Hi guys,
Just wondering, if you redo a subject, do they take your most recent score or the score you did better in?
Thanks.
-
I don't know the specifics, but they take only a certain percentage (10% I think) of your highest score, an exception is if your redone subject is your English.

Don't think this applies anymore. If you repeat a subject and get a better score in it, that score counts with no handicap.

Yeah they take your best score.

So technically I can repeat year 12 until I get a good score? hmmmmm :)

They take your better score.
However, while that may make repeating a subject sound quite attractive, you need to really ask yourself if you're prepared to "re-learn" or at least sit through a year's worth of the class again. I repeated a subject this year; I can tell you now, it was incredibly boring to begin with, particularly since I went in with the mentality that I already knew everything and couldn't really learn much more. The key to keeping interested is to genuinely try and enjoy the subject, try and do some work or if not that, try and do something productive. Contribute to the class and help others if you can; you'll not only be helping them, but you're also helping yourself by revising and consolidating the material. And of course, don't be afraid to keep learning - there'll always be something new you can pick up.
Good luck! :)

Just got some unfamiliar questions....e.g I got 45 for methods this year(2011) and a 48(2102), do they take your higest score?
I thought there will be some deductions of the mark if you redo the subjects.
-
They would take the 48 ^^^^^

You keep all of your studies in total with the best score being used if you repeated a study. However, only 4 subjects count fully towards your atar and 2 more contribute to 10%, so if you do more than 6 subjects in total, then the rest won't count for anything.
Picture this scenario:
2011: English [30], Methods [30], Specialist [30], Chemistry [30], Physics [30]
2012: English [25], Methods [35], Specialist [20], Biology [25], Psychology [30]
The subjects which will count will be:
English [30], Methods [35], Specialist [30], Chemistry [30], Physics [30], Biology [25], Psychology [30].
Note that you keep all studies that you performed in total, but if you repeated a subject, then you only keep the best score of that subject, since you can't have the same subject twice.
However, only 6 can count towards your aggregate, so in that case, biology would probably not be included.

Okay thx and what if I get a 40 in methods (2011) and repeat methods in 2012 with a 35,
they will still take the same score, yeah?
Btw I thought there are some deduction of the mark due to repeating it or there's nothing about this.
Thanks a lot:)

I don't understand why people still ask questions about this, if you repeat a subject they take your better score, simple as that.
