is this the 2011 one ? only? theres quite a few scores from previous years? (e.g. my SS will count for this year ONLY in this thread, despite the fact i recieve ATAR next year)
I think the adding back in possibly might be due to multiple moderators updating the post at close to the same time.is this the 2011 one ? only? theres quite a few scores from previous years? (e.g. my SS will count for this year ONLY in this thread, despite the fact i recieve ATAR next year)
I tried to edit a few out (like mine for bio), but someone added them back in. Meh.

WOW!! Congrats to you totaled! :D
Chinese SL: 43
:( I felt disappointed when I got it (at 6:50am LOL), then happy when I saw the scaling report, and disappointed again when I realised so many others did much better than me. I don't know how I'm supposed to feel, because I didn't study as much as I could've, but then I can't imagine that I would've studied much more even if I could go back and do it again.
But anyway, congrats to everyone else on and off this list, you're all amazing. :)
My only subject which got in the 40s was legal on 43, *Cries in corner* haha, nah I'm happy :)

Nah man, I'm the Camberwell 'awesome at humanities' student I guess. Nobody wants to hear the story of the white boy who doesn't do a maths or science haha. Cheers by the way, and congrats on your result - a very auspicious beginning to VCE indeed!

Highest aggregate ever?
Nah, Xavier's school captain from a few years ago had an aggregate of 218, a little above 218, in fact
Record is 221, Xavier dude a few years ago.
Xaviers School captain last year, Peter Willis got 217.9... I think that was the highest
(Methods 39 up to 44, Classical Greek 49 up to 54.8, English 50, Renaissance 50, French 50 up to 54, Theatre Studies 47)
This guy with a 221 - he gave my brother a job offer through facebook! ??

Maximum possible in 2011 was a 225.9 aggregate:
English (50) --> 50
Specialist maths (50) --> 55
Latin (50) --> 55
Classical Greek (50) --> 55
Extension maths --> 5.5
French (50) --> 5.4
But just because no-one got a 50 in Latin this year doesn't mean it's impossible does it? I'm quite sure it's been done before

There hasn't been a 50 in Latin in at least about seven years. Typically the highest score has been 47 - this year was unusual in that regard.

what was it this year, a 49, 48 and a few 47 if i remember correctly? But it's still all about the SD, if you've done well enough a 50 is not impossible
Uh uh, he's talking about RAW not scaled scores. For raw scores mean and SD stay at 30 and 7.

I'm aware of Onurs SS and ATAR is anyone else aware of it too?
Doesn't seemed legit with the '10 legal'.

Umm try faılıng all of your sacs and leave out the entıre exam empty, you wıll get a 10. :)
Congratulations on your very high atar! if I might ask, how is it that you managed 40+ study scores for all your other subjects but then got a 10 in legal, was it lack of motivation, intense dislike for the subject ect?I'm aware of Onurs SS and ATAR is anyone else aware of it too?

Did you get an S for both units?As long as you satisfy VCAA criteria - 16 units (8 from unit 1+2, 8 from unit 3+4, including 3 from English [may fail Unit 1 or 2]) - you will still get a certificate for completion of VCE.
What happens if you get an N in a unit 3/4 subject?
not sure but I think you can fail one unit of English and still get a score for it
One student at my school missed 1 English SAC, he therefore failed units 3+4 (or just 4?) English and therefore "failed" VCE.
That's correct, you only need to pass three units of English to receive an ATAR.
Are you sure that's right? We had 3 students get 0 for a SAC due to very stupid plagiarism, they all got ATARs and English study scores...

Ouch! Let me guess... the teacher copied a few sentences into google and something came up straight away?
But LOL! I wonder how they got into MHS if they'd do something as stupid as that! :P

They were actually decent students! Not sure why they needed to cheat in the first place tbh... (it was a context SAC too!)
Same thing happened at our school. Our second SAC (worth 50/200 marks) had one guy cheat by hiding an essay in his pencil case - he got 0 for that SAC. The really sad thing was, he was probably arguably one of our best English Language students in the school. I think he still managed high 30s despite that!

I'm banking on parental pressure to do well in SACs playing a part, especially if he (or the MHS guys too) were curry/asian!

Yeah, they actually undertook the SAC but did badly, they still get an S. This guy didn't actually do it so received an N.not sure but I think you can fail one unit of English and still get a score for it

Regardless of how many units you do altogether, you must satisfactorily complete:
At least three units from the English group listed below:
...
At least one of these units must be at Unit 3 or 4 level. However, VTAC advises that for the calculation of the ATAR, students must satisfactorily complete both Unit 3 and Unit 4 of an English sequence.
Eligibility for an ATAR
To qualify for an ATAR a student must:
• qualify for the VCE
• achieve study scores in four permissible Unit 3 and 4 VCE studies, including one from the English group
