Title: Instrumental Techniques
Post by: kimk2kr on April 19, 2012, 10:40:23 pm
What do each techniques (AAS, UV-Vis, IR and NMR) find?

ie. for NMR we are able to find the structure of the compound of interest.

thanks!

AAS - detection of metals, and determination of concentration/amount of certain metal in sample
UV-vis - simply used for determining concentration of organic substances, but i believe in more technical terms its used for the determination of the nature of conjugated electron system
IR - functional groups present
NMR- Carbon-hydrogen network
