Hey guys need a bit of advice for my friend which doesn't have an account for atar notes. She did biology this year and got a 26 in it. She was sick a lot of the time in hospital got operation. She still stuck with it and was in year 11. She had to redo sacs after everyone was so behind in chapters she studied the content is less time then everyone. The teacher believed she could of got a 40+ in biology however her nerves and sickness and emotions got the better of her and she gave up. So shes thinking about repeating biology this year and get a 40+. Should she? plus shes doing chemistry , methods , further, & english. Is it worth it & shes looking for an atar of 97 to 98 to get into pharmacy and get a good umat
Thanks she asked be to ask you guys because she doesn't know what to do. The teachers are telling her to repeat. Her family & friends are telling her to not , its not worth it.4 subjects or 5 .
What do you guys think?
Any advice appreciated

Definitely don't repeat Biology, especially given that if she does she wont have a full complement of 6 subjects. If she gets a 45 in Biology that's still worse than a 43 in Bus man or something, given that if the 26 is in her bottom two it will give her 2.6 added to her aggregate.
4 or 5 subjects is really her decision, though to get an ATAR of 97 - 98 it's quite hard to do with only 5 subjects.

Although, I haven't repeated a subject, I would think it would get quite boring and the student may not work as much as they should because they would mostly know the content of the course. (May not be true)
Is she particularly good at any other subjects?
For the repeat to work well, she'll need to beat what she could've achieved in a 6th subject by ~2.6 as to receive the same aggregate.
So, if she thinks she can maintain motivation and be able to score well, then by all means repeat the subject.
I've seen success stories from repeating subjects - werdna boosted his English study score up from a 34 - 46 (or similar) - so something similar may happen for your friend.
Personally, I wouldn't, I'd have a go at a different subject and aim to score highly in that (but she may not have extra subjects in hand that she could score highly in)

Oh okay thank you bazza i will her that. Yeah 4 subjects is alot better for her. Plus to get a 45 in biology it needs time and effort and she cant put to much effort into one subject that will leave her neglecting the other subjects

yeah shes good at the maths subjects. like methods & further she will be those two this year.

She should do 5. Since she wouod have had more experience my cousin repeated and went from a 30 to a 37

If she wants to get 97+ it would be best for her to have completed 6 subjects in total across the two years
so yeah do 5, but don't choose the 5th subject to be biol? Otherwise you will only have 5 in total
also tell her to play around with the atarcalc to see if it would be worth choosing biol again or instead choosing a different subject

I've seen success stories from repeating subjects - Camo (Awkward, if it wasn't camo) boosted his English study score up from a 34 - 46 (or similar) - so something similar may happen for your friend.

Are you referring to me? I didn't repeat, I just switched my attitude towards the subject at the end of the year with D+ average to an A. :P
