Weird question, if an atom takes to jumps to be demoted to its ground state, does that mean that this single atom will contribute to two lines on the emossion spectrum?

Yeah, and that's why in an emissions spectra, you often have several discrete lines indicating the different quantums of energy between those different energy levels.
In fact, it might create three lines, one for going straight back into first shell, and then two for the gradual jumping... if that makes any sense.. although, i don't think you would have to go into that much detail about the number of lines..
