Hi guys,
well im in yr 12 and its digging my head in..........
i don't know where to choose?
They say RMIT is better in engineering, and Melb is not as good compared to RMIT.
Although, Melb has a better reputation. In which it doe not bother me.
It pisses me off hearing people saying: "PPL go to RMIT coz they cant get into Melb" in which there trying to say melb is better.
RMiT is more practical i guess, and melb is more theory....
RMIT is known to be best at engineering in victoria....
I rather go to a uni with more learning and practical work, in which i will be facing in the real world.
help?

RMIT is known to be best at engineering in victoria....
Oh really now?...

thats what i heard, because there most practical and getting students into more work.
I'm not hundred percent sure, i could be wrong..

Monash is superior to both when it comes to engineering.
-
It sounds like RMIT is your preference, but you don't like OTHER people's view on each uni's reputation. Does the last bit really matter?

Monash is superior to both when it comes to engineering.
+1
SORRY I KEEP ACCIDENTLY MODYFYING POSTS INSTEAD OF QUOTING THEM :@

too far.... not going to bother goin there.
-
Dont waste your life, and go to monash
lol, im joking, rmit is great

lol,
well monass doesnt proove to be the best in civil engineering as it doesn't offer it at Clayton.
It only offers it at Gippsland of a ENTER of 73. =))))))) LOL.
so it shows it doesn't rock in all engineering field, it may be the best for aerospace,
but like i said Melb has its own specialty for engineering in the software engineering field.
dude stop thinking about what you think is the best......
Everywhere is different.
and if im wrong, i wont bother again....
lets not turn this into who's right and wrong...

What!! 73 for civil at gippsland!!!
never knew it was that low ???
-
Oh dear.... you do realise that most people study a generic engineering degree and then choose to major in an area of interest?
That's like saying that Bachelor of Commerce at UoM isn't any good because it doesn't offer accounting ROFL.

yes i know,
although i was talking about them specifically offering civil, which is only offered at gippsland.
anyways night night guys, off to sleep

Monash Clayton offers one of the best civil engineering degrees in Australia.
Several of my friends are currently undertaking it right now...
-
Dw dan, some people are suckers for names.
Eg.
Bachelor of Accounting and Bachelor of Business (but majoring in Accounting) are exactly the same @ Monash Caulfield ROFL
-
I have heard that civil engineering at RMIT is on a level par with Monash however for all the other types of engineering Monash is the best.
-
Mr. Rob Skinner the Managing Director of Melbourne Water graduated from UoM with a civil engineering degree if that makes you feel better.

Gippsland is fucken up woop-woop. That's why. LOL. I'll just lol at any person that travels to Gippsland from Melbourne everyday.

So Engineering - Civil is offered at Monash Clayton right? Goodguys post says that it isn't ?

http://www.eng.monash.edu.au/prospective/ug/discipline/civil.html
"BE in the field of Civil Engineering - 4years, Clayton campus
Double degrees with - Arts, Biomedical Science, Commerce, Law, Science"
This is a Bachelor of Engineering with a specialisation in Civil Engineering, as opposed to the "Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering", which is only offered at Gippsland (For those who can't get into Clayton =P)
-
Monash Engineering works like this:
-For engineering by itself, and engineering as a double degree (except with science), you do a common first year, and then specialise in your chosen area (eg civil) from second year onwards
- For the Eng/Sci double degree, you don't do the common first year, so you can choose your specialisation right from the start. I think this is done so that you have space to do a double major in science.
- There are also specialised engineering degrees which are completely separate to normal engineering. These are aerospace, environmental, mechatronics and some others I've forgotten.
So to do civil, you could do a straight engineering degree or a double degree (not science) and specialise in civil in second year, OR you could do Eng/Sci and start civil in first year.
I can't really comment on RMIT, but I know a few people doing engineering there and they seem to be moving through the content slower than we are at Monash (I'm 1st year doing Eng/Law).
But I would encourage you to come to Monash as the campus atmosphere is much better than at RMIT (excellent student societies and programs like Engineering Leadership Program and Formula SAE) :)

awwww man I really wish I had read this comment last year before I chose to do Biomedical Engineering @ RMIT!!!!

Another one of your necro bumps
/sigh
(note: a small ban was awarded to Horacio for such behaviour, don't bump an old thread unless you have something of real value to add to it, thanks)
