Title: What's the smallest cohort you've ever been in ? (VCE)
Post by: aiming_95 on February 20, 2012, 11:44:58 am
Lol currently I'm part of a 3 person cohort for my LOTE, has anyone been in a similar sort of cohort for year 11 or 12 ?

yeah I had 3 as well, but I think our SACs got combined with another school. When you have under 5 or 6 people in a class, I think you usually have your class combined with a class of another school. When I say combined, I mean you'll both get the same SACs and you'll be ranked together as a single cohort rather than two smaller ones, you won't actually have to be at the same location or be taught by the same teacher etc.

The school has to make the decision on which other school you're going to get paired up with.
(This is just what I was told by my spec teacher a year or two ago)
It may be different for LOTE subjects, however.

Wow I can't believe there are cohorts of 1 or 3 students! :O For me, it was 7 for Legal and 8 for Health which actually seems like a lot now after reading this thread haha

Our school wouldn't offer a subject if there wasn't a sufficient amount of students. No less that 5 I think it was.

My GMA class last year was 28 and it dropped to 8 lol.

For me, Spesh is a class of 8 (small cohort) and physics an class of 9. However, they are over 50 chem students, my school does have a good chemistry faculty for vce kids.

The biggest cohort in my school are psychology and legal studies. Freakin hyooge like a cohort of 100 students in each of the subjects, lol.

I forgot to mention that little cheeky queer subject...

English...

My smallest cohort is 3/4 French, we have around 15 people...

I'm aware that's not very small though

3 for music 3/4
3 for German 1/2
2 for German 3/4

^ it's not awesome, means you can't slack off at all and avoid the teacher's questions :(

Our school doesn't run subjects unless there's 14 students interested (or 6 for LOTE). I'm currently in a class of 8 for Italian, which is a really good size in my opinion.
