So I called my careers teacher, and she said that since I received an ATAR of 99.15, I should expect a call from Monash, because they always offer people who received an ATAR greater than 99.00 an interview
Is there any truth in that?
My total UMAT score for the 3 sections was 168
Will I get an interview? I don't really mind if I won't, I'm just curious and it could put the minds of all the hopefuls out there at rest.
Thanks
EDIT:
Ok I messed up the title, I meant guarantee not guarantees. I'm sorry.

I don't know man...since my MHS friends who missed out on their UMAT, but got 99.0 or above ATAR scores have already been called for an interview in early January. Fingers crossed, hope that they'd call Monday. Best of luck.

My careers teacher said that they would offer 2nd round based on UMAT+ATAR given that UMAT was 168-194. So that means people with 194 UMAT could get an interview with ~97 ATAR (I have a friend who got this), whilst those with 168-ish UMATs would need a much higher ATAR (I'd say 99.5+). I got one with 188 UMAT and 99.35, so that was around middle-highish on that scale.
If you got one, you should have got a call on Friday :)
edit: grammar fail

A lady at Monash said they'd even be calling after the change of preference period ended, but I may have misinterpreted though
-
I know someone who got 99.75+, not sure of her umat but they did not get an interview at Monash, so I guess UMAT is definately sitll taken into account.
-
Do you guys think I have any chance at all with 177 and 99.50? Percentile wise, my 83rd percentile seems way off for an interview :\

I have no basis for this but maybe hope for second round? Your ATAR is very high and the umat percentile isn't THAT low. In my year, my friend who got 88th percentile got a second round interview offer (and I don't think at that time, ATAR was taken into account).

Hm thanks. Does anyone know when these interview offers are given out? I had no idea that I still stood a slight chance at MBBS at Monash (didn't think I'd get this ATAR) so Ill be heading overseas soon :S
@totaled, way too much faith there :P
-
A lot of people have got the call already D:
I'm guessing if a few of the interview offers are knocked back you may get one?
-
That's very hopeful xD
Should I give the Med Faculty at Monash a call?
-
you may as well! Tomorrow though, they're not taking any more calls today
-
i got 189 overall sore and 99.70 atar, I had the wrong contact details on vtac but changed them to the right ones since. Am i right in assuming I will receive an email anyway?? I will definately give them a call first thing tommorow, but Im still a bit anxious for some reason. They can't possibly deny me an interview because they couldn't contact me by phone right?
-
yeah they won't do that, people who missed their calls get an email on Monday - that's what I heard on AN

Just rang up Judy at the MBBS student services and she told me that while it is not completely impossible for me to get an interview, it is very unlikely :(
-
good news guys, I called and they said it was fine, apparently they are sending out emails tommorow.
unlucky vea, there are many other options available though, so don't give up.

Same with me... Did she mention if any interviews were still being offered?
-
e-mails came out today (about 4-5 hrs ago) :)
-
If it makes you feel any better, I got 175 UMAT with 98.25 ATAR and no interview. Meh, doesn't bother me too much, I'm happy going into biomed =D

It really saddens me to know that individuals with near perfect scores can miss out on their course, it's sort of ridiculous.

^ That's how I felt. The system seems flawed, since I scored MUCH better in gamsat than in umat (about 10 percentile difference) with similar amounts of study. Whereas one test might suggest I wouldn't be a good doctor, another did..
