hey at unimelb, do you guys have to do breath subjects outside your faculty or can you use breath subjects+electives to study subjects which are relevant to your degree?
-
Breadth subjects need to be outside your faculty, but that doesn't imply they are not useful to your degree.
-
Though, you can skip breadth in third year in favour of a double major right? Or are there certain criteria that must be fulfilled beforehand? As in, doing well academically
-
You have to do 4 breadth and you can do an optional 2 more. You can skip breadth in any of your three years. Double majors aren't formally allowed in some courses, even if you do the subjects for them

Why not?
And which courses are you talking about?
This is only for unimelb, right?
...because of the melbourne model, right?
-
No idea if it's because of the model, they just don't do it in some circumstances (ie i could have majored in defense and disease and infection, microbiology and immunology but it wouldn't have been recognized as both).
Having a double major title is irrelevant though, your subjects go on your CV/transcript and an employer can see it anyway
