whereas, with graphs and relations. I do methods 1/2 also, it is just sitting in a methods class. I love some algebra I can dig my fingernails into.
-
Ahh, I hate it so much!! Graphs and relations is the best from doing methods!
@Tomanomanous - You said it perfectly, I feel the exact same. I understand your frustrations completely!!!!

The school is not told what modules you have answered in either exam unless they request that information from VCAA for each of their students or they get the exam supervisor to record their observations. Nobody is going to be bothered to do that.

I'm planning on doing matrices instead of geo & trig. I hate bearings, contour maps and 3D shapes. Can't wrap my head around those unbearable things. I was wondering if anyone had notes related to matrices that I could use as a resource/reference? Like the kinds that teachers give for very module you do? :S

WHY WOULD YOU???
WASTE OF TIME

Not really, if you did Graphs and Relations and you got 100% and you just can't stand say Business Maths and you get 70%, you'd do Graphs and Relations no matter if it took up more study time :P
