Was alright, couldn't manage to get the area of the intersection of the two circles and also missed the last bit of last question. How about you guys?

Couldn't verify the differential equation and couldn't find the az thing.
Think I got the very last qn wrong as well, got like 240 something lmao.

Extended response, I stuffed up the z=az(bar) thing, and the last part of the last question, which all in all would have cost me 4 marks, but hopefully I manage to salvage 1 for working, so I guess 77/80 from just discussing answers...etc. Harder than last year's exam!

I got 1.4 something for circle I think.
I found the area between the bottom half of the circle that was translated 1 unit upwards and the line y=x then times area by 2.

1/zbar is equal to z/|z|^2 i think so its a dilation

I'm not sure if this is right, but what I did was:
1/(x-yi).
(x+yi)/(x^2+y^2).
X^2 + Y^2 is positive.
Hence it's just a similar thing but brought back a bit.

C is complex number set which includes R as well :)

j was off to the left
it went 25m to the left and 175 metres forward so i found root (2x25^2)
pretty sure that's right, i felt smart as fuck when i got that

I found this year much harder than the previous years. Probably due to exam pressure and the panic attack i got halfway through when my calcs batteries died (luckily i had 2 spare ones on me so it was able to last just until the end of the exam).
I've already noticed a few careless mistakes i've made so far, which is annoying; especially with negatives...
Hopefully looking at 74/80, but i'm quite certain careless mistakes will take me down to ~65

you had to integrate the outflow between 0 and 10, the eqn was x/(1+t), and you had to sub in x with the function

what do you guys think i could get if got 70/80, 39/40 and pretty high sac marks (ranked 2nd). 44? probably not i guess

Overall a hard exam, however not the hardest exam. It was full of tricks from previous VCAA exams that lots of students dropped marks on. If this was the first exam in the study design, it would be the hardest, but considering that most of the parts that you needed to 'think outside the box' were similar to past questions, it wasn't the hardest if you did the past exams and read the assessment report.
Here are a list of tricks I saw:
Finding the concentration (Q5a) - Exact same question as 2005 Exam 2 Q1a (even the same answer of x/(10+10t) LOL). Only 20% of the state got this right in 2005. The next part of the question where you had to find the differential equation was also the same.
Verifying x(t) by substitution (Q5 b?) - Same idea as 2010 Exam 2 Q3a. 85% got 0 marks for this 3 mark question in 2010 and only 5% got the full 3 marks.
Finding the m1 and m2 (last part of Q4?) - Similar idea to 2007 Exam 2 Q3e. About 50% of the state got 0 marks for this 4 mark question in 2007 and only 14% got the full 4 marks.
There's probably more since I can't remember all the questions and haven't checked every past exam but those are the ones I saw.
Personally I managed to finish. But didn't have enough time to double-check multiple choice and according to iTute, I got 3 wrong already :(

Lol - its funny how all three of us are sitting on the same mark. I got the volume question wrong. For some reason, I got 12101 (exactly half the answer...). *Sigh*
Also, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I stuffed up the distance question. Actually, come to think of it, I think I'm sitting on 76 right now. Likely deduct another 2-3 for other careless errors.

Don't worry. I've thought about it and I reckon there's one mark for rearranging for x^2, one mark for the integral but because the next part is separate...they might give the mark based on the integral you put above. Well...I'm hoping anyways. XD

Haha we both know someone that got 48 and dropped 3 marks in exam 2 but that was in Methods ;)
BUT if this year's exam was exceptionally hard, it might be 48 or even 49!

my method was correct for the m1, m2 question. but if i made a calculator error (forgot to divide by 9.8) is that 1 or 2 marks off?

Well considering you had to draw the ellipse through the extreme points, on the gridlines, do you think you need to label them?

Thought that one mark questions don't get consequentials, if you don't get the integral right, they won't award the mark for evaluating it in the next question, otherwise people would just make up integrals to get the evaluation mark

There were marks in there for finding the x intercepts because it is asked for you to write down the x intercepts.

2006 - Mean=40.63; SD=7.4; 30 went to 41; 50 went to 55
2010 - Mean=36.89; SD=7.4; 30 went to 38; 50 went to 52
If the mean were to increase by 3 and we leave standard deviation the same, wouldn't that mean 50 might scale up to 54?

use pythagoras' theorem.
the ball landed 25m horizontally and vertically from the hole.
so sproot(25^2+25^2) is approx 35m
