Title: Accounting 2012-2013 VCE
Post by: LOLs99 on December 13, 2011, 01:47:01 pm
Is it alright to skip 1/2 to do 3/4 in 2012
and if the score doesn't satisfy me, I will do it again in 2013.
Any comments....TQ :)
Btw are we allow to skip 1/2 VCE accounting?

Yes, you're allowed to do 3/4 accounting without doing 1/2.
You can do any 3/4 subject without doing 1/2.

Lol, okay so it's also same as what you said recently-you can repeat it until satisfy.
Are you sure you can do any 3/4 without having the need of 1/2?I don't think you can do spesh
without doing gma. Thanks again :)

You can definitely do specialist without doing GMA. Almost 1/4 of the people in my specialist class next year haven't done GMA.
The teacher just gave them heaps of extra homework to do over the summer holidays :P

OK, thanks buddy but last one- I haven't actually require for accounting 3/4 and now I'm doing 1/2.
Could I change my course(1/2) to 3/4 acc at the start of the schoolyear?

Not too sure about that...
It's more of a school thing than a VCE thing.
Most schools request that you choose your subjects before the end of the school year.
I would ask what your school thinks about it.

There's quite a big difference between doing a 3/4 subject in year 12 to doing one in year 11.
In year 12, you can do almost anything you want (provided you do at least 1 english subject and you don't do specialist without doing methods), regardless of whether you've done units 1/2 or not.
In year 11, you can pretty much only do what your school lets you do. If you were talking about doing units 3/4 chemistry or specialist in year 11, then you would have to ask your school about it and the answer would probably be no (unless you are an exceptional student).

But since accounting is considered an "easy" subject, they should let you do 3/4 accounting in year 11 without having done units 1/2.
Quite a few people at my school did unit 3/4 "easy" subjects without doing units 1/2 whilst they were still in year 11, such as psychology, biology and further maths.
Most people that accelerate methods usually have to do units 1/2 though.

But in answer to your question: Yes, you can repeat a subject if you didn't score as well as you wanted to in year 11.

So I was planning to do 3/4Methods, Bio3/4(approved), Accounting 3/4...
Does it seem alright?
Btw I didn't do 1/2 but I have the basic skill, so alright?

At our school, if we don't do the 1/2, they make us go to summer school (e.g. TSFX, NEAP etc.), which isn't too bad but I reckon it would be a bit costly and you probably wouldn't understand a lot of the stuff.

Why do you think you can't understand a lot of stuff?

Because you can't exactly properly learn 2 units of VCE for the first time in a 6 hour lecture. But don't get me wrong there are probably people out there who can.

There will be changes in 2012..

yeah although i think there's only one text book for accounting which Cambridge makes, i got my accounting 1/2 book from this year, but the study design is changing so that book will also change, but still you should be able to use it to look at over the hols since i did and i'm moving into the new study design next year.

As for lectures, I havent really been to any given that it was only units 1 and 2 but i've heard the tsfx ones are pretty good.

It is of my understanding that you can do 3&4 of a subject without doing the 1&2 equivalent, as long as you satisfy the amount of units to pass VCE. So you couldn't do all 3&4 subjects without doing any 1&2. I think it's a minimum of 8 units of 1&2 and 8 units of 3&4 (or something similar) to satisfactorily complete VCE and acquire a certificate.

Keep in mind that you will need to put a great deal of study during the summer holidays to gain the knowledge from 1&2, units 1&2 are there for a reason ;)

Ohh, tq but is it compulsory to have 8 units for 1&2?
Don't 3/4 go thorugh 1/2 stuff during the year?

I'm not entirely sure about tssm, cause' i havent really been to any of there lectures but i think they focus on maths.

and they don't really go through 1/2 stuff during 3/4, so i don't think you should depend on that

Lol, but thanks buddy haha so is there website useful for vce accounting?
Btw I was wondering if we could work through those old study design prac exams
coz we are heading towards the new one. Or will they rework on the old ones and give out a suitable one..
