Helloooo!
I was wondering if the Kwong Lee Dow Scholarship is open to Year 12 students or is it that you can only obtain it during the beginning of year 11?
Any Kwongers here?

I think it's not a scholarship in that you get discount on fees, only if you go to MelbUni - i'm not sure about this though, someone clarify this?
I do know that it's called the Kwong Lee Dow Scholars Program, and yeh I'm one, you have to be nominated by your school in semester 2 of year 10 and then answer some questions online and then you get contacted my email/letter in post to say whether you got in or not, it's usually 1-4 ppl from the cohort, depending on the school and size of the cohort I think. :)
edit: here's a link if you want more info http://futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/info/school-students/kld
edit2: whoops, looks like you do get a scholarship of some sort
During second or third year University study
You will be eligible to receive a Melbourne Global Scholarship (conditions apply) to the value of $2,500 to study at one of over 160 partner institutions in 37 countries across the world on exchange or in an approved study abroad program.

Yeah, I'm a KLD kid.
Does anyone know if the benefits are the same as last years?
During first year University study (third year of the program)
Secure your place at the University of Melbourne
All Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars who:
Achieve an ATAR of 95.00 (90.00 if your school is considered an underrepresented school in the year of application)
Meet all course prerequisites
Apply for one of the following University of Melbourne New Generation degrees through VTAC:
Bachelor of Arts
Bachelor of Biomedicine*
Bachelor of Commerce
Bachelor of Environments
Bachelor of Science
will be guaranteed a place in that course in the year following Year 12 (the normal deferral policy will still apply)#.
This means that even if the Clearly-in Rank for the course is over 95.00, you will still be offered a place.
*A quota may apply for the Bachelor of Biomedicine.
#Entry cannot be guaranteed into the Bachelor of Music as selection takes into consideration a range of criteria including an audition and musicianship test. Guarantee does not include Chancellor’s Scholars Programs.

I haven't gone to a KLD event, so no.

Can I apply for KLD in yr11? Wish to apply for it :)

Our careers teacher ensured the medicine students got the KLD. <_< I can understand why she did it, but why would she then ask others to also put in an application and then get rejected? :/

Its a year 10 program. I know, I'm kicking myself, because I didnt think I was smart enough.

icecream don't worry about it, there isn't anything that's hugely big that you're missing out on
if you work hard for your goals, i'm sure you can achieve them, with or without kld :)
