Title: Doing Yr12 Japanese n/year. But I will die in anything to do with listening.

Okay, I'm not bad at the grammar aspect.
But when it comes to listening - I perish.

Let me try and explain this - -

If I could read what I was hearing, I'd register it.
But I can't register anything when I'm listening to it  I don't know what to do. And all the audio CDs we use in class cost upwads of $200 online.

Please, I need you guys to help me out here. Please save me. How can I get better at listening?

Two pieces of advice.
1. Learn the vocab to make you that you actually know what you're hearing.
2. Watch looks of anime and drama without subtitles to get you used to hearing Japanese. At first you hear nothing, but as you get more and more used to hearing Japanese, the words begin to pop out. And native anime and drama is way faster than the listening tasks, so the listening tasks will sound slow in comparison.

When it comes to listening its practice that really counts towards your listening proficiency.

Given we don't have much time left, I would recommend going through the vcaa audio files and listen to them repetedly until you can keep up with the pace. Save them on your phone/ipod/iphone/mp3 or other portable device and just loop them over and over. This is what I used to do so that I get familiar with varying speeds and accents etc.

Then once you feel comfortable try listening to one of the earlier year's one with the actual exam and see how much you can answer. Given that you are good with grammar and know a fair bit of vocabulary　I am sure you will do well.

Remember to use note taking skills properly and listening time effectively. Good luck!
