Title: SAC 2!
Post by: Markkiieee on March 03, 2012, 06:27:57 pm
Hey guys.

Most of you have completed sac 1 and are starting to learn about things for sac 2.
What is your SAC 2 on? Ours, at Mill park, is on proteins and chemical reactions inside the cell.

Are you doing enzymes?

We are doing Enzymes, and our prac is having different temperatures of water, and placing starch in them. We have for each temperature, one with diastase (breaks down starch), and one without. Every two minutes for each temperature, we extract a drop of solution from each test tube and drop a drop of Iodine on each. Iodine mixing with starch turns blue, and with the simple sugars, yellow-brown.

We are doing the same thing. When's your Sac on?

Good to hear you went well :)

Was it the practical part or the questions you did?

Could you please give me any clues to what kind of questions they asked on the sac?

We did both at the same time.

Many of the questions were based on the results. It required you to understand the Induced Fit and Lock and Key models. You also need to know what happens above the optimum, and between low and the optimum temperatures. There was also a scenario that required common sense knowledge of enzymes.
